Sorry I haven't been very active lately guys. Been busy with my birthday and some other stuff, but to make it up to you I've got a review of Duke Nukem Forever.
Duke Nukem Forever. The game that most of us never thought would see the light of day, has finally been realeased. Was it worth the wait?
Graphics: Let's start here. Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for about 12 years now, and it definitely shows. The graphics in this game are very sub-par compared to the games were used to seeing released nowadays, but I wouldn't say they're terrible. They look like a very early 360 game, or maybe even a late xbox game. They get the job done, but don't be expected to be blown out of the water by any means. There are posters on the wall that are so blurry you can't read them, and Duke's jumping animation when looking in a mirror is laugable. Literally I laugh everytime I see it.
Story: I'm going to tell you right now that if you waited for Duke all these years hoping for an epic story you're going to be very VERY disappointed. Pretty much Aliens came to earth, and duke needs to stop them....again. But this time they've taken all the women, and Duke won't stand for that. And that's the entire story. No plot twists no nothing, that's pretty much about it.
Gameplay: The gameplay to DNF is solid. It's not the best shooter out there, but it's not the worst either. It's your basic run and gun FPS with a regenerative health bar, and big guns. There's even a couple of puzzles thrown in too keep it fresh, but usually just wind up frustrating you, and taking up uneeded time. Having said that though, the gameplay is solid, and it's actually fun. The driving is fun, but only when driving the monster truck. Driving the rc car seems like a chore, and get's old quick mainly because you're confined in doors.
Humor: Everybody loves the duke, and there's a reason for that. The Duke's sense of humor hasn't gone away. I found myself laughing at quite a few of the jokes, and they poke fun at a few MS titles throughout the campaign. Mostly Halo, and GOW. Dukes over the top sense of self-confidence and all of the little things you can interact with in the environment will keep you entertained.
Music: The music in Duke Nukem Forever is good, but it's not winning any awards. The sound effects are all there too, but some of them get repetitive and annoying like dukes jumping grunt, and things like that.
