Tales of the abyss 3D trailer

By: blazemanx Jul 26, 2011 | 216 Views | 6 Comments

a trailer showing off some exclusive features for the 3DS port of tales of the abyss.

Me being a HUGE tales fan i always want to get my hands on anything tales related. For those of you who have never played this amazing game back when it was released on the ps2 you have a chance to experience it on the 3DS. There are no major changes but there are a few made for the 3DS. If your a RPG fan and own a 3DS you should not pass this up. I don't own a 3DS but if i ever get one this will be the very first game i get even though i played through the ps2 version like 6 times lol. I hope this sells well so it will encourage namco bandi to localize more tales games. Let us know what you think and don't be a jimmy.

My favorite rpg series

By: blazemanx May 13, 2011 | 408 Views | 11 Comments

This is a story of a franchise that has grown with me overtime.

Video games can invoke all different types of emotions from joy to anger to sorrow. I want to talk about my favorite rpg series.........Tales of (insert crazy name here). Yeah i know FF is the most beloved rpg franchise of all time but that's not true for me. Every game i have played in this series is like a bookmark on the chapters of my life. So let me take you on a trip down memory lane.

Tales of destiny 2/ Eternia

We start off with my very first tales game tales of destiny 2. 2001 i was only a 12 year old kid but even then i was knee deep into rpg's. Christmas was coming up and i didn't know what to get and then my cousin tells me to get this game called tales of destiny 2. I had never heard of it but my cousin was a true gamer so i trusted him and asked my mom for it. So i got my wish and on Christmas day i popped it in and i was hooked from the very start. I loved the 2D sprites because it was so clean and crisp but what really grabbed me by the throat was the battle system. It was AMAZINGLY fun teaming with my party of 4 doing epic combos and flashy magic spells in real time. This was the first step in what was to become a long line of greatness.

Tales of Symphonia

On to my second tales game Tales of Symphonia this one was a doosey. Now 2004 i am a 15 year old young man and once again its Christmas. It was my first Christmas back in Chicago after moving to Minnesota the year before and my whole family was there. All my aunts and uncles were giving me money and then at one point i had enough money to get pretty much whatever i wanted. So i walked up to my local GameCrazy which was open on Christmas which is pretty awesome and i scooped up my second tales game. I was thinking about waiting till i got back home to Minnesota to play it but i COULD NOT wait so popped it in my aunts Gamecube and once again i was hooked from the start. At that time it was probably the best looking game i had ever seen it had a beautiful cell shaded look and a soundtrack to DIE for. This was the first rpg game to make me feel real emotion by what was happening i wont go into any details because i don't want to giveaway the story. Once again the battle system was deep and AMAZINGLY fun and for many years this was my #1.

Tales of Legendia

On to my third tales game Tales of Legendia this one was a little odd but awesome none the less. Now 2006 and I'm on the fast track to 17 years old and i just got a little side job at my local mom and pop game store. I was really waiting for this game to come out and my boss knew it too and he gave me a Tales of Legendia necklace featuring the main character and one of the main villains of the game and needles to say i was elated. The game came out in February and on release day it was a blizzard outside but i wouldn't let that stop me. I went up to my job / local game store and the game was already on the counter waiting for me because my boss knew that a blizzard wouldn't keep me away. I took it home and once again i was into it from the very beginning i was a little thrown off by the blocky graphics but it didn't bother me. The battle system was not on par with the previous games but it was still very fun and a unique story that has many twist and turns to keep you guessing it was not as good as the rest but a solid tales game.

Tales of the Abyss

On to my fourth tales game tales of the abyss such a great game. Still 2006 but at the end of the year i had just moved into a new apartment and didn't have a whole lot but i was looking forward to one thing a brand new tales game. The box art alone had be thinking greatest game ever and boy was it close. The visuals was beautiful and the environments were really refreshing but the battle system was AMAZING. AT this point this battle system was by far the best i had experienced so deep and elements would change your special moves completely and just gave you that much more to work with. For me the story was incredible you start in one place and you end up somewhere you would never expect it was my favorite tales story at the time. It also featured my favorite mage in ANY game to date Jade Curtis (the guy in the blue) play the game and you will understand how godly he really is.

Tales of Vesperia

On to my fifth tales game tales of Vesperia.......PERFECT. In 2008 i got this game and i didn't even have a 360 that's how bad i wanted this game. I got a 360 for Christmas that year and it was time to experience to perfection that is Vesperia. The problem at that time is that i had a small SD TV which made the game look weird and the text was almost unreadable. SO about a week later i was able to get my first HD TV and being the first game i will play in HD i didn't know what to expect. Once the intro started to roll i just stood there eyes wide open and mouth gaping i was literally blown away it was the most beautiful game i had EVER seen it was like a living anime. The battle system was taken up a few notches and added air combat and massive enemies to set the stage for epic battles. The story was kind of iffy but the pure charm and beauty of this game heavily out shines that and to this day it remains my all time favorite rpg game.

Video games are a form of entertainment for people and nothing else but for me they are so much more i look at my game collection and see a story of my life. From a small kid with a Playstation to a grown man living in the HD era i have grown and this franchise has grown with me. I hope i have inspired you get into this franchise or to share your life stories as a gamer. Do any games go side by side with events in your life any games hold a special place in your heart let us know.

My Top 5 Most anticipated 3DS games

By: grey walrus Apr 24, 2011 | 414 Views | 5 Comments

With all of the great games announced for the 3DS it was hard to narrow the list down to the top five, but here they are.

The Nintendo 3DS is a phenomanal system that has the capacity to be the best handheld made so far. Then only thing it's lacking from lauch is a set of really great games, but don't worry about that. They're on their way.

NUMBER 5:

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II

When I first got Blazblue for my 360 I couldn't get enough of it. I 1000/100- the achievements in about a week and a half and kept playing pretty regularly until about September of 2010. I got tired of waiting for the new character Valkenhayn to come out, and you may have seen my stories posted about him if you've been around Gouki.com for long enough. The game is fantastic and I'd probably still pick it up and play the console version from time to time if they weren't going to completely alter my mains playstyle when Continuum Shift 2 comes out. If I don't play the console version anymore the least I can do is pick up the portable verstion and support AKSYS.

With the 3DS's graphical capabilities I'm sure the sprites will look fantastic. Much better than that piece of garbage port they put on the PSP of the first one.

NUMBER 4:

StarFox 64 3D

Having grown up without a Nintendo 64 I missed out on a lot of its gems the first time around, and this was one of them. I did get to play this game eventually and it's fantastic. With the 3DS version I'm sure they'll add in a save function though and I won't have to beat the entire game in one sitting. With the upgraded visuals and the 3D effects making me feel like I'm actually in an interstellar dog fight, this game should be one of the great titles of the console. Just as long as they don't change the cheesy voice acting. It's part of what made this game great in the first place.

NUMBER 3:

Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater

Hideo Kojima is a freaking genius. He can come up with the best and most convaluted storylines you've ever heard, but damn does he make it awesome. I love the MGS franchise, and if I had to pick one for them to put on the 3DS it would probably be Twin Snakes. But I'm not going to complain if what I get is Snake Eater. Since chronologically Snake Eater comes before Twin Snakes maybe we'll see a 3D remake of all three original games. The comparison screenshots between the 3DS and the ps2 version are astounding. The ps2 version looks like they took the 3DS version, ate it, and crapped it out the other end before selling it. If you're a fan of MGS this is going to be a must buy.

NUMBER 2:

Tales of the Abyss

Tales of the Abyss is a ps2 game that I never got the chance to play, but being a huge fan of the Tales series it's one I really wanna check out. They're not doing anything fancy with this game though. It's more of a port than a remake with the same graphics as the ps2 version, but I'll take it. Tales of Vesperia has been my favorite tales game so far, but I've heard that this one is even better. I'll have to wait and see for myself, but it hasn't even been confirmed to be comig statestide yet. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but if it does make it over here you can bet I'll be getting it day  one.

And the moment you read all this way for...........

NUMBER 1:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

I've always been a huge fan of The Legend of Zelda even since I was a wee lad. I used to play A Link to the Past every day after school on my SNES. But as I stated before I never had a Nintendo 64 growing up and I missed out on this game for a long time. It was only about 5 years or so ago that I actually got to play Ocarina of Time, and it was instantly turned into my favorite Zelda game of all time. It's a got a charm about it. All of the characters, environments, and sounds come together to make an unforgettable moment in time. You've got the Goro's and the Zoras. You've got the frustating water temple. You've got Navi's annoying as voice yelling at you every 5 seconds. You've got amazing bosses and a great story. At least in my opinion. It may be a "remake" of a Link to the Past, but you know what? A link to the past was good, but Ocarina of Time made it better. When this game comes out it will be getting a TON of playtime. Not to mention it comes out on my birthday, June 19th. Which just makes this releast all the more better.

Even though everygame on my list is a remake or a port of some other game I am still excited for some of the original games coming out for the 3DS. They just didn't make the top 5 list. Paper mario, Mario Kart 3D, Super mario 3D, Kid Icarus: uprising, and Kirby 3D are all going to be great. And that's just what's been announced so far. If support for the 3DS stays this good I'm not going to have to worry about having a good portable game until the new handhelds come out in 2018. Give or take.
