Borderlands a new game from publisher 2k games and developer Gearbox who worked on Halo CE for the pc and just recently released Brothers in Arms and also worked on Half-life. This new game has a very unique art style it's cel-shaded but very gritty. I like it the colors.
As far as the gameplay, you can select from four different classes. A hunter, he has a sniper rifle. A soldier, he just raips on the ground level. A siren who looks like she has an emp and can boost the parties experience gain. And a berserker who just pounds the shit of things. So yes, a first-person shooter with experience gain. One of the first of it's kind. I'm interested and as the game's release gets closer, I've been paying more attention.

Leveling up and shooting Jimmys in the face is a perfect match for me.
After only sitting down to play this game only 3 times, I've already logged over 20 hours and have leveled up to 25. When the game says it has a bazillion guns it's not joking, almost every character carries a different gun and every time you open a treasure chest it has new guns that entire party scrambles to get a glimpse of.
Yeah the party Jimmy. This a four player co-op RPS, RPS means Role playing shooter. It's something new. Kind of like something people were asking for after playing Fallout 3 for a little while. Where is the co-op? Here it is in Borderlands.
The setting here is a distant planet named Pandora. More like a Mad Max type world than a "Capital Wasteland." The graphics are cel-shaded, yes Jimmys are still making cel-shaded games. The game looks cool, the graphics don't really make a huge difference for me. The gunplay is spot on, the menu takes a little getting used to and the driving takes some practice.
I'm really enjoying this game and I look forward to playing it. It's super fun and really ... any game that's multiplayer that has a solid party system that is easy to use and most importantly FUN. My final verdict here is an easy choice.

Sorry I haven't been very active lately guys. Been busy with my birthday and some other stuff, but to make it up to you I've got a review of Duke Nukem Forever.
Duke Nukem Forever. The game that most of us never thought would see the light of day, has finally been released. Was it worth the wait?
Graphics: Let's start here. Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for about 12 years now, and it definitely shows. The graphics in this game are very sub-par compared to the games were used to seeing released nowadays, but I wouldn't say they're terrible. They look like a very early 360 game, or maybe even a late Xbox game. They get the job done but don't be expected to be blown out of the water by any means. There are posters on the wall that are so blurry you can't read them, and Duke's jumping animation when looking in a mirror is laughable. Literally, I laugh every time I see it.
Story: I'm going to tell you right now that if you waited for Duke all these years hoping for an epic story you're going to be very VERY disappointed. Pretty much Aliens came to earth, and duke needs to stop them....again. But this time they've taken all the women, and Duke won't stand for that. And that's the entire story. I've played through and have beaten Bioshock 2 twice now on normal and hard difficulties. The game is fun, a few changes from the original which are good and bad in the long run. The graphics and sound design are spot on. At first, I thought the graphics were a little weaker than the original, but that won't make a difference as you play Bioshock 2.
So when I say it's easier the second time through on hard, what I mean is ... it's easier. The second time through I killed every Little Sister. Killing them gets you plenty of extra Adam(Adam is what you use to buy new or upgrade your plasmids(plasmids is the stuff you shoot out of your left hand.)) That's for the noobs. Anyway killing every Little Sister will get you plenty of Adam to level up. I was so powerful at the end of my second run through I was just standing there watching everyone else fight each other. First off I would turn invisible when I stood still for a second. Then I always had two of my own security bots flying around, doing a perimeter check and their stats were maxed out. I had the Swarm plasmid maxed out and a swarm of bees would seek out any splicer in the room and eat them up. Also, the bees would lay dormant in the dead bodies waiting for another splicer to walk by to attack them. Finally, my other ally was a Big Daddy. The level three Hypnotize can take control of Big Daddies, So I had two flying security bots, a swarm of killer bees and a Big Daddy running around the room killing everything while I ate a sandwich.Read full story...
A crowded October gets some much needed space...
In a move that shouldn't be too surprising considering all the mega releases coming this Fall, Take-Two Interactive has shifted the release date for The Darkness II from October 4 of this year to Feburary 7 of next year.
2K Games announced today that The Darkness(TM) II, for all previously announced video game consoles and PC, is now planned for release on February 7, 2012 in North America and February 10, 2012 internationally. Currently in development with Digital Extremes and based on the supernatural horror comic book series created by Top Cow Productions, Inc., The Darkness II delivers a brutal and personal narrative as gamers take control of Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and wielder of an ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction known as the Darkness.

The room goes crazy as everybody gets a free copy of Borderlands 2... and also pizza.
We didn't think we were going to get into this panel as it started right after our interview with Jeramy Cooke. By the time we got to the theater, we had to wait in the standby line. We managed to get in though when they called for a group of three we were the first in the overflow line to jump for that!
Watch as Randy Pitchford does his best Oprah and gives everyone a great prize then makes the crowd recite an oath of thanks for the free gift. Everybody pulls the same "I state your name" joke too. Awesome...

My review of Bioshock for the Xbox 360!
After I finished playing Bioshock, I knew immediately that I'd played an amazing game. That feeling after finishing a game where the game just sticks with you, I felt that with Bioshock. It was an incredibly emotional game. The mystery of the world of Rapture sticks with you long after the game ends. And yet, frankly, at first I had a hard time summing what it was that made Bioshock so amazing. It really left me at a loss for words, and I had to postpone writing this review for several days so I could actually figure out what made the game so amazing.
For starters the atmosphere in Bioshock is amazing. And by atmosphere I mean more than visuals. Sure, the visuals are amazing (a bit on that in a minute), but the whole game's presentation is just immersive and amazing. I don't think I've ever felt so totally involved in a game before. The world of Rapture is just so intriguing and well conceived that, despite it's obvious sci-fi setting, it seems almost plausible. The world is well developed; it's as if the developers actually mapped out every square inch of Rapture. The problem with all of this is that, while the city of Rapture is presented as being this huge underwater world, you really feel confined to the small corridors and buildings the game lets you into. A breathtaking opening cinematic makes Rapture feel huge, but you'll quickly feel disappointed once you find out you're constrained to the path the developers put you on. With all the attention to detail in the world, it's a shame that they confined you so much.

Goukijones, FnJimmy, and BatRastered played the media only demo of Borderlands 2 at E3 2012 for the first time featuring Axton and Zero as playable characters.
2K had a playable version of Borderlands 2 on the show floor. It was the same demo from PAX East featuring Maya and Salvador (the siren and gunzerker classes) at level 20. The line for this got incredibly long very early in the day. Luckily we had an appointment to play, even better, the invitation-only press demo featured all four characters. For the first time, we were allowed to play as Axton (the commando class) and Zero (the infiltrator class). Additionally, this demo was set five levels higher (at 25, giving us 20 skill points to spend) and in a different area.
Goukijones and I teamed up on one set of screens, where I picked Zero and he picked Axton. Axton's skill is very similar to Roland, the soldier class in the first game, where he can drop a turret on the map that will take care of any nearby enemies. Goukijones leveled it up to include extra guns and the new turret works in 360 degrees unlike the original which only worked in 180. I leveled up Zero's skill to last longer and give bonus critical hit damage. Zero turns invisible, puts out some decoys for the baddies to shoot at and highlights the critical hit areas on enemies you are looking at. This gives you a great chance to do some serious sniper damage or creep up and deliver a killer melee blow. Zero's skill actually reminded me more of the original siren, Lilith's skill in the original Borderlands as it gives you the ability to sneak around unseen to your objective, whereas the new siren, Maya has a straight-up offensive technique with the phaselock.Read full story...
In a secret kitchen hidden inside the Los Angeles convention center we watch a demo of XCOM with studio director Martin Slater.
Xcom is a classic computer game, that what I think most of the Jimmys that made the original Bioshock are trying to remake. So for me, this is a no-brainer. I loved the first Bioshock, I think it is one of the best games of all time. So we sit down right in the front of the room and take a swig from my soda bottle, Jimmy! Wink wink. Martin Slater was standing up front, BatRastered and I quickly introduced ourselves and exchanged business cards. Martin was totally laid back and knew a lot about the preview we were watching, he guided us through.
I have seen this video before, or clips of it or something. It’s not bad. The graphics seem very rough and you can tell it’s an early build. The setting is like Bioshock on land, during the day. The game is very ominous with various things scurrying about trying to give you a scare. Black blobs of static electricity to be honest. The action scene takes place inside a house where the black static blobs are attacking a family and you need to go in and kill everything. When it’s time to leave a giant alien rectangular cube appears and turns into a donut looking object.*see video* At this point the donut looking object begins blasting away and sucking up debris all around you. The demo ends with you escaping.
I want to play this game, there is no doubt. I think it’s going to be very deep. The world map was shown for a few moments during the demo and you could clearly see that your options for different things to do at this point across the United States.Read full story...
A couple of jimmys got a behind closed doors demo of 2K's new squad based 3rd person shooter...
Spec Ops: The Line was demoed for us today, here's some initial thoughts.
The game takes place in near-future Dubai that has been covered meters deep in sand and nearly abandoned. The unique setting provides some great opportunities for spectacular level design. We only saw half a level, so I can't say if the game will live up to that promise, but the visuals I did see were quite good especially considering that this was a very early build (The Line is scheduled for a 2011 release). With the arterial spatter and the corpses being devoured by crows, this is an M-rated title for sure.
The sand plays an important role, as it allows you to use the environment to your advantage, either by destroying a wall and dumping tons of sand (tons!) on your enemies or blowing up a window allowing sand into the building you are trying to find a way out of and using said sand as stairs.
You play as the captain and roll with two jimmys beside you that you can issue commands to, but the AI seems to do pretty well on its own already. This is where the biggest dissapointment came in; even though this is a squad based shooter, there will be no co-op in the campaign. (Though there will be a separate co-op "experience" that the developers were not ready to take the wraps off of yet.) Seriously though, I know not every game can be co-op through the story, but a squad based shooter is just such a natural fit for that, I guess I just expect it now and am dissapointed when I don't see it.
Stay tuned as this game gets closer to release, I see some potential here if the multiplayer comes through.
