Actual Gameplay of ssf4 3DS "shoulder view"

By: iorilamia Jan 9, 2011 | 7 Comments

Yoshinori's press conference shows us 3ds gameplay along with the shoulder view

At Yoshinori Ono's conference SSF4 on the 3DS was displayed. The preview has been thrown around for months and now we get to see it in action instead of a commercial. It looks pretty sick, and not too complicated, also the video doesnt give the eye popping effects as we will see in person, so this only gets better upon release. I for one love it, ssf4 on the go (no its not AE version), what do you guys think about it?

The action starts at15:00, everything before that is talking.

E3 2009 Day 0 (MS Press Conference)

Microsoft really knows how to put on a press conference. No charts, graphs, or sales figures, just game announcements, trailers and live demos.

The surviving Beatles take the stage for The Beatles Rock Band cool to see them. Exclusive track for the 360, All You Need is Love, proceeds go to charity.

Modern Warfare 2 looks amazing. It’s multi-platform of course, so not sure why they chose the MS press conference for this.

Final Fantasy 13 and Metal Gear Solid are coming to the 360. God of War is now the only PS3 exclusive that I give a shit about.

Halo 3: ODST looks just about what I expected (which is a good thing) and it releases this September with a bonus; each copy includes an invitation to the new Halo: Reach beta. Sign me up.

Alan Wake, again? And it’s not even coming out this year, which means we will see it again next E3. F.

Facebook on Xbox Live, FTW!

Project Natal, Microsoft’s motion tracking video camera system was demoed at the end. If this works, it will be revolutionary; if it doesn’t it will be the Eye Toy part 2.

Nice work slamming Nintendo for the preset waggles. Preset Waggles is my new favorite saying.

E3 2009 Day 1

9:00 am - We started off by watching the Nintendo press conference. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. The only thing that looked any good was the new Metroid co-developed by Team Ninja, which won’t be released this year.

There is a new Mario Bros. game set for the Wii that is 4-player simultaneous. There’s no hint of being able to play it online, and the graphics look like they could be on the SNES.

Also, there will be a sequel to Mario Galaxy, which looks like a 1.5 release to me, as I saw nothing new. This will not make it this year either.

11:00 am – The Sony press conference begins… after 10 minutes of the announcer saying there’s still seats available. Most of what they show is 3rd party games that are also available on the 360.

They wasted a bunch of my time talking about the PS2 and giving charts and figures that nobody cares about.

Interesting PS3 only titles: Final Fantasy 14 (online) but not till next year. God of War 3, but we knew that going in. Finally, Mod Nation, which is a surprisingly good looking Mario Kart type racer that allows you to create tracks, impressed me.

Not interesting: A motion controller that still is a controller, and another PSP SKU.

2:00 pm – At last at the exhibits!

Gouki and I got into the press area of Bethesda software and got a first look and hands on demos of Point Lookout (DLC for Fallout 3), Wet, and Rouge Warrior. Wet looks decent, Rouge Warrior’s AI seems pretty dumb at this point. It releases in Q4, so there’s time to fix it, but not much.

I got to play the new Ghostbusters game. It looks amazing, the controls are a bit touchy, but that might just be me not being used to the PS3 controller.

I also played Marvel vs. Capcom 2 using the Street Fighter 4 fight stick. Feels much like the arcade, though that was so long ago for me that I’m not sure anymore.

Notable absence: No Kentia hall this year!

5:00 pm – Where’s Jimmy?

E3 2009 Day 2

Day 2 at E3 and I’m usually more interested in finding someplace to sit down than anything else. We went to see the Modern Warfare 2 demo that had a countdown running for it, but it turned out to be nothing more than the trailer we’d seen a week ago. (I don’t understand why that’s not just up there in the mix with all the other trailers on Activision big screen.)

Speaking of the other trailers, the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game looks amazing. Hopefully it plays as well as it looks. Hopefully we will get some hands on with this on Day 3.

Quick notes:

  • Ubisoft has the best overall booth babes (and a ton of them)
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum is in every other booth.
  • Where is Bioshock 2?

E3 2009 Day 3

The last day of the Expo. My feet hurt. Didn’t really see anything new. Jimmy dressed up as Akuma and got lots of attention.

Afterwards we went to the Dodgers game and watched them lose to the Phillies. Cole Hamels pitched a complete game shutout throwing less than 100 pitches. Ridiculous.

Nintendo press conference

By: jalexbrown Jun 15, 2010 | 2 Comments

My impressions of Nintendo's keynote inside.

Okay, so I already posted a story about the Zelda announcement that headed Nintendo's keynote.  Since I already talked about that, I'll invite you jump to that article instead of me having to talk about it again.  So please, feel free to go read it and then come back - but please come back, because otherwise you will miss some incredible announcements.

You back?  Okay,  Good.

After Skyward Sword, Nintendo immediately went on to show a trailer for Mario Sports Mix.  I'm not a big fan of the Mario sports games of the past - but being on the Wii and having a mixture of sports in the same game, this actually looks pretty awesome.  There was a nice mix of sports including soccer, basketball, and volleyball.  And while Mario Sports Mix wasn't quite jaw-dropping, it was still a really nice announcement just the same.  Mario Sports Mix will be out in 2011.

Should I skip Wii Party?  If you take Mario Party and replace the Mario characters with Miis, then you've got Wii Party.  I just don't get it.  But oh well, I'm not going to dwell on it.

Just Dance 2...pass.

Next was a trailer for Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.  The trailer looked amazing.  This is classic JRPG that I've been wanting on the DS.  I'm really pumped about this game - a lot more than I expected to be prior to Nintendo's keynote.  I'm just...wow, this is going to be amazing.  If you're a Golden Sun fan, or just a JRPG fan in general, then you have to check this game out.  It will be out during the holiday season of 2010.

Goldeneye 007 Wii was the next announcement.  Now, I must say: the trailer - it looked like utter crap.  The visuals here were beyond disappointing, and the gameplay didn't really look like anything all that amazing.  Anyone that has played a Wii first-person shooter will already know that this probably won't end up very well, but still...it's Goldeneye, so it's definitely going to be a big deal for a lot of people.  It comes out during the holiday season of 2010.

Warren Spector came out to commentate on an Epic Mickey demo.  At first I was pretty skeptical; the beginning of the demo looked pretty lame.  But then Mickey jumped into a movie screen, and it went into a side-scrolling level themed after the Steamboat Willy cartoon - complete with black and white visuals.  At that point I was interested, but I really wish that the whole game was going to be 2D platforming; the 3D areas still looked like boring garbage.

The trailer for Kirby's Epic Yarn was...well, I'm not really sure what to say about it.  It's not my cup of tea - I can say that much for certain.  I think that the art style is charming enough to some people, but I just wasn't feeling it.  A Kirby fan might be into this; since I'm not a Kerby fan, I can't say much about this - except that it comes out in the fall of 2010.

There was a new trailer for Metroid: Other M that makes it look even better than it did last year.  The action looks to be amazingly smooth and fresh.  I think Metroid: Other M has a lot of potential to be amazing.  Team Ninja and Nintendo together - at first I was pretty skeptical, but now that I've seen more of it in action, I think it could just blow a lot of people's minds.  And the best part is the release date: August 31 of this year.

And then...and then...oh man, I think I'm going to faint!  Donkey...Kong...Country...Returns!  They showed off a trailer of this game, and I immediately had a nostaligic geek-out moment.  I literally jumped out of my chair in excitement.  The premise is that they're basically taking Donkey Kong Country and giving it the New Super Mario Brothers Wii treatment - and let me tell you something: it looks amazing!  As hard as it is for me to believe, this announcement totally owned Nintendo's keynote for me hands-down.  And it's coming out this year!!!  I'm...*passes out*

Nintendo revealed what Project Nora really was - Kid Icarus Uprising.  This is going to be a 3DS game.  The trailer looked really intriguing and fun.  And if the trailer gameplay is really any indication, then the 3DS is capable of some truly amazing graphics - because these looked almost like Wii graphics; I kid you not.  I'm...well, this could be really good.  I'm paying attention Nintendo; wow me.

The end of the keynote was the announcement of the actual Nintendo 3DS.  The whole "3D without glasses" concept was a bit overplayed, and unfortunately watching the keynotes on television offer you no way to see how this will actually look.  But we know that all you care about is the games, and Nintendo chose to focus on the third-party with a crapload of fantastic third-party titles in development:  DJ Hero 3D, Kingdom Hearts 3DS, Saint's Row 3DS, Madden and FIFA for 3DS, Resident Evil 3DS, Batman 3DS, Assassin's Creed: Lost Legacy, Ridge Racer 3DS, and...Metal Gear Solid 3DS(!!!).  Nintendo wasn't telling us anything about these games besides the fact that they're in development, but that's undeniably an amazing lineup of third-party games.  The only first-party that Nintendo mentioned was the aforementioned Kid Icarus Uprising and Nintendogs + Cats.  If Nintendo can keep a strong focus on the third-party, than the 3DS could end up being a real winner.

So Nintendo's conference was amazing - no need to tell you that.  Nintendo basically made all of the announcements that we've been speculating about for the last two or three years.  Bravo Nintendo.

Not a bad showing. Quick and had some really good talking points. We can't wait for Anthem.

Battlefield V Battle Royale was the first the major announcement from EA.  E3 “It is on.”  This press conference was an absolute cliche of what E3 continues to be year after year.  Including the finishing touch of unveiling a super boss fight at the end of a demo just to fade to black.  Do something new and actually show the boss fight for a change. Somebody, please. I do hope the show gets better than this EA presentation.  Here are my highlights.

Pre-order Amazon or Gamestop.

Battlefield V looks great.  This is the newest attempt to maximize this engine. The map looks huge, the destruction and weather environments look like a true next-gen game.  As far as the Battle Royale mode, it’s not much for a game like Battlefield V to add a mode like this.  I believe the core of the game is still going to be team-based conquest.  Vintage Battlefield.

Then Fifa was mention, but just a cinematic was shown.  Nothing new there.  EA’s subscription base game rental system had a video.  People are not into that shit from EA, they already think the company is sketchy as hell.  An announcement of Jedi Fallen Order from Respawn Games.

Then we had a short presentation for Star Wars Battlefront II.  The guy in the red flannel shirt said that The Clone Wars is coming to Battlefront later this year.  He also announced General Grievous, Obi-Wan, Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker.  Basically everything the BF2 community wanted to hear.  He only had one picture from what I saw and it was of Grievous.  Nothing else was shown or mention.  They are dedicated to the game.

Borderlands 3 How Does Instanced Loot Work?

By: goukijones May 8, 2019 | 1 Comments

From the gameplay reveal stream May 2019.

I'll just want share my highlights from the hour long gameplay demo and playthrough that aired live on the internet.  The graphics and design of the game looks like you would imagine a top tier game should look like in 2019.  It's beautiful. It showed incredible looking fires and water.  Mechanical wise... this is where stuff gets interesting.  The addition of sliding at the end of a run and being able to vault up walls is going to add so much depth to the platforming aspect of Borderlands and the treasure hunting.  This is all shown early in the video.

Vlog #14 E3 2010 press conference review

By: goukijones Jul 1, 2010 | 10 Comments

Introducing BatRastered, with special guests FNJimmy and Choke. Also special appearances by Major Nelson, StarSlay3r, Geoff Keighley, and gaming legend Adam Sessler.

Filmed just one week removed from E3 2010 the Gouki.com staff looks back at the E3 2010 press conferences. Introducing BatRastered, with special guests FNJimmy and Choke. Also special appearances by Major Nelson, StarSlay3r, Geoff Keighley, and gaming legend Adam Sessler. This non-stop romp the E3 press conferences is a brutal realization that these major corporations barely know how to entertain. EA's press conference had the most potential entertainment wise just hoping that Joel Mchale might just say something crazy. Which almost happened, but he seemed reserved most of the time and had to read very specific lines at some point. Sony lost points because Jack Tretton straight up says he didn't want Kevin Butler hosting because of his own EGO. WTF? So bore us to death.

Then there's the games which is mostly what this is about. Don't be a Jimmy! Enjoy Vlog #14 E3 2010 press conference review.

Leave some comments Jimmy and like this story!! Thanks.

No shows from Metroid and Yoshi after 2017's video teases. Don't worry tho, HELLA Smash Bros.

Ok, so there were a few games that Nintendo showed us that was alright.  The most exciting for me was Super Mario Party.  Overcooked 2 looked like it could be fun in the short term.  And Fortnite was finally announced for Switch and is available for free download today.  A few other games, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, etc. etc.  This was a very weak presentation from Nintendo.

Then we have 25 minutes of Smash. This is great news for fans of this game. It is the Ultimate version, which includes every single character from every Smash game.  It is the largest video game crossover ever.  Speaking about this 25-minute video, this is a perfect example of how I wish every game demo went for E3.  Here’s our new game.  New features.  New characters.  Things that used to work like this, work a different way now, here’s what it looks like.  The game director goes on and on about the game and its features.  Then ends with a release date  Oh how perfect all of E3 would be if it was just full of videos like this one below.

Pre-order on Amazon or Gamestop.

Thanks for reading!

A video showing some PlayStation symbols and a date, Feb 20, entitled "See the Future" was released by Sony yesterday.

EA press conference

By: jalexbrown Jun 14, 2010 | 4 Comments

Check out my impressions of EA's keynote speech inside.

So Microsoft's keynote was pretty disappointing; we all know it's true.  Unless you care about watching Kinect, there was very little that was interesting.  So then came EA's keynote.  Was it better than Microsoft?  For the most part, yes.

EA opened up with a new remake of Hot Pursuit.  I have to say it: I wasn't that much impressed by the demo.  It's from Criterion, and it certainly looked like it; the game really did appear to have a Burnout feel to it.  The graphics do look impressive, but I just can't get over the fact that the game looks more like a Burnout game than a Need for Speed game.  EA boasted that the game was going back to the Need for Speed roots, but I just didn't see it in the demo.

Almost every game Ubisoft showed today was going to have a beta you could register for. You can definitely try it before you buy it with most of these titles.  That is probably a good thing since nothing really stood out for me here.  I was hoping to see something new that I could be excited for, but that didn’t happen.  I was looking forward to seeing Skull and Bones, but that game looked unfinished and not at all fun.  The best looking game was Beyond Good and Evil 2, buuuuuut even in the gameplay clips of this game it looks just like every other action beat ‘em up.  Around 6:35 you can see the combat.

Here’s the entire clip from the press conference for Beyond Good and Evil 2.
