Team Gouki got a chance to play the new and improved GoW3 horde mode at Microsoft's E3 2011 booth. -Updated- FnJimmy's official take on horde mode video
E3 day 3, FnJimmy and I bolted at the opening striaght to the Gears of War demo. As we were standing in line, the Microsoft guys were passing around these giant cards of what to expect in the new Horde mode.
Check out FnJimmy's quick iPhone grab of the card:
If you can't read that (good luck) here's what we saw and played...
You start off by selecting an area to defend, we started in the hotel lobby. There are a bunch of glowing spots where you can set up fortifications such as barbed wire, turrets, and decoys. These slow down or even take out Locust as they try to make their way into the lobby, making them easy pickings for you. These fortifications aren't free, however. You need cash to set them up. You start off with a limited amount of cash, but you rack it up by killing enemies and completing any bonus objectives that pop up (these will require you to leave the relative safety of the fortified area usually, so watch out). In between rounds, you can purchase new fortifications, repair old ones, and get new weapons. Every 10th round is a boss wave... we had to fight this thing.
Unfortunately, you can't just lay down fortifications where you want, Gears has spots chosen for you. It's ok, but I expected a little better from the game that started this horde mode craze. Still, it's a lot of fun to build up your defenses and rail a bunch of Locust, especially when the big baddies come along.
We still haven't got a chance to see the campaign yet, but we did see the new limited edition Xbox 360 (with custom sounds!). Check this bad boy out...
Yeah... that's pretty sweet. I think it looks better than the Halo Reach edition. (We here at Gouki.com are especially fond of the red & black color scheme.)

Batman Arkham City is going to be amazing. Catwoman gameplay is it own unique style. I can't wait to play the full on version.
I can't say much. What can I say? This is my take right after I played Batman Arkham City at E3 2011 last Wednesday.

Darksiders II has been announced finally. The original is a Gouki.com editors choice and we're thrilled to hear about the sequel or are we?
The original Darksiders was like a grown up Zelda I always wanted. It's one of my favorite games. Excellent story, graphics and most importanly gameplay. Check out my Darksiders review and FnJimmy's first ever Golden Video Review Darksiders.
When the first game ended, I swear there was a shot of War's brothers coming to earth. This was the lead in for the sequel. Going back to my take on this game being like a grown up Zelda I was really hoping to see something like that gameboy game, The 4 Links. Where you have to team up and do the puzzles in the dungeons. Darksiders set this up perfectly. However the nubs over at DToid are talkin' this nonsense.
"Darksiders II is aiming to be a deeper experience, with NPC interaction and a detailed loot system. Seems they'll be bringing in a lot more RPG elements this time around, which I certainly won't say no to."
That's not what I wanted to hear, but it DToid, those Jimmys probrably talking out of their ass. I don't mind loot systems and weapon and armor upgrades, but I was happy with the way Darksiders was set up. Either, this game is totally on my list to check out next week at E3.Read full story...

FnJimmy and BatRastered head to Hollywood to see what's up with the new Transformers MMO currently in development.
Team Gouki was invited to a party for the new Transformers MMO - Transformers Universe, to be launched some time in 2012. The party was at the same time as the Sony press conference, so GoukiJones couldn't attend. FnJimmy and I watched a stream of the Sony conference and showed up fashionably late to the party. We were told there was free booze.
FnJimmy hearts Optimus
Given that E3 takes place at the LACC right in the heart of downtown L.A., attending a party in Hollywood meant a $30 cab ride (each way). This meant we had to have a bunch of free booze and hors d'oeuvres to make up for the trip. FnJimmy of course wouldn't eat anything because it had ingredients, so I made sure he got his fill of cleverly named drinks (there was an Autobotini and I can't really remember any other names as I had a dozen gin and tonics). I, on the other hand dined on lamb meatballs, mushroom flatbread pizza, and feta cheese stuffed pastry.
Oh yeah, the game... Well we didn't see anything of the game except for a teaser of a generic robot and the "2012" date. You can see it in FnJimmy's video here (warning, drunken rambling ahead):
There was a station set up to make your own transformer, unfortunately the customizations were somewhat limited because only the first three items in each section were unlocked. This meant that there were only 24 possible different combinations to choose, so everyone's looked pretty similar. FnJimmy and I printed ours out on expensive photo paper anyway.
We didn't see anything like this...
We were entertained by the band "Black Cherry" from the UK. They were awesome, I even spent some time talking to them between sets. FnJimmy was hit on by an attractive British girl because of his shirt. No action taken on his part. I don't actually remember this, so it's a good thing I tweeted it to remind me later. Here's another random tweet of the location, outside.
Another random picture we didn't see...
After we'd had enough (which is to say, the band was done playing and the food was done being served) we finished our last drinks and headed back to the hotel, ready to kick off E3 with a massive hangover. Good thing we got some real breakfast the next day and not an egg salad sandwich... JIMMY!
Team Gouki had a chance to play Gotham City Impostors at the Warner Bros. booth at E3 2011.
FnJimmy and I had finished playing some Arkham City and were lured into the depths of the Warner Brothers booth by this fantastic booth babe. FnJimmy has some NSFW photos from another angle I think. She's the official BatRastered booth babe of the year for staying in character and talking smack.Read full story...

Team Gouki invades the Capcom booth at E3 2011 for some hands on with Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. FnJimmy learns right from left.
We got the chance to play some Raccoon City on the show floor right next to the Capcom Unity booth. Look who decided to drop by while we were playing:
Is that a Blanka in your hand or...
FnJimmy was not phased in the least bit, he wanted some Resident Evil action and did not give a rat's ass who was in the booth with him (unless she had pink hair, and was teaching him about From Dust, amirite Jimmy?). Anyway, after waiting a bit FnJimmy finally got his chance to pick up the controller.
Watch FnJimmy play:
Things to note: The game tells you to shake off the zombies that grapple you by rotating the left stick... watch as FnJimmy uses the right stick over and over. Classic FnJimmy gameplay right there. Also watch as FnJimmy gets turned into a zombie at one point (!!!) and walks around killing as a zombie before respawning.
Here's his official wrap-up:
Despite what FnJimmy says, I assure you this is a third person game and your job is definitely not to save everyone.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City ships sometime this year... Really? No idea? The year's half over, come on Capcom. FFS.
FnJimmy goes hands on with the new Toy Soldiers game at the Microsoft booth E3 2011
Toy Soldiers: Cold War is an action strategy game that occasionaly has you jumping in to first person mode to aid your units. FnJimmy got some hands on time with the developers from Signal Studios. There are co-op and compettive multiplayer modes and, of course leaderboards to rail.
Here's FnJimmy's official take:
Toy Soldiers: Cold War will be released exclusively on XBOX Live Arcade August 17, 2011 for 1200 MSP.
Drake's 3 is one of the games I want to play most from E3 2011. That's kind of a no brainer, even with it's cheesey one liners & odd voice acting. Why is it Drake is the only that sounds like he is actually alive & not just waiting to read his next line
Afer the Sony Press Conference I got to play a little bit of the Multiplayer and it's pretty sweet. What I really want to do is sit back and enjoy the campiagn though. I just recently played through both Uncharted's again and even after that I couldn't get my controller setting right and I was looking like a nuab playing at the Sony Press Conference. WTF is an X and Y axis?! Just do Inverted On or Off.
UNCHARTED 3: Drake's Deception™ E3 Trailer
Yes this is a real game for the Wii. Watch the video over my shoulder. It's ridiculous and absurd. I will never play this game again in my life.
I really don't have more to say about this game. The video will for sure speak for itself. Flush it!

Gouki.com got a demonstration of the Furious 4 that is a radical departure from past Brothers in Arms games.
Gearbox software has been busy. Not only have they resurrected the Duke, but they've been working on an Aliens game and this new take on the Brothers in Arms universe. Randy Varnell of Gearbox assures us that we haven't seen the last of Matt Baker, the company will make a return to the traditional Brothers in Arms WWII shooter in "the future"... whenever that is, we'll let you know. In the meantime, enjoy this trailer of the Furious 4.
Furious 4 will be a four player co-operative shooter with skill upgrades (think Borderlands, in fact I'm pretty sure I saw the logo for Mordecai's Fast Hands skill in there). Unlike Borderlands, teammates don't just pop in and out of the world, instead there are individual missions at the end of which you and your cohorts will be given a summary of the destruction you've caused. Inquiries as to whether there will be a competitive multiplayer as well were met with "no comment".
The four characters have different skills, for instance Montana (the heavy gunner of the group) had a bear trap that would ensnare enemies temporarilly, allowing your teammates to pick them off. The trap could be upgraded to include a grenade, for even more fun and destruction.
To be sure, Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 was not what we were expecting and it's not a direct sequel to the previous games, it's more of an alternate universe take on the series. That said, Furious 4 is looking like fun so far. Stay tuned to Gouki.com for updates as we hear more about this game.
Here is the full press release:

Pro gamer FnJimmy goes hands-on with Skyward Sword in the Nintendo booth. Watch as he destroys the first demo and has time for another.
FnJimmy and I headed to the Nintendo booth to play some Zelda Skyward Sword. You can choose the bird riding level, a dungeon level, or a boss battle. They only give you a 10 minute demo to keep the lines moving and FnJimmy had played a little bit of the combat last year, so I encouraged him to take on the bird riding.
Most of the people in front of us had tried the bird riding too, none of them seemed able to beat it in the 10 minutes allowed. Noobs... give that Wii mote to FnJimmy and watch him do his best Fred Savage from that one movie from the 80's...
Uhhh... No, the other one...
Yeah, he may be a n00b at FPS games, but FnJimmy was born with a Nintendo controller in his hand. Okay... back to reality... Watch FnJimmy rail the birds so fast he still has time to do the dungeon level. "Good job, Jimmy!"
FnJimmy had a huge grin on his face after that and wouldn't let us leave the Nintendo booth until I had recorded his takes. So here is the offical FnJimmy hands-on impressions of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword releases this holiday season for the Nintendo Wii.
