Remember back when Cliff Bleszinski said that playing games like UT3, BulletStorm and Shadow Complex would give you rewards in Gears of War 3? Me either but apparently he did, and now that is not the case anymore.
In a tweet made by Cliff back in December he stated "Look for special unlocks in Gears 3 for those of you who have played other Epic games such as Shadow Complex, UT3, Gears, and Bulletstorm,"
Well it seems that is no longer the case because in a tweet from Gears of War 3's Lead Programmer Joe Graf said "Turns out that we can't read the Bulletstorm, Shadow Complex, and UT3 achievements for unlocks in Gears 3 after all. Sorry about that all," He also stated "For those of you that are sad about the unlocks, it turns out that you can't read the data outside of your publisher/dev family,"
Don't worry though because it seems that Gears 1 and 2 will still offer something for us gamers in Gears 3. "All of the Gears games are in our publisher/dev family, so those we will reward with unlocks," said Gaf
Gaf also confirms that playing in the Gears of War 3 beta will have some rewards as well.
So be sure to hold onto your Gears of War 1 and 2 gamesaves, hopefully it will pick up achievements instead. And don't forget to check out the Gears of War 3 beta only accessed through BullestStorm which launches this March.

Cliffy B just couldn't resist putting his face in one of those cool Bulletstorm videos. Demo date confirmed through Twitter. And finally the word on multiplayer and it's not what you would expect.
Bulletstorm demo date confirmed via @danacowley on twitter yesterday. January 25, 2011. We're gonna get the Echoes mode which is, campaign levels that you play solo and compete for high scores against your friends. I'm a little disappointed if I won't be able to experience some of the co-op. Either way though, I will be playing the demo and playing the shit out of it hopefully. Bulletstorm looks like a TON of fun.
In a new Bulletstorm video posted, not included in the Bulletstorm preview I just wrote two days ago.
Bulletstorm Weapons and Anarchy mode - Cliffy B jumps in to take up Tanya Jessen screen time. Sad face. So Cliffy B is all up this video talking about the weapons. I'm exciting about the weapons. I'd be more excited if Tanya Jessen was telling me about them more. Remember that feeling you got throwing the Perfect Dark suitcase gun up against the wall as a turret? Bulletstorm has me interesting in seeing what I can do with their weapons. They all have some very cool concepts and secondary functionalities. The main premise of the game is to just fuck up as much shit as possible at a time and see who can score the most points.
So now we know, there is nothing traditional about the Bulletstorm multiplayer. There's PvP, but it's only for points. I don't think you will even be playing at the same time. Something similar to racing against your friends times on NFSHP. This is great, for that you can compete with your friends and you don't have to be online at the same time. I just don't think it will have much replay value. The hardcore Gears Jimmys are gonna be screaming that there isn't traditional multiplayer, but that is just not the style of Bulletstorm. Wait for Gears of War 3 ya Jimmy.

Eurogamer got an interview with Cliffy B at GDC recently. He tells us what $60 games should have these days...but Bulletstorm in no way, matches that...
So we all know what Bulletstorm is. Badass game with an 8 hour story, complete ass replay value and multiplayer that isn't very playable. Cliff was being interviewed by Egamers John Teti and Ellie Gibson.
Question starts at 15:30 " What do you think about Japanese game design right now..."
It starts about him talking about looking up to Japanese stuff as a kid, but then he goes into what video games should be like in general in todays market. Typed it out incase you didn't want to watch the video.

"... it's weird for me to see amazing games come out, and it's just a 7 hour campaign. And I'm like, Guys, detatch yourself from being these amazing creatives who kicked ass for so many years and be objective and look at the market right now. We are in the era of a cautious consumer. $60 is alot to ask for day 1 price. So if you don't make gamers love a game and marry it, you are gonna be a day 1 rental, or a campaign rental. ...."
You need to put enough value in your game. If you have a short campaign, you better have a deep multiplayer. If you don't have a deep multiplayer you better have a 60 hour campaign."
If you are interested in the full video, it is mainly about developing gears of war, hipsters, nerd/street cred that he has to protect and how Nintendo/Mario is his inspiration and similiar to the main character of Gears. Anyways.....
I couldn't help but laugh. Bulletstorm is basically an 8 hour campaign with complete crap for multiplayer. Only a few levels and horrible net code make it easy to surpass. Echo mode is a score-attack of campaign. I originally wasn't going to make a story out of this but...why not? In older interviews he prides himself about being able to play the game and talk about what he wants changed and overall make it a better game before release. Epic jimmy action. I just think it's incredibly stupid, how about you guys? Know any other developers like this? Leave your comments below.
