Republic of Gamers (ROG) releases the ultimate 27-inch WQHD gaming monitor with exclusive gaming features, design touches, and NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ technology

ASUS today at CES announced a new monitor that's 27 inches of 2560x1440 and 120Hz goodness, plus it comes with the new NVIDIA G-Sync technology built in. This is now the ultimate PC gaming monitor, but it comes with a premium price too... $800

Looks good...

ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q Premium Gaming Monitor

This sounds great, but I would like to see a 24 inch version as 27 is just a tad too big for my desk, especially with multiple monitors. Of course, I'd like to see it come down in price too, but I'm sure that will happen with time.

The full release:

Las Vegas, USA (6th January, 2014) — ASUS today announced the ROG Swift PG278Q 27-inch gaming monitor. The Swift PG278Q features a WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, fast 120+ Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and a full range of ergonomic adjustments. It also features ASUS GamePlus and NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ technologies that are designed to deliver the ultimate gaming experience.

Experience Immersive Gaming and Outstanding Visuals

Say goodbye to motion blur and lag with 120+ Hz refresh rate and 1ms response times for a competitive advantage in all your games, thanks to smoother gameplay and on-screen responsiveness.  The ROG Swift PG278Q also features GamePlus, an exclusive ASUS feature.

GamePlus is an OSD overlay that enables crosshair and timer functions to be displayed on the monitor. Gamers can select from four different crosshair types to suit the gaming environment, while the timer function allows players to track elapsed time in real-time strategy games. These tools allow gamers to practice and improve their gaming skills.

The ROG Swift PG278Q provides an array of options that include DisplayPort 1.2 for native WQHD output, dual USB 3.0 ports, VESA wall mount capability and a versatile stand with full tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment for an ideal viewing position while playing the latest game titles.

The smart cable management feature rids your desktop of tangled wires, while the super narrow 6mm bezel ensures the ROG Swift PG278Q is an ideal choice for seamless multi-display gaming setups. Another nod to gamers and improving the user experience is a 5-way joystick that allows the user to easily navigate the OSD and make quick monitor adjustments.

The World’s First and Fastest WQHD Monitor powered by NVIDIA G-SYNC™

The ROG Swift PG278Q is also the world’s first WQHD monitor powered by NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ technology. NVIDIA® G-SYNC™, a breakthrough in display technology, synchronizes the display’s refresh rates to the GPU. The ROG Swift PG278Q eliminates screen tearing, minimizes stutter and input lag to deliver the smoothest gaming experience possible. With G-SYNC™ technology objects look sharper and more vibrant, while gameplay is more fluid and responsive.

Thanks for the Pax Swag

By: DragonKiss83 Sep 1, 2011 | 4 Comments

Arth beat me to it, so I had to try and fing a more creative way to share.

So once again I have been hooked up by Gouki.com, this time it was some great swag from Pax 2011.  Arth posted his story showing the package we got.  So I decided to do something special.

The first shot was fun, but it just didn't stand out.

So I figured Master Chief could use a trip to the beach.

And my son of course had to join the fun.  There was also a pic of him with the Omniblade, but it didn't come out good.

So once again I am a happy jimmy thanks to the crew here.  Thanks again guys.

I love the art design in this game already. The subtle hints of Final Fantasy mythology spread through out this preview are amazing. Check it out, now it 1080! ZOMG!!

We can only hope - the few of us Final Fantasy fans that are left - that this game will revitalize this franchise. Although, when I think about it's not in that bad of shape is it? I still say Final Fantasy Tactics, XII and VII are some of my favorite games of all time. Yes in that order. XIII completely let me down and XIV was an embarrassment nobody could endure. I can't sell my collector's edition for $40 bucks on eBay. sad face. C'mon Versus XIII - Don't Suck!

All gamers know that controllers break down and stop working after hours upon hours of usage, but what if I told you that there was a controller out there that could handle all of that AND it was one of a kind, made just for you? Well, there is....

Gamers across all platforms have come across an ongoing problem within our hobby: CONTROLLERS BREAKING. If you’re anything like me, you’ve gone through a few dozen controllers throughout your gaming career and are SICK OF IT. That’s a lot of money that could’ve been put towards new games and even my Xbox Live subscription! However, I’ve gotten my hands on my very own Xbox Design Lab controller that I think is the solution to our problems. I know most of you are thinking that The Lab is purely for cosmetic customization, which is what it’s supposed to be, BUT I’ve found out that they can be much more than that.

Borderlands 2 Pro-Tip: How to glitch and beat Pete the Invincible

By: Arthvader Jan 20, 2013 | 4 Comments | Updated: Jan 21, 2013

Goukijones, Batrasterd, and I take on Pete the Invincible using a glitch to our advantage.

On Wednesday, January 16, Goukijones, Batrasterd, and I went and took on the raid boss of Mr. Tourge's Campaign of Carnage, Pete the Invincible. During the course of this particular fight, though, we ended up getting Pete into a spot where he essentially got stuck, allowing us to defeat him without much issue.

30th Anniversary Capcom Character Encyclopedia

By: core Nov 16, 2013 | 0 Comments

The 30the Anniversary Capcom Character Encyclopedia is an interesting book with a few content issues, but it ultimately worth picking up.

30th Anniversary Capcom Character Encyclopedia is an interesting book. Artistically, it’s what you expect from Capcom. There is a history of beautiful designs and pieces of art from the company on every page. You get roughly two illustrations of each character. Sometimes these illustrations are a mix of classic and modern art, sometimes just classic. The page quality is great. They used high quality stock to print this book out. The cover is nicely designed, and the binding feels solid. Again, this is a nice book artistically. It’s lacking a bit on content though.

Every character in the book gets a couple paragraphs explaining who they are and there is a data section on each page. These little data sections list things like first appearance, last appearance, height, weight, other names, occupation, arch enemy and a few other small things. It would have been great for them to go more in-depth on each character’s information. A list of games the character has been in, which consoles the games were on, who the characters creator is or even moves lists for the fighting game characters would have been interesting. It feels like what we were given was put together in a short amount of time.

The character choices that were made for this book are interesting as well. All in all there are 207 characters from Capcom’s history. The choices are interesting because there are characters you would think they would absolutely include at the very least because they’re in games that came out recently and there are characters that haven’t been in a game for a couple decades. Characters like Dudley, C.Viper, many Mega Man robots, and many others from Street Fighter, Rival Schools, Power Stone, etc. are left out. Then there are characters most people have never heard of included. There’s Agrippa from Shadow of Rome, Baby Head from Captain Commando, Lonely Astronaut from Section Z and a few others. There are also characters that are grouped instead of given their own page. The whole cast of Battle Circuit and King of Dragons each share a single page. I can appreciate the choice to include so much history, but the amount of characters they left out makes this feel like volume 1. The book isn’t called volume 1 though.

With that said, at $16.99 this book is a great value. It’s rare that you find a book like this and of this quality for less than $25. While I would have loved to have seen a book two or three times larger that costs $50, this makes for a great book to have sitting on a coffee table. It’s fun to flip through it and read about the characters I’ve spent so much of my life playing as.

Give it a buy. You can’t beat the value. If you a Capcom fan, you shouldn’t give it a second thought.

Final Fantasy XIV patch 3.5 Hype Trailer

By: BatRastered Jan 6, 2017 | 2 Comments

The Far Edge of Fate coming January 17

That Zurvan fight looks rough, chopping away slices of the arena like a pizza... And the new 24 man having a boss knock people off an airship? Jimmys gonna be falling off all over Eorzea come January 17.

I hope they give us the orchestrion roll for that rockin' Sohm Al (Hard) remix... I may have an orchestrion addiction problem 100+ rolls.

What do you think about the golden gathering/crafting weapons? Just glamor like the "luminary" ones from 2.x? That's my guess.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Theme Song Trailer January 2020

By: goukijones Jan 31 (28 days ago) | 0 Comments

Things keep looking better and better.

Here's the game not being so streamlined. I'm really hoping for a wide open gameplay, but the original had you on the straight and narrow while in Midgar. This game could be different though. I wasn't expecting to see Red XIII just yet, but I do figure this "First Disc" of the game will hopefully end with Aerith getting stabbed through the heart. Cloud is gonna be so pissed!

Conduit 2 Golden Video Review with FnJimmy

By: fnjimmy May 28, 2011 | 8 Comments

Apparently Sega wanted me to review this game so they sent me a free copy. I'm world famous and Sega loves me. Jealous? Hopefully they get what they've paid for me. Watch my review.

When I started this game I couldn't figure out how to open the doors. Therefore the game must be glitched. I talk about it in a couple of times. I had to restart the level and then I found the actual path I was supposed to go down. Now not knowing for sure, if the game was glitch or just my brain. Leave your comments below.  BTW, I don't care.
