Innovation that really changes the experience of games is something that a lot of developers can't get right. Here's a list of Gouki.com's most innovative things in video games from 2010.

Super Street Fighter IV - Replay channel

Watch random fights online while you cook breakfast. Sometimes even fights you've been in pop up or fights from people on you friends list. The SSF4 was a great way to learn street fighter as well.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit - The Autolog

Nothing else released this year made me want to play a game more than the Autolog. The competition of getting the fastest time on racing, or playing a cop intrigued me to no end. I'd stay up all night trying to figure out how this Jimmy (ThaBrad) got 10 seconds on some random interceptor challenge.

Fable III - Friend stats and updates

I have 0 STD's, Creasemonkey has 6. Erik Estrada has 27 kids. Man of Ponage has 22,000,000 gold. These stats would pop up constantly while you were playing. They were also in real time.

Smackdown VS Raw 2011 - Create a superstar

Where this feature has it woes, the outcome of what you can create is still amazing.

Halo Reach - menu

People do not realize how brilliant the Halo Reach menu is, that you can go through the entire menu. Check friends online, see friends armor sets, change your armor, buy armor, change your buttons, view the stats from the game, save a copy of the game. It's ridiculous. Every game should be like this.

Winners will be announced December 29th. Did we leave anything out? What's your favorite? Leave a comment below! AND don't forget to vote for your favorites in our Video Game Catalog.

Jimmy Gems video game awards 2010 winners

And the awards go to...

Most Disappointing Game

Final Fantasy XIV

BatRastered: Any game that sends you a letter apologizing for itself is a strong contender here. I mean, holy crap. I knew this game was trouble when goukijones couldn't get the benchmark program to run on a newish Windows 7 machine. It’s amazing that, even though I didn’t expect this game to be good at all, I was still very disappointed by what it turned out to be.

Goukijones: From the moment BatRastered explained that the benchmark program was trying to use DirectX 9 - from 10 years ago. To the letter I got from Square Enix that said "We fired everybody, We're very sorry, FF14 is still free." This is by far one of the biggest debacles in the history of video games. Square Enix went from 14 billion $$$ to 1 billion $$$ estimated earnings. Square Enix rushed FF14 out to try and capture an escaping market from WoW and FF11. Square Enix also tried to get a jump on other major MMO releases like DC Universe Online and the Star Wars The Old Republic. Also the most recent WoW update railed the FF14 sales. Because of all of this, Deus EX was "delayed", I say it's canceled. There's rumors that FF13 Versus or whatever those alleged spin-offs were called, have also been canceled. Kingdom Hearts III is never going to come out. Square Enix and it's fans are in for a rough 2011.

2010 Jimmy Gem nominees for most disappointing game. Please comment.

Final Fantasy XIV

I just received an email from Square Enix this week apologizing for how much FF14 sucks and that the entire staff has been fired and they are starting over. I hated everything about this. Square Enix took out my favorite parts of Final Fantasy 11 and improved nothing in 14. Highly Disappointed.

Crackdown 2

This was the biggest cut and paste debacle in video game history. It took 3 years for this game to come out and had less content than the original. But it did have Zombies. Nubfarm.

Monday Night Combat

Played this one night. Terrible.

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions

Uhhhhh FNJimmy?

Naughty Bear

Same levels over and over and you couldn't progress until you scored enough points in one level, which means you have to play the same level over and over.

Front Mission

Mech game with foot Missions. Review.

Metroid Other M

This is not Samus. You realize we're talking about the female Boba Fett here right? Not some whining bitch who is going to listen to some random nuab lost on some random planet. "What do you mean I can't use my missiles? The button is just on the other side of that door. I, finna blow the shit outta this place."

Scott Pilgrim VS The World The Game

You could have put some modern game enhancements in this. Played it once. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Singularity

Beat this in 1 sitting. Abosultely terrible. Review.

Gran Turismo 5

Controversial!

Worst Deal for Gamers Jimmy Gems nominees

By: goukijones Dec 13, 2010 | 14 Comments

Do not pay full price for video games. These are the biggest rip offs for gamers this year.

Move controllers

You realize that some of these games require 2 of the same ball controller, like the boxing. I know, so what, right? Add it up. Move basic kit that comes with a game, the controller and the eye toy. $100. The Navigation controller if you want to play whatever games need this. $30. Then you need a second Move controller. $50. And then finally if you want to play that stupid boxing game, you need the game. $50. Total = Broke ass.

Bioshock 2 DLC

This is when every gamer knew we were totally being lied to by our publishers.

Kinect $50 extension cord

Wow really Microsoft?! That's just wrong. I hate cables. They are a Rip-off.

Super Street Fighter IV costumes

I like the costumes. Releasing a bunch of packs slowly and then a final pack at the end with all of them in it for a cheaper price is just wrong. Let me pay that price up front and as they release just let me DL them. Jimmy ass!

Online play codes

This bullshit is alienated the other half of the gaming community. The part of the community that buys games used or gets them from friends long after the game comes out. The part of the community that is excited to play with me, a game that I'm still playing because I enjoy it so much. Online play codes are the biggest bullshit.

Xbox Live price increase

Xbox Live annual cost was raised from $50 to $60. Unbelievable. I never thought we would see an increase. Most titles run on dedicated servers. And don't get me started on Online play codes fucking gamers in the ass.

Microsoft says it's for Kinect and that we'll have access to ESPN 3. I don't have a kinect and I don't have ANY need to watch ESPN 3. There should be an option for gamers who strictly just want to play online. ie Halo, COD, NFSHP. I don't need access to anything else on Xbox Live except my friends.

Best Playstation 3 exclusive Jimmy Gems Nominees

By: goukijones Dec 13, 2010 | 17 Comments

I have played all of these games. Uhhhhh here's the list ...

God of War III

I played about half way through this game.

ModNation Racers

Jimmy Modnation Racer mod

Gran Turismo 5

I did play this. Gran Turismo VS Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.

Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain isn't even in the catalog. I did play this game. I do not understand what people were so excited about. The first scene: The chick comes home with the groceries and asks me to help, I just sat on the couch and ignored her for 30 mins and watched cartoons.

Best XBLA game 2010 Jimmy Gems Nominees

By: BatRastered Dec 13, 2010 | 13 Comments

What's the best XBOX live arcade title in 2010? Here's our nominees. Leave your comments below.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

Goukijones and I had a great time solving the puzzles in co-op.

Shank

A bloody hack & slash with graphics straight out of Samurai Jack. I got a 100 hit combo Jimmy!

Limbo

A totally unique game with a some cool puzzles and lots of gruesome deaths. A tad short, but interesting nonetheless.

Super Meat Boy

PETA's worst nightmare, a block of meat as the hero. Another fun platformer for the XBLA.

Here are the nominees for 2010's best multi-player game. Let us know your favorite in the comments.

Halo Reach

Co-op campaign? Check. Firefight (horde mode)? Check. Deathmatches? Yup free-for-all and team. Capture the Flag? Sure... Single and multi! Don't forget oddball, invasion, stockpile, headhunter, infection, king of the hill, and assault with one bomb or multiple. All this plus a great matchmaking system that doesn't get in your way.

Super Street Fighter IV

Endless battle, enough said... amiright? Now that there is tournament mode too, not to mention the fun you and your buddies can have in local vs battles, the only thing stopping this from being played is the inevitable next version of the game.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

An XBLA summer of arcade game this year, Lara Croft surprised us with some neat co-op puzzle solving that may only be one-upped by the introduction of Portal 2 next year.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Wow... This game really came out of nowhere at the end of the year and has stolen all of our time. Even when you're not racing against your friends or random naubs in the online mode, your friend's times in the career are tracked and compared against yours in the autolog. A truly great feature that takes this game from interesting to awesome.

Winners will be announced December 29th. What's your favorite? Leave a comment below and remember to vote for your favorite games in our catalog.

What's the best XBOX 360 exclusive game in 2010? See our nominees and leave your opinion in the comments.

Mass Effect 2

Okay, this game is coming to the PS3. But that's next year. It was exclusive to the 360 this year, and that's what counts. That and the fact that it was a great game. I love exploring the galaxy, that map music still gets me hyped for my next adventure. Importing your old save from ME1 was a cool idea, though I wish they did more with it.

Halo Reach

The series that defines the XBOX continues to wow us (we'll just forget about that ODST shit for now) and give us countless hours of multi player fun. The latest entry in the Halo saga sets the bar even higher with AI team mates in the campaign that can actually shoot straight, firefight matchmaking and fucking jetpacks! Don't be fooled by King of Jimmy's clones!

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

A surprising entry here with an XBLA game, but we had fun playing through this adventure in co-op and solving the puzzles. Hint, if your stuck, through some spears in the wall and have Lara climb on them. 99% solved. Seriously though, most fun I've had with a Lara Croft game in a loooong time.

Fable III

I'll let this Jimmy tell you what he thinks:

"I've gotten 20 hours of gameplay out of Fable III and I'll probably get another 20 hours. I'd also like to recommend Fable II , which is my favorite in the series. But Fable III is still a great game and one of the best this year. Building your team and getting your followers for the revolution is a great idea. Fable III is the only game where you level up, beat the game and then go on an adventure. I like that idea a lot. I just wish the combat was more like Fable II. "

Alan Wake

This game has been talked about at more E3's than anything except GT5, so the hype was a bit over-blown and a let-down was almost surely in the cards. As it turned out, however, this game was pretty good. Sure the graphics looked like they were a few years behind the curve (probably since the engine was built all those E3's ago), but the game played well and the episodic nature of the storytelling worked.

Winners will be announced December 29th. Don't forget to vote for your favorite games in our catalog and leave your opinion below in the comments.
