Gaming Easter Eggs

By: Zero2990 Oct 28, 2012 | 3 Comments

What's your favourite gaming Easter eggs?

I'm not really a fan of Easter Eggs in games, I find it pointless hunting for a subtle hint of a Star Trek episode I don't watch or a prologue to Halo 4. I've been playing through Skyrim a lot recently and I have found a few that made me chuckle, 1. A fist fight in the Silver Blood Inn at Markarth when an onlooker shouted 'Remember, Hit the one in the middle' a cool reference to Rocky 4 when Rocky is talking to Duke in the corner 2. Possible Link from Zelda? A pit near Whiterun with an impaled elf wearing Links famous green tunic and hat. 3. Star Wars TESB, I can't exactly remember the cave but one where a Skeleton is hanging upside down from the ceiling pointing towards a sword stuck in a snow pile and also a lot of Snow trolls around. 4. The Hangover, one quest in the game seems to be the exact same plot as the movie, 3 groomsmen have lost their friend and have to retrace their steps to find him before he marries the next day. While retracing their steps they found out they had been up to no good the night before like stealing a goat.. There was a few more but I couldn't be bothered to write things out So Skyrim is full of funny little references to Bethesdas favourite games/Movies What does everyone else think of Easter eggs, does it add quirkiness to a game or take away the fun in moments?

Skyrim + Vampries .... Dawnguard is coming

By: dragonkiss83 Jun 6, 2012 | 1 Comments

With the Elder Scrolls series we have come to expect a few things. Open worlds, kill-able NPCs and turning into a vampire and werewolf.

Now that is what I think of when I think about playing as a vampire.  Forget the Twilight angle where you don't realy look different. In the other Elder Scrolls games a vampire looked like everyone else, but the npcs knew you were infected.  The werewolf changed though.  I guess we can thank the Underworld series for getting the hellish looking vampire put in.

But you can also join the Dawnguard if you want to hunt vampires down.  So you can play it from the side you choose.

If you go vamp you can meet others like yourself and get into their stories.  They mention a girl caught between her parents as they fight for power.  Not exactly an original idea, but still sounds fun to me.

Transforming into the real vampire form will let you have some nasty melee along with special vampire skills.  Like bringing a corpse back to life to help you.  And with the wings you can take limited flight.

The expansion should be good for around 15 hours of extra play, but if you're like me you can go way beyond that just terrorizing the citizens.

It'll be on the 360 June 26th and PC and PS3 will have to wait an extra month.

And Game informer had a list of perks for the vampire:

  • Power of the Grave: 50 bonus points to health, magicka, and stamina
  • Vampire Grip: A Force Pull style ability that allows you to pull distant targets toward you and choke them
  • Summon Gargoyle: Conjure up some help in battle with one of these menacing monsters
  • Corpse Curse: Paralyze your foes with this magical blast
  • Detect All Creatures: A vampire who wants to live long should stay aware of his surroundings
  • Mist Form: Turn yourself into an invulnerable cloud of mist while regenerating your health, magicka, and stamina
  • Supernatural Reflexes: A slow motion style ability that allows you to move quickly in for a kill while the enemies move sluggishly
  • Blood Healing: Killing someone by biting them restores all of your health
  • Unearthly Kill: Night powers and Blood Magic cost 33% less
  • Poison Talons: Melee attacks deal 20 points of poison damage
  • Night Cloak: A shroud of bats feed on enemies within melee range

Elder Scrolls V Skyrim huge video

By: DragonKiss83 Jun 10, 2011 | 3 Comments

This is about half of the video they were showing behind the scenes at E3

Let's start by saying I was dying for this game since before they announced it.  I have loved the Elder Scrolls series.  You get to run around in a very open world, build your character however you choose, kill anyone and anything you want (sometimes it screws up the story and stops you from being able to finish the game) and play however you feel like it.

But with the 5th game in the series they have added so much that the game can't help but blow your mind.  But the video does way more for explaining it, so here it is.  And this is how it looks on the 360.

Something they get to early is the fact that you can dual weild spells and using both hands leads to a bigger spell.  That takes the game up some.  You were able to dual weild before, but not like this.  And we will also get killing blows this time around.  So you can expect to have a more cinematic experience, instead of the same stab over and over you can finish the enemy off with style.  We also get to see that instead of a basic stat sheet that they are giving us a star chart to build our skills in, and you create constellations as you do it.  You can also look forward to over 150 dungeons in the game, and to make it better they have different dungeon styles this time.  There are even visual clues as you play like flowing water that will help you find your way around.   Free roaming dragons, that means they can do what they choose, show up any time, and even help you some.  You will need to kill them to build your shouts so get ready.  About half way through the video you even see him cast a spell on the ground that works as a trap.

The main problem I have with the game is that we don't get it until November 11th.

Are you hype?
