6. Ryu

Ryu is perhaps the most famous character in the Street Fighter series. His humble beginnings to his uprising in ability to topple the giant champions of the world made him the fighter we all wished to be. The hero of Street Fighter and overall legend, he is known for usually snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

Zero2990's Dead Island character build (Sam B)

By: Zero2990 Aug 20, 2012 | 5 Comments

I decided to start creating character builds because I see to many newbs online

So some of us was excited for Dead Island before release, No? Well I was and it turned out to be a pretty shitty game, that was before I looked at character builds that make this game actual fun.. Yes Dead Island is actually fun, can you imagine?

So the last week I've been playing as the top hat sporting power house/rapper Sam B. Some people online have no idea how Sam should be played and opt for the machine gun approach, not in this build. I'll have you cracking undead skulls in no time.. From Lv1 as a matter of fact. This build looks at Combat and Survival skills only, Sams Fury tree may seem fun but it's about as useful as ...

Playing Brink with Ed Stern from Splash Damage

By: goukijones Jun 19, 2010 | 8 Comments

Here’s a 10 minute hands on demo of Brink with one of the developers walking me through.

Brink was one of the games I was looking forward most to seeing at E3. Bethesda was one of the first booths we hit up. At the time by the way, I had no idea how big of a deal Rage was. I didn’t get to see Rage and I don’t care too much. The videos I have seen make it look like a different style of Borderlands.

I want to see Brink!! We rolled right up to a free TV to play and Ed Stern was there ready to tell us everything about the game. Ed was totally cool and knew everything about the game; I was really impressed with his knowledge and his ability to talk. Ed explains the character creation in the first part of the video and then we jump into the combat. This is where I start to get away from Ed, at this point I’m ready to pwn.

Out in the field I switch to inverted controls immediately. As I’m exiting out of the menus, Ed is telling me that I can switch my buttons at any time. Watch for that part in the video. Ed is cool though, I can’t keep up with what he is saying to me, I just wanna shoot Jimmys. I got a shotgun and start lighting Jimmys up and well, I’ll let the video speak for its self. Watch it. STICKY BAUMS!!

Starting at the May 1st 2019 gameplay reveal event you will be able to earn in-game Borderlands 3 loot while watching your favorite streamer!

Make sure you link your Borderlands/Gearbox Shift account to your Twitch account.

#FMIWT @ GameWorks Las Vegas, NV is now closed.

By: goukijones Nov 16, 2015 | 0 Comments

For a lot of people we were just playing games. But for me... For Me It Was Tuesday!

Hello Everyone,

As of today Gouki.com will no longer be hosting For Me It Was Tuesday (#FMIWT) at GameWorks in Las Vegas, NV.  We would like to thank everyone from the Las Vegas community who supported us in keeping our weekly gaming meetup going.  Thank you to Scott, Daysha & Greg for their hospitality at GameWorks.

When we started #FMIWT in 2014, it was just a few people in the back of the eSports lounge.  We grew to over 100 people every Tuesday.  Our very first Saturday tournament at GameWorks last year peaked at over 90 entries.  Vegas Violence II had the most out-of-state players than any other tournament in Las Vegas. (Except EVO)  We then moved to the front of GameWorks in the restaurant, but were quickly shuffled into the party rooms because of the pace that we were growing.  We ran over 40 tournaments at GameWorks.  We hosted the official EVO party in 2015.  Participated & helped run multiple community events, including Hunniecon.

We are leaving because we want to do larger scale events.  Something we can not do at GameWorks.  There is no room for us to grow at GameWorks.

In the coming days we will have more announcements.  We will continue to partner with Anime Revolution & we will announce another new partnership soon.  Thank you to the Melee crowd that brought the largest group most of the time.  Thank you to the Smash 4 community, you guys are crazy, but you are awesome.  Thank you to the old school boys.  We appreciate the care you take of your collections & when you brought them to #FMIWT it was an honor.

Thank you Las Vegas & beyond for your support.  We’re moving on to better things!  Stay tuned to our Twitter: twitter.com/goukinews & Gouki.com for more tournament & event information.

Epic getting sued for Loot Crates

By: goukijones Mar 2, 2019 | 1 Comments

I have over 425+ days logged in.

As some of you may know GrrrtyGirl aka MsSugarNinja and I have been playing Save the World every day for the last year plus.  We have never paid for a loot crate because we thought we needed it to level up.  Today a lawsuit was filed...

"The scheme plays out perfectly to the benefit of Epic: once players are sufficiently invested in the game, Epic induces players to purchase loot boxes in order to get better loot, which results in massive revenue to Epic."

I'm just saying there is no way this will fly.  Epic added X-ray loot crates in January.  So you can see what you are getting out of the Llamas.  Good and bad I guess.  You never have to take a chance, but you always know what's in there.  So no surprise there.

Plus you can earn V-Bucks by just playing Save the World.  So if this kid was even playing the game he wouldn't be having an issue.  As far as the parents go... clueless. Nubfarm.

X-men Arcade Review!

By: Cinderkin Dec 16, 2010 | 15 Comments

The old school '92 classic beat 'em up has returned. Is it worth your money? Find out in the Gouki.com Review. Welcome to Die!

If I could describe the X-men Arcade game in one word it would be Disappointment.

Why you ask? Well I'll tell you why. I fondly remember going to the Arcade in San Diego California as a kid. Playing all sorts of games, blowing my hard earned money on good games, bad games, broken games (still pissed about those) and the best arcade games around. Back in the early '90s the top arcade games for me where the Beat 'Em Ups. The Simpsons Game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and who could forget the X-men Arcade game. Many of us had the 4-player cabinets in our local arcades, but some of us where lucky enough to have 6-player action at our fingertips... and just for a quarter (I miss those days).

I would spend hours beyond hours every week playing the X-men Arcade game. Meeting new people every time and having a blast. So I was stoked to find out that Konami was bringing this childhood classic back. At 800 MSP or $10 PSN I was sold. I bought this baby yesterday and to my surprise I was severely disappointed.

The game is exactly as I remember it, which is the problem. After 18 years I was expecting Konami to release an updated version, not just a smoothing filter. I wanted to have a remade X-men Arcade with updated sounds, graphics, and gameplay. Now I am not the person who hates the classics, or thinks they aren’t fun. My problem is that they could have had two games in one. X-men Arcade Classic, and a revamped version as well.

You have the choice between two version of X-men Arcade, USA and Japan. The Japanese version is better than the USA version solely because when you use a Mutant Power in the USA version it drains your life meter before using your energy orb. The Japanese version is the other way around. The USA version is much more difficult which would be a great challenge had the game had some sort of continue system. Instead you have unlimited lives, and can basically just spam Mutant Powers the entire time. Sure they take away your life energy, but who cares you can’t lose. Even online play has infinite continues. There is no way to change it either. So basically unless you’re like me and really want to try and relive the classic, you’ll try not to spam Mutant Powers.

My first play through was solo, and I beat it in 30 minutes. I spent $10 only to be jerked around for 30 minutes. This game welcomed me to die alright; I wanted to end my life and the game after playing it. The character selection is how you remember it, you can choose from; Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, Night Crawler, and The Dazzler (yes she is a real X-men) each character has his/her own Mutant Power. Cyclops shoots laser beams from his eyes, Storm strikes her enemies with lightning, Wolverine slashes his claws at his enemies (lamest Mutant Power), Colossus goes into rage and destroys enemies surrounding him, Night Crawler teleports across the screen and destroys anyone in his path, and The Dazzler who uses sound frequencies to destroy her enemies.

For the most part of the game you are fighting your way through sentinel after sentinel with a few other enemies here and there. There are also eight boss characters, Pyro, Blob, Wendigo, Nimrod, The White Queen, Juggernaut, Mystique and of course Magneto. Each boss is basically a push over save Magneto. As one falls after another you move onto a new level. The story of this game is basically Magneto threatens the city with his army of sentinels and Kidnaps Professor X and Kitty Pryde. It’s up to the X-men to Go and Save the City as well as rescue X and Kitty.

It’s a pretty simple game, only using 3 buttons; Attack, Jump, and Mutant Power, which makes for an easy to pick up and play game. Online play is done well, with the option of playing 6-player drop in drop out co-op with relatively no lag. The only issue here is even on expert difficulty, 6 players can run through the game in under 15 minutes. It’s really hard to suggest spending $10 for such a short time of play.

While the X-men Arcade game is still a great classic in my heart, this new version is just plagued with not adding anything new to the game in 18 years. I had fun playing it, but I think it’s a waste of $10 Jimmys. Buy it if you’re a huge fan and have to get your hands on it, but for the rest of you out there just Demo it

Bottom Line: Demo It!

My top 5 favorite RPG villains

By: blazemanx Jul 2, 2011 | 16 Comments

here are my top 5 favorite RPG villains.

As you all know im a RPG fanatic and i have played and beaten many many RPG games. In every RPG game there is a hero but you can't have a hero without a villain. Some villains are dull and don't really seem worth the the hero's time. Then there are those that stand out from the crowd in terms of evilness, look and personality. Trust me i have a big list of awesome villains that i like but i decided to only put down 5. It was hard to pick these 5 out of the bunch but i managed to do it. So without further delay here are my top 5 favorite RPG villains.

Yeager

Yeager is a villain from tales of vesperia and a pretty cool one to be honest. What really caught my attention with yeager was his german accent. He would add ya at the end of his sentences as if he was asking a question. You know what i mean just imagine it lol. In addition to his cool voice he was a BADASS fighter he was one of the hardest bosses in the game. Tales of vesperia has these secret missions where you complete a goal during boss fights and his secret mission was BY FAR the hardest. Another thing that adds to yeagers appeal is that further in the game after you have defeated him for good you learn more about him. You learn that he was not as evil as you thought he was, he had a little good in him too. I really would love to see yeager in another tales game but i guess that won't happen since he is killed in the game. I think there should be more villains with german accents it just adds a extra cool factor.

Dist the reaper

Dist is from tales of the abyss and is one of the six god generals. Dist is by far the most hilarious villain i have ever seen but in a good way. He is indeed evil but totally comical at the same time weather its intentional or not i have no idea. For starters he has one of if not the best evil psycho laughs ever. He calls others savages and thinks of him self as the most beautiful person alive. He even talks about how his name is beautiful, talk about conceited. He never actually fights he uses machines to do his dirty work and he is a mechanical genius but he just can't fight. He is old friends with one of the main party members and the dialog between the two is comedy gold. When you foil his plans he tells you how he will write it down in his revenge journal. I think there should be more villains like him he adds a frown as well as a smile to your face.

Lezard Valeth

Lezard is from valkyrie profile 1 and 2 he is a genius mage who seeks power beyond that of human kind. Although he was in both games the valkyrie profile 2 version of him is why i like him so much. He was actually a team mate for most of the game until his true motives was revealed and he ended being the final boss of the game. He outsmarts the party and other villains to become a god and create his own dimension so its safe to say that he is a total badass. He is voiced by the same voice actor who voices dist the reaper but trust me he sounds nothing like him. He has a badass deep voice and when he does magic and cast spells he sounds truly epic. There aren't many villains that can out smart gods and become a god him self, lezard truly is a villain to be reckoned with.

Luca Blight

Luca is from suikoden 2 and trust me he is one sick bastard. He is indeed one of the most evil villains you will ever come across in any game. While he was destroying a town he made a woman get on her hands and knees and bark like a dog if she wanted to live. She did what he said then with an evil grin he struck her down with his sword and laughed as if was nothing. He had no regard for human life he was truly a monster. Another thing that adds to him being a great villain is the actually battle with him in the game. It took THREE DIFFERENT TEAMS of SIX to slow him down but even then he was not finished. After you use 18 different characters to beat him he is hit by a barrage of arrows but with arrows sticking out of his body he was STILL not finished. You then had to face him one on one in a duel and that was no walk in the park. It took all that to defeat this man he was truly a hardcore villain and there should be more like him to really give the player a reason to hate one of the antagonist.

Duke

Duke is the main villain from tales of vesperia. Duke was an important figure in the great war in which humans and the Entelexeia (mystical creatures) fought. He fought alongside the Entelexeia Elucifer so that humans and the Entelexeia could live in peace. Although they were victorious, some humans no longer trusted the Entelexeia and executed Elucifer. After this betrayal, Duke lost all faith in humanity and cut all ties with them becoming somewhat of a recluse. He only appeared when he felt it was necessary for the protection of the world and the Entelexeia. Duke is one of those complex villains where he has good intentions but his method to achieve his goal is too extreme. He intended to trade all human life on earth in order to save it. He cared more about the earth it self than those who inhabit it. He survives the final battle and helps the heros save the earth their way. He was a guy you wanted to hate but couldn't i like complex villains like that.

There are many more villains that i have come to like and im sure some of you have too. So let us know some of your favorite villains and don't be a jimmy.

Packages to this event sold out instantly! But just what is #FyterFest ?!

What is this really?
