Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball 3 announced for PS3

By: dragonkiss83 Apr 1, 2012 | 4029 Views | 1 Comments

Do you like DoA? Have a PS3? Is it hooked to a 3D tv? If so I have some good news for you.

It's been a while since the last Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball gave you jimmys carpal tunnel, but this summer you'll get another chance.

Team Ninja has decided it was time to get the hype machine going for what might be this summers hottest biggest release.  They have teamed up with Sony to put this on the PS3 and make the most of the 3D possibility.  They already put out a DoA game on the 3DS so you can just consider that a beta test.

As you play you can again build relationships with your favorite players by giving them gifts and hanging out.

And with a little research I was able to find a Japanese sight that had a screen shot of the Collector's Edition bonus.  At around $100 you can have your very own set of figures from the game.  As well as a code for an unreleased DLC pack.

They have promised to have the most complete 3D experience you've had in a game yet.  So real in fact that they have a new control for  you to get your hands on.

So what do you think jimmy?  Are you hyped?  Will you drop the extra cash for the collectors edition? Are you pissed that it's April Fools Day and I made it up?

I'm guessing you feel kind of like that.

E3 2011 quick take: Resistance 3 in 3D

By: BatRastered Jun 21, 2011 | 464 Views | 5 Comments

I got a chance to play Resistance 3 at Sony's E3 2011 booth, here's my take.

FnJimmy and I were waiting in line to play some Resistance 3 at Sony's booth. We thought we were going to play some multiplayer. Turns out we were playing the campaign even though they had the TVs set up side by side like the do for all their MP demos (like Uncharted and Starhawk). The Sony rep points me at the second TV in the row, lucky me, I got the one with 3D enabled. I put the goggles on over my glasses, not particularly comfortable, but not too bad until I also try to put the headphones on, now I've got three things on my ears.

Anyway the game controlled and felt like I expected, complete with the Sony R1 instead of trigger to fire that I've come to hate and expect in every exclusive PS3 game. (Seriously, WTF?)

I don't know if something was wrong with the 3D goggles (low battery?) or if all the E3 lights and flashes were interfering with the signal, but I had a bunch of cross talk, to the point that I had two reticules to aim through which obviously made targeting a bit of a trick. I wasn't sure if I should aim at the left, right, or split the difference. By the end of the demo... well I didn't stay for the end of the demo, I just quit after about 5 minutes as I did not want to spend the rest of my day at E3 with a splitting (see what I did there) headache.

Resistance seems like an above-average FPS in a market flooded with them, so I'm not super hyped about it (especially given the PS3 exclusive controls, I like my FPS on the 360).  I'm totally not excited for 3D to come to my house any time soon.

Resistance 3 ships September 6, 2011 for the PS3.

E3 Sony's Press Conference 2011 Recap

By: reipuerto Jun 6, 2011 | 587 Views | 5 Comments

Missed the show? Come here to check out the highlights!

You missed the coverage? Don't worry Jimmy! Gouki's got you covered! He's a quick run down of Sony's Press Conference! Check it out!

Sony starts off with Jack Tretton apologizes with the network hack. It's a gracious way to start off the press show. Ok, let's see some games!

They started off with Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception gameplay footage. It looks great and this story will a great one to handle.

Then they showed off Resistance 3. The HUD, looks like Resistance 1, meaning no regeneration health. And Resistance 3 is getting a bundle! Dubbed The Doomsday Edition, it'll included the sharpshooter, PS Eye, game, wand and nunchuck, all for $150. Deal?

Then the God of War Origins Collection, which consist of Chains of Olympus(PSP) and Ghost of Sparta(PSP), AND Ico and Shadow of Colossus collection BOTH on HD and 3D support.

New HD 24inch 3D TV for $499 with Resistance 3, HDMI and one glasses. The “cheap” way to get a Sony 3D TV.

The TV also supports dual screens with one TV! You'll be blown!

Then they showed off some support with third parties.

Starhawk looks like Red Fraction in my opinion, but maybe there's something else they have!

Sly 4 is coming out 2012. Titled, Thieves in Time.

Dust514 is a First Person Shooter exclusive for the PS3. There'll be a beta at the end of the year and will have a NGP version of the game, so you can connect with the PS3.

Bioshock Infinite will support Move and exclusive on the PS3, you get Bioshock 1 for free. There's also a new IP on NGP from Irrational Games.

Saints Row 3 will have exclusive content on the PS3.

A Star trek that will have 3D.

New SSX will have an exclusive level, Mt.Fuji.

Need of speed Run will have seven exclusive cars on separate blu-ray disk.

Battlefield will have a free copy of Battlefield 1943 exclusively on the PS3.

Then Kazou Hirai shows up on stage to show case Playstation Suite. Which seems to be a service like, Windows live, except it's for Sony Android and tablets. Hiro-san also confirms NGP as PS Vita and partners up with AT&T(I found this funny because some people booo-ed when announced). Suit is seems to be a social media interaction, but was scares on the information. Called, Party and Near will have cross game chat as well as other features, but it's too soon to say anything. The price for PSVita, $299 with 3G and $249 for WiFi.

Uncharted is shown on the PS Vita. Uses great render and lighting. Looks great looks pretty good. Touches the screen to use some jump mechanics but I don't see the need for.

Another game.. Ruin. Action RPG. Can connect to the PS3 version of the game.

Modnation Racer for PSVita. Touch it everywhere and create tracks twice as fast than the console version and the PSP.

Wipeout 2048 will launch for PS Vital. LBP Vita with tools from their big brother.

Yoshi Ono shows up on stage and shows off Street Fighter X Tekken Vita! Coel from Infamous, as a guess character for the game and only be available for PS Vita.

Followed by a montage, showed games with no titles.... I spy.... Shinobi? Samurai Warriors, Hot Shot Golf.

Coming this holiday season.... Crazy drums.... And it's over.

My thoughts... I enjoyed it. I give the edge to Sony, over Microsoft, because of the exclusive content they shown. But just by enough...

But what do you Jimmies think? Let us know and show your friends too! Don't be a Jimmy!

Killzone 3 in 3D and Move enabled on the CES 2011 show floor

By: BatRastered Jan 10, 2011 | 1835 Views | 7 Comments

How much would you pay for this experience? Sony's asking an awful lot.

ON the show floor at the 2011 CES, Gouki's own FnJimmy plays Killzone 3 with the new Sharp Shooter Move gun in 3D. I put on the second pair of 3D glasses ($150 each MSRP) to see what this game could do. I've got a big head, and was wearing my glasses that day, so the active shutter glasses were not very comfortable to wear. I'd hate to have them on my head for more than 10 minutes. The 3D effect was decent, though it broke if you tilted your head. Overall, it didn't add too much to the game. I got the feeling that having it in 3D would help you aim with this accessory as you could line up your  target through the reticule better. I didn't get to play the game, so I'll let Jimmy explain his feelings in the video:

Killzone 3D and Gun peripheral Hands-on at CES 2011 with FNJimmy

FNJimmy goes hands-on for the first time ever with the Sony Playstation 3 Sharpshooter peripheral. Can FNJimmy dodge bullets while taking an onslaught of questions from Cinderkin and goukijones? Watch this exclusive footage of Killzone 3D from the Sony booth at CES 2011.

What I will say is that this setup is ridiculous unless you've got some money to burn. I'll assume you already own a PS3 ($299) and one of Sony's 3D "ready" HDTV sets (starting around $1,100). To make that TV actually display 3D images, you need an outboard 3D transmitter ($50 you can see this in the video hanging below the TV) and at least one pair of Sony's active shutter glasses (the non-rechargeable battery models are $150). So that's $200, plus $150 for anyone who wants to watch. But you already have all that shit, because you love Avatar, right? You still need the game ($60), one move controller ($50), one move navigation controller ($30) and the sharpshooter gun ($40). $180 total for the game and controller. You have to be a big fan of this game to pay this much.

Playing Black Ops in 3D?

By: pwny Oct 14, 2010 | 547 Views | 14 Comments

I was just browsing around and came across this. What do you guys think about this?

http://www.callofduty.com/intel/363 That's where I came across this information. “Development of stereoscopic 3D began as an R&D project, but once we saw what the technology brought to the Call of Duty experience, what a great fit and how immersive it was, we knew that we had to develop it for Black Ops," says Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch. The high-octane action and diverse locations you experience in Black Ops are perfect settings for an incredible 3D experience. “Aiming down the sights of your weapons, flying in helicopters, rappelling down mountains, and moving through highly detailed environments are just some of the awesome experiences you will have in 3D with Black Ops,”says Lamia.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops is available in stereoscopic 3D and with the touch of a button, players can enable or disable in the single-player campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies," added Lamia.

The new 3D option on Xbox 360 and Playstation®3 can be used with 3D-ready HDTVs and shutter 3D glasses, while the Windows PC version is NVIDIA® 3D Vision®-Ready. For more information check out the FAQs at callofduty.com/3D.
