Just a few days after Seth Killian's departure from Capcom, word comes that he will be working with Sony Santa Monica studios and representing Playstation All-Stars Battle Royal at EVO later this week.

Just a few days ago we wrote about Seth Killian's departure from Capcom and speculated about what he might be up to at EVO this year. Well wonder no more!

Seth has been hired as "the lead game designer for the external group at the Sony’s Santa Monica Studio". What is the external group? In Seth's own words:

"The external group works with Sony’s outside studios — teams like Queasy Games (Sound Shapes), Fun Bits Interactive (Escape Plan), thatgamecompany (Flower, Journey), and… SuperBot Entertainment, makers of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale!"

Seth seems plenty excited about PS All-Stars and still being part of EVO:

"You don’t have to take my word for it, however–we’ll be taking All-Stars on the road and making sure you guys have plenty of opportunities to go hands-on, starting with PlayStation’s first official presence at EVO this weekend. More details soon."

Yeah Seth, "details soon"... EVO is only 4 days away ya Jimmy! (I know, I couldn't believe that either.) We'll be sure to catch up with Seth when the Gouki.com crew visits EVO 2012 in Las Vegas this weekend.

Sony has finally revealed the console of the Playstation 4. Check it out!

Sony Playstation 4 looks like a futuristic PS2 and comes in a lot smaller than the Xbox One. There was also some really good news coming out of the Sony conference in relation to used games and always online rumors.

President and CEO of SCEA Jack Tretton said that the PlayStation 4 will not impose any new restrictions on the gamer. PS4 will allow used games and the ability to rent, trade in, or loan your disc based games to friends.

Also the PS4 will not require an online connection to play your single player games nor does it require a 24 hour internet check in. In fact it requires no internet check in at all.

So basically all of the nasty things that Microsoft is doing with the Xbox One is not happening on the Playstation 4.

The PS4 is also coming later this year at $399.

What do you think about the PS4 and the no DRM and no Always Online? Tell us what you think in the comments. Don't be a Jimmy!

BatRastered's E3 2009 journal

By: BatRastered Oct 5, 2009 | 4 Comments

Copied from the old gouki.com, my E3-2009 journal.

E3 2009 Day 0 (MS Press Conference)

Microsoft really knows how to put on a press conference. No charts, graphs, or sales figures, just game announcements, trailers and live demos.

The surviving Beatles take the stage for The Beatles Rock Band cool to see them. Exclusive track for the 360, All You Need is Love, proceeds go to charity.

Modern Warfare 2 looks amazing. It’s multi-platform of course, so not sure why they chose the MS press conference for this.

Final Fantasy 13 and Metal Gear Solid are coming to the 360. God of War is now the only PS3 exclusive that I give a shit about.

Halo 3: ODST looks just about what I expected (which is a good thing) and it releases this September with a bonus; each copy includes an invitation to the new Halo: Reach beta. Sign me up.

Alan Wake, again? And it’s not even coming out this year, which means we will see it again next E3. F.

Facebook on Xbox Live, FTW!

Project Natal, Microsoft’s motion tracking video camera system was demoed at the end. If this works, it will be revolutionary; if it doesn’t it will be the Eye Toy part 2.

Nice work slamming Nintendo for the preset waggles. Preset Waggles is my new favorite saying.

E3 2009 Day 1

9:00 am - We started off by watching the Nintendo press conference. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. The only thing that looked any good was the new Metroid co-developed by Team Ninja, which won’t be released this year.

There is a new Mario Bros. game set for the Wii that is 4-player simultaneous. There’s no hint of being able to play it online, and the graphics look like they could be on the SNES.

Also, there will be a sequel to Mario Galaxy, which looks like a 1.5 release to me, as I saw nothing new. This will not make it this year either.

11:00 am – The Sony press conference begins… after 10 minutes of the announcer saying there’s still seats available. Most of what they show is 3rd party games that are also available on the 360.

They wasted a bunch of my time talking about the PS2 and giving charts and figures that nobody cares about.

Interesting PS3 only titles: Final Fantasy 14 (online) but not till next year. God of War 3, but we knew that going in. Finally, Mod Nation, which is a surprisingly good looking Mario Kart type racer that allows you to create tracks, impressed me.

Not interesting: A motion controller that still is a controller, and another PSP SKU.

2:00 pm – At last at the exhibits!

Gouki and I got into the press area of Bethesda software and got a first look and hands on demos of Point Lookout (DLC for Fallout 3), Wet, and Rouge Warrior. Wet looks decent, Rouge Warrior’s AI seems pretty dumb at this point. It releases in Q4, so there’s time to fix it, but not much.

I got to play the new Ghostbusters game. It looks amazing, the controls are a bit touchy, but that might just be me not being used to the PS3 controller.

I also played Marvel vs. Capcom 2 using the Street Fighter 4 fight stick. Feels much like the arcade, though that was so long ago for me that I’m not sure anymore.

Notable absence: No Kentia hall this year!

5:00 pm – Where’s Jimmy?

E3 2009 Day 2

Day 2 at E3 and I’m usually more interested in finding someplace to sit down than anything else. We went to see the Modern Warfare 2 demo that had a countdown running for it, but it turned out to be nothing more than the trailer we’d seen a week ago. (I don’t understand why that’s not just up there in the mix with all the other trailers on Activision big screen.)

Speaking of the other trailers, the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game looks amazing. Hopefully it plays as well as it looks. Hopefully we will get some hands on with this on Day 3.

Quick notes:

  • Ubisoft has the best overall booth babes (and a ton of them)
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum is in every other booth.
  • Where is Bioshock 2?

E3 2009 Day 3

The last day of the Expo. My feet hurt. Didn’t really see anything new. Jimmy dressed up as Akuma and got lots of attention.

Afterwards we went to the Dodgers game and watched them lose to the Phillies. Cole Hamels pitched a complete game shutout throwing less than 100 pitches. Ridiculous.

Dreamcast and PS2 Games Heading to PSN?

By: jalexbrown Sep 22, 2009 | 1 Comments

Are there going to be PS2 and Dreamcast games available on the PSN?

According to some supposed notes from a SCEA/Sega meeting, it was discussed between the two companies that there was interest in bringing PS2 and Dreamcast games to the PSN.  The notes hint at Sega providing SCEA with a list of Dreamcast games that they're interested in releasing, and Sony will decide which ones they want as exclusives.  Furthermore, SCEA allegedly agreed to provide heavier marketing support for games that Sega agreed to keep exclusive longer.  Also mentioned in the notes, SCEA is interested in selling all PS2 games on the PSN.  There's no specific definition of all, but I can't imagine it being a very literal all.  In either case, the notes do seem to suggest that in some capacity, the PS3 owners may be able to get their hands on certain PS2 and Dreamcast games via the PSN.

Vlog #14 E3 2010 press conference review

By: goukijones Jul 1, 2010 | 10 Comments

Introducing BatRastered, with special guests FNJimmy and Choke. Also special appearances by Major Nelson, StarSlay3r, Geoff Keighley, and gaming legend Adam Sessler.

Filmed just one week removed from E3 2010 the Gouki.com staff looks back at the E3 2010 press conferences. Introducing BatRastered, with special guests FNJimmy and Choke. Also special appearances by Major Nelson, StarSlay3r, Geoff Keighley, and gaming legend Adam Sessler. This non-stop romp the E3 press conferences is a brutal realization that these major corporations barely know how to entertain. EA's press conference had the most potential entertainment wise just hoping that Joel Mchale might just say something crazy. Which almost happened, but he seemed reserved most of the time and had to read very specific lines at some point. Sony lost points because Jack Tretton straight up says he didn't want Kevin Butler hosting because of his own EGO. WTF? So bore us to death.

Then there's the games which is mostly what this is about. Don't be a Jimmy! Enjoy Vlog #14 E3 2010 press conference review.

Leave some comments Jimmy and like this story!! Thanks.

One of my personal most highly anticipated games right now, is inFAMOUS 2. I got a chance to sit down and play the recent demo. You know, that same one from the video that was released last week.

When I saw inFAMOUS 2 on display and playable at CES over the weekend I was ready to pound it. I love that gameplay video that was released last week. I've seen it like 5 times. I saw that the floor demo was the same thing, I knew I was gonna be able to PWN. Special thanks to Joe Castagno from Sony for being totally smooth while we filmed him talking about inFAMOUS 2. Joe knew everything about the game and was very informative.
Needless to say, demo railed. Here's the highlights:

0:15 Joe Castagno explains inFAMOUS 2
0:31 goukijones begins the gameplay demo
1:05 goukijones gets hit
1:10 goukijones asks if there is a Block or a Counter
1:14 Joe says not for this demo
2:08 Doesn't seem to be a smooth transisition here
2:13 goukijones asks about inFAMOUS 2 release date
2:17 Official Sony Release Date repsonse
2:21 goukijones asks about multiplayer and/or co-op
2:51 Nubfarm!
3:21 Unskippable cut scene
3:53 Chopper down
4:06 Ionic Vortex free roam
4:20 People and cars flying away in a giant tornado
4:40 Cinderkin asks about the Demo Release Date
5:08 Demo railed

Sony releases a 12GB flash memory based PS3 because... reasons.

By: BatRastered Aug 19, 2013 | 2 Comments | Updated: Aug 20, 2013

Ever want a PS3 without a hard drive? Me either, but now you can save some cash if you do.

You can now get a PS3 for $199. But it only has 12 GB of storage. Given many of the PS3 games require installation, this won't last you very long. However, if you're just looking for an awesome blu-ray/netflix/hulu etc. box that occasionally plays games, this will save you some cash.

I highly recommend getting one of the 500 GB bundles though, if you're serious about using the PS3 as a gaming system. A full 500 GB plus a full retail game plus 30 days of PSN+ for only 70 bucks more.

This one has GTAV included (will be released on September 17) and you get release date shipping.

Reality Fighters for NGP is pretty neat

By: iorilamia Jun 2, 2011 | 7 Comments

Making fighters a bit more "realistic".

Sony's NGP has some badassnice ideas for a fighting game. Using the built-in camera you can take a picture of your face and map it to the character. Another cool trick with the camera is taking a pic of the place where you want to battle. The game also have 12 different fighting styles, a bunch of costumes and around 200 weapon-types.

Ballet style FOR THE WIN! The game apparently has a Tekken feel (not nearly as deep) and will be launched with the NGP. How does this sound to you jimmy's? Looks nifty to mess around with. Leave your thoughts in a comment.
