E3 Nintendo Press Conference Review

By: reipuerto Jun 7, 2011 | 5 Comments

My take on Nintendo's Press Conference. With pictures! ;)

Press conference starts off with link's history through out time, done by full orchestral.

Shigiro Miyamoto gets on stage and gets a translator. eShop channel for the 3DS will have the Gameboy Color; The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awaking DX and not the DX version, shame. The DS will also including a Legend of Zelda Four Sword for free! There's also a Zelda concert that'll be preforming in each region! Free sound track from Club Nintendo if you register your Zelda 3DS. Zelda will also receive a gold controller for Skyward Sword. Bundle? Then Miyamoto-san gives thanks for all these years of gaming!

Satouro Iwata comes and talks about Wii2. The crowd gets blue balls! It's schedule for coming next year, 2012. Titles shown are;

Mario Kart 3D, Star Fox 3D, New Super Mario Bros, Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion 2, and some more.

Reggie comes on stage. Shows off Mario Kart 3DS. You can now drive underwater and is schedule to be released this holiday season.

Star Fox 3DS. Uses till controls(as shown above) and 3D. Has a great feature of real face time and will be available this September and well as Mario before this year.

Kid Icarus shows of multiplayer and a Kid Icarus battle card game!

Lugi's is back in Luigi's Mansion 2! Looks funny and fun! Several new mansions!

Then some trailers are show with games to come, like: Ace combat 3D, Tetris 3D, Tekken 3D, MGS Snake Eater 3D. The eShop will also have demo's via in gamestore, and trailers, later this year. Pokemon 3D is not what we though. It's pokemon and it has spot pass so you can collect them all.

The he talks about the new name system, called WiiU, which is about you and me! The controller was only shown but it has a 6.2 screen on the controller, microphone, gyros, accelerometers, speakers, rumble, inward and outward facing cameras, and all Wii accessories work with it. Not a portable machine but an extension of the system. Has crazy possibilities. Smash Brothers was annoucced for both 3DS and WiiU!!

Official game, Lego City Story is an open ended city for both WiiU and 3DS.

EA parnership for WiiU. Reggie showing video of developers praising the Wii U, like; Peter Moore, Yves Guillemot, Danny Bilson, Ken Levine, and more.

Darksiders 2 will be at launch! Batman Arkham City! Assassin's Creed! Ghost Recon! Aliens: Colonial Marines was just shown running on Wii U at the Nintendo E3 press conference! Nintendo has Ninja Gaiden 3!

It's AMAZING! Think about it. The controller is the CONNECTION to the WiiU. The system is still separate! But this bring more questions than answers. How much will the controller be and the System be?

It's coming holiday 2012, so we still have much more to see! Let us know, down below!

Don't be a Jimmy! Lol!

Prepare to die 1,000 deaths, as I unleash my team upon the fighting world.

My Team for Street Fighter X Tekken, couples two of the most powerful, most brutal, and most sinister characters of all time.

From The Tekken side, comes Kazuya Mishima. A formidable fighter, always locked into "mortal combat" with his Father and his Son. Kazuya unleashes brutal combos and "electrifying" power. But his true power, lies within. Once an uncontrollable beast, Kazuya can now call upon the power of his evil gene. When the Devil is unleashed no one is safe. Multiplying Kazuya's strength and gaining new abilities, this monstrocity will destroy all...but his partner, may also be his ultimate rival.

From The Street Fighter side, comes The Raging Demon himself, Akuma (or Gouki). Hands down the most powerful entity in the Street Fighter universe. He has broken men physically, emotionally and mentally. No one can stop his power. He is a titan of all fighting games, rivaling such bosses as Shao Kahn (MK). His special moves are uncanny in there force.

Can these two Demons of Fighting be stopped? the answer is quite simple...

Tekken: The Movie

By: Core Jan 15, 2010 | 6 Comments

This movie looks awesome...for 1993.

Welcome to the Iron Fist Tournament. They've actually found a way to make a videogame to movie adaption that travels back in time just so it can be awesome.

"The purpose of the Iron Fist Tournament isn't to kill, or to die. The purpose is to suck."

Choke's Choice for HIS Street Fighter x Tekken Team

By: choke Feb 14, 2012 | 5 Comments

My Team

So I already knew who one of my two characters was months ago.   The moment I heard they were in the game, I knew.

Poison.   Duh.   SAY NO TO PROP 8!   Plus Jimmy will be ultra distracted during gameplay.

The 2nd member was a process.

1.  Eliminate all Tekken characters because Tekken is awful.

2.  Eliminate all ShotokoKONNONWNONK characters because .....  well, there's no explanation needed really.

3.  Eliminate Rufus because Rufus along with Hakan are the worst designed Street Fighter characters in history.   I'd rather play Gil

This leaves

Abel (potential)

Balrog (Not a fan of his moves typically)

Cammy (I like the Poison/Cammy combo with the whole Interpol teams up with NYC Tranny Police Department, but in the end, just not really a fan of playing Cammy in previous games)

Chun-Li (never been a fan of her moveset)

Cody (I can't have a former lover of Poison's on her team.  I need new love)

Dhalsim (if you've ever seen me play Dhalsim, this is self explanatory)

Guile (Hm, maybe, though I tend to like to play characters that are a little against the grain. )

Guy (I'm assuming Cody shared with Guy.   Too much history.  Though teaming someone named GUY with Poison is kinda hilarious)

Hugo (360 Characters are a no go for me.   if a move requires more than 180 degrees, I'm fucked.  I'M GETTING TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT)

Ibuki (too combo dependent.  I can't do any combo that is longer than 2 hits)

Juri (too many moves.  I need characters who have 3-4 moves max.  Not ones where you hold a button then jump around and do other things then let go of a button.   WUT)

Bison (there's something appealing about this teamup.   Potential)

Rolento (like the sound of this)

Vega (nah, havent enjoyed playing him since SFII Championship.  Dont expect that to change now)

Zangief (see Hugo)

So final 4 are Abel, Guile, Bison, and Rolento.

I'll probably end up trying all of these as a combo.   Abel since I have some more recent familiarity with using his character (poorly, to boot).

The kinkiness that will ensue......

Did Negan from AMC's The Walking Dead steal the show at EVO 2018?!

This has to be one of the biggest major crossovers I have ever seen in fighting games.  I thought Marvel VS Capcom was a pretty big deal when it came out so many years ago.  Now in 20XX are we going to have Tekken VS AMC with Heisenberg, Negan, and half the cast from Enter the Badlands?  FGC gonna be LIT with pop culture.

8 minutes of more SF x Tekken Gameplay!

By: iorilamia Apr 13, 2011 | 6 Comments

More gameplay of th eagerly waited fighter!

Uploaded by (who is also a great Killzone 3 contributor), brings up 8 minutes of Sf X Tekken. Lots of interesting combos shown. You can still see how some things look a bit awkward, game still has a ways to go. Enjoy.

King is lookiing especialy nice. Did a gnarly leg-grab counter on Ryu's air tatsu. The dramatic camera angles on the throws are cool, but could get a bit annoying. Let us know what you think in comments below, jimmy.

Tekken takes the big screen with a Vengeance (UPDATED!)

By: neiogeo Aug 14, 2011 | 7 Comments

"Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D" premiered for one night only in select theaters early this month and I got a chance to witness Namco-Bandai's first CG motion picture...Is this hot franchise's big screen debut the new hotness, or a hot mess?

Trailer 1

Trailer 2

Tekken. The movie. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard that one before. Heck, Tekken's been in pretty much al kinds of media, from Manga to Novels, to Anime. To movie-going gamers, the mere thought of a "videogame adaptation" is cringe-worthy, and with good reason: Hollywood’s yet to get the videogame formula right. After years of hits (Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, Silent Hill) and misses(Street Fighter:The Legend of Chun Li, Max Payne) has someone finally discovered the cure to videogame necrosis?

The Story

"Tekken: Blood Vengeance" is set between the storylines of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and Tekken 6. Heihachi Mishima’s death has left the Mishima Zaibatsu in chaos. Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima lead a secret war against each other, and the Devil Gene’s secret is about to be revealed by either man’s company. Standing in their way is Ling Xiaoyu, a transfer student from Mishima Tech, on a mission to seek out an extraordinary young man named “Shin Kamiya” and learn what she can about him. Along the way, she meets Alisa Bosconovitch, an overly friendly foreign exchange student, who also happens to be after the guy in question. What she learns about the Mishima bloodline, and the Devil gene itself, will change everything she knew about her world, the Tekken Tournament, and those she interacts with.

The Goods

Does Tekken deliver? In one word: yes. Tekken is all about going big and going hard, which is precisely what this movie does. From the introduction, we see that this movie's not messing around, with plenty of martial arts, slow-mo pans, and things going boom all around us. The 3D actually helps the film by enhancing the scenery. Not once will there be any awkward pop-up or annoying booger(i.e. object blocking our view) in the scene; our attention is diverted towards the middle at all times. A good example is during a fight between protagonist Xiaoyu and Alisa that just goes nuts after we discover Alisa's "hidden talent" - the action is always the focus of the camera and any collateral damage is neatly caught witihin our field of vision.

What about the hardcore fans? What's in it for them? plenty. While the entire Tekken roster is absent from this one, the ones who matter are showcased in grand fashion. Jin, Kazuya, Nina, Anna, Xiaoyu, Alisa, Panda and even some cameo appearances from Ganryu and Lee, are all included. While the dubbing was hit or miss at times, the cast meshed quite nicely with one another. We've heard Nina and Anna speak in english, the other characters, like Jin and Kazuya, debuted their english accents with style and point; these were the main characters and you knew it. They had presence, even if they only spring into action at the film's climax....and what a lovely climax it is. It's then that you know you're watching not only a Tekken movie, but a full-length feature film: the scope of the movie goes beyond what you'd expect out of a direct-to-dvd film and grants you one hell of a thrill ride. Make no mistake about it: Namco Bandai/Digital Frontier made sure this film's climax was unforgetable.

The Catch

As a film, Tekken:BD is amazing. As a precursor to Tekken 6, it's a step in the right direction. Like every videogame side story, Tekken fills in some deep plotholes while making brand new ones. Xiaoyu's involvement with Jin is always questioned, but never elaborated on. The new guy Shin Kamiya, is introduced, but never really "introduced" even if the circumstances don't really play out in his favor. We learn about the vicious Devil Gene and its' origins, but not about how the MIshimas come in contact with it. We get an explanation about Nina and Anna's conflict, but it's really random and cliche'd. Also, like every foreign animated film, there's a lot lost in translation here; mannerisms, gestures, and sayings get lost in the shuffle, leading to some awkward situations and the occaisional double-entendre. You'll laugh, but not always at the comedy. Still, most of these are small details in comparison with the overall picture.

The Verdict

"Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D" does what it's supposed to: entertain you with dazzling visuals, vivid, colorful set pieces, and amaze you with incredible feats of skill and technique. It's a roller coaster of a movie that'll keep you on the edge of your seat, only because you want to see what happens next. If you're a fan of fighting games, Tekken, or heck, even CG movies, I highly recommend you give this one a go when it's released as part of "Tekken Hybrid" later this year.
