Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (メタルギアソリッドV ザ・ファントム・ペイン Metaru Gia Soriddo Faibu Za Fantomu Pein?) is an upcoming action-adventure stealth video game developed by Kojima Productions and produced by Hideo Kojima, currently in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It will be the eleventh main entry in the Metal Gear series, and will be the first to have an open world gameplay structure. Within the series' over-arching storyline, the game will take place following the events of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

Metal Gear Solid V was originally announced as a game unrelated to the series or Konami titled The Phantom Pain, and was announced by a fictional company called "Moby Dick Studio". Spearheaded by the unknown CEO Joakim Mogren, fans had suspected that the game had ties to the series. At the 2013 Game Developers Conference, Konami and Kojima Productions announced that The Phantom Pain was indeed a Metal Gear title, and was to be given the designation Metal Gear Solid V.
