Welcome Uncle Sensei to the playable roster! Has DIVEKICK lost its "it factor" or should I say its "Kick-Factor?" This was something shocking and new ... months ago.

This is an image of Sensei from the New Angle Dojo stage (in Bel Air). He lives there, but Dive and Kick have recently discovered that their Uncle may not own the dojo! Is he squatting there?! Is their esteemed Uncle, former 10 time world DiveKicking champion, homeless?!
You'll notice that Sensei has slippers on his hands. He only wears these during times of meditation. In combat, the same boots you see on his feet also appear on his hands. Sensei is truly the man who took tournament DiveKicking to the next level for over a decade until his extremely salty retirement. Will he have his revenge? Today the DiveKick developers announced a KickStarter program to bring the game to a PC near you.
You can donate to the project here.
The deadline is August 1st 2012. If the contributions get up to 30k the game will ship. (Via download code) Speaking of download code, everyone that contributes at least $10 to the cause will receive a free dlc code when the game is released. So for $10 right now you can pre-order Divekick.
I've seen the total go up $400 since I've been watching. Good luck to you guys working on this game, I think it is a great idea and you most certainly will be successful.
The hype machine continues.
BONUS! For $3000
Contributors who pledge $3000 will receive rewards #1-5, and will be able to work directly with the developers to create a character based on their own design or likeness to be playable in the finished game. Final approval on said designs are up to us, of course, as we want to release as balanced a game as possible, but we are willing to work very hard to develop a character that you are proud to call your own.
Now I have to start a kickstarter to get our Jimmy ass mascot into this game. I've already got all his moves figured out, you guessed it, he's the most worthless character on the list.

DiveKick gets a publisher and cancels the Kickstarter program. What does this mean for people who pledged money?
The DiveKick Kickstarter just reached the $30k goal recently, but has now been canceled. Why? Well because the game has been picked up by a publisher. No word on which publisher picked up the game or any new details on the release. All pre-orders have been canceled from the Kickstarter program and you will not be charged any money. However if you did pledge money, you're still going to be rewarded for being an early supporter.
One True Game Studios would like to thank everyone for their offer of support, but we have decided to close the Kickstarter despite reaching our funding goal. The reason for this is simple: the spirit of Kickstarter is as a creative “last resort,” if there is no way to get your game funded, hit up Kickstarter to see if there’s enough community interest in funding it. Well, we are happy to inform you today that we've made a deal with a publisher to help us both finish and release Divekick to the masses! The finished game will be loaded with features and characters, and we are sure you'll be pleased with the result. Keep your eye on OneTrueGame.com for updates.
Though we will be canceling the Kickstarter, and thus will not be taking your money, we are going to make good on most of your offers to back us. Though we cannot honor game pre-orders or mail out T-shirts without taking money in, we do want each of the 800+ of you willing to back our game to be able to have some ownership in it. Check below to see your specific backer level and in what way we will honor it, and then check your Kickstarter Private Messages and reply to us to get us the details we request concerning your involvement with the project.
Pledge Level 1 - $10 – Though we cannot honor a pre-order, we would like to thank you all by letting you suggest a “Tip From Uncle Sensei” for our loading screen.
Pledge Level 2 - $25 – Because we are letting people who pledged $10 submit a Tip, we are going to let anyone who pledged $25 or more suggest up to 3 “Tips From Uncle Sensei”.
Pledge Level 3 - $50 – This one is the trickiest. No matter what your pledge level, if you want to get your hands on one of these shirts, we are going set up a shirt-pre-order form (just for the backer shirt, not the game) where you can still get one at a massively reduced price. We don't care about the profit here, so they will be around 15 dollars + shipping and handling. Though anyone will be able to order a shirt, no matter what their pledge level, those who pledged $50 or more will have their names added to the special thanks section of the game's credits.
Pledge Level 4 - $100 – We don't take a dime, but you guys are generous as hell, so we'll drop your names in the special thanks and upgrade you to the $200 reward and let you add your own color pallet to the character of your choice, and you'll get to name the color!
Pledge Level 5 - $200 - You guys are super generous! We'll let you choose and name three color pallets each for the three separate characters of your choice.
Pledge Level 6 - $300 - In addition to the above, you guys still get to appear in a new background in the game. We'll still need photos of you to work from, and you'll need to sign some paperwork, but everything is a go!

DIVEKICK TO DEBUT IN SPRING 2013
Iron Galaxy Studios announces plans to release the one true fighting game on numerous platforms
CHICAGO – January 22, 2013 –Iron Galaxy Studios is teaming up with One True Game Studios to release Divekick, a unique fighting game available in spring 2013 for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system and PC.
Initially developed as a parody of fighting games by Adam Heart, the Editor-in-Chief of Shoryuken.com, Divekick gained notoriety in the community for its surprising depth and lack of a control stick. Divekick’s two-button controls and precise timing soon made it a staple in competitions. Shortly after its debut to long lines at Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament 8 in May 2012, Heart wanted to bring the game to a wider audience and launched a Kickstarter campaign in June 2012 to finish its PC release. The campaign reached its funding goal in less than one month.
After seeing the success of Divekick’s Kickstarter campaign and the excitement generated at fighting game tournaments, Iron Galaxy fell in love with the game and offered their assistance and development expertise (Street Fighter III: Online Edition, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Origins, Darkstalkers Resurrection) to bring Divekick to a broader audience and help realize its full potential. The fully-funded Kickstarter was cancelled, and the new collaboration has resulted in the game being equipped with GGPO-powered online support, a fully-fledged single-player campaign, and many other features.
“Once I played Divekick, I knew I had to steal it from its creator and reap the benefits for myself,” said Dave Lang, President of Iron Galaxy Studios. ”I look forward to seeing Divekick Cyber Athletes on cereal boxes in the near future.”
One True Games Studios is led by fighting game experts including Adam “Keits” Heart. “Divekick is good at two things: teaching some of the basics of fighting game to players of any skill, and ending friendships. I partnered with Iron Galaxy because I know they love these things as much as I do. They also gave me large burlap sacks filled with cash, which certainly didn’t hurt,” said Heart. ”This game was made by the community, for the community, to completely tear apart the community.”

DiveKick started out as a great idea... Check out this preview video if you haven't seen it already:
That was an awesome spoof of the community, the games, the controllers... everything. 2 buttons, 2 characters. I thought it was awesome. It also looked complete (or at least very nearly). They could've sold this as an iPhone/iPad game no problem.
Since then, they've added a few new characters. There's a "wolverine" (not to be confused with the Marvel character) and a "Mr. N" spoof of Marn.
Now they're doing a kickstarter and even more characters will be added... each with slightly different jumps and kicks I guess. Yawn... This was so funny 2 months ago, but the joke is over now and I don't really care to have a serious DiveKick game at home. I don't see it selling very much at this point (let alone late Fall when it actually gets released).
Anyway, I had a chance to play it at EVO... here's me playing against a wolverine :
Is this the first double KO caught on tape? It didn't count as a round at all! Later on in the match I figured out that pressing kick first makes you jump backwards. My overall feeling though was that this would make a great party game and not much more. It has some insider jokes for the FGC, but like I said before, it's a bit stale now. If they take the game too seriously, they'll just end up competing with the SSF4AE and UMvC3's of the world and let's be real, I'm gonna play the full-on games at that point. I can't say I'm too hyped for this at this point... if it was already out with the two OG characters, Dive and Kick, and cost a few bucks I would've probably already bought it, played it, and forgotten about it. (Just like SFxT! Hey-o!)

DiveKick at EVO 2012!!! This game was first unveiled at UFGT8 earlier this year and I can't believe nobody has published this game on the iPhone. Looking for an exclusive with Keits, shout out to my boy Keits, WHAT UP JIMMY?! :)
