Exclusive audio of Hitman Absolution at the E3 2011 Behind Closed Doors Demo. Including actual demo screen shots. Also my take on the gameplay and exclusive pictures from inside the private room. Nothing you haven't seen before.
The demo starts out with Agent 47 hiding in a corner of a "derelict Library." The room was crawling with about 10-15 cops. Get ready for this comparison a lot, it looked like Batman Arkham Asylum. Agent 47 sneaks around for a bit, the cover system locked onto the walls real well and hugged corners as he snuck away from cops. He also has "Detective Vision" where he can see kind of an outline where the cops are about to patrol. A line of fire draws along the ground where the cop is about to patrol.
You can listen to the actual demo I saw, in the video below. The video includes some screen shots of what I actually saw. Then as you read on, I'll describe my thoughts on the gameplay and you can check out my actual notes from the E3 2011 Hitman Absolution demonstration.

Agent 47 sneaks around killing the cops of one by one -all of their backs are conveniently turned- and nobody in the room is the wiser. Nothing you haven't seen before. In this room the developers manage to show you a lot of the moves and stuff that's in the game. Certainly a demonstration level. I'm a real gamer though, I know what's up. A lot of BS. The sequence ends with Agent 47 taking a rookie cop hostage and I might have blanked out a little at this part, that or my flask was blocking the screen while a took another drink. He grabs the rookie and then he's surrounded by all of the cops in the room. I thought the Detective in charge shot the rookie, just to get to Agent 47. I don't know, that would be crazy right? Do you know any cops that would just shoot another cop that easily when there are 40 cops in the room and 1 bad guy. Sorry, back to the demo.
A chase ensues up there stairs and there's a little shoot out. God mode heard. Agent 47 takes no damage and escapes. He conveniently walks into another room where a helicopter is waiting outside ready to shoot the place up. Nothing you haven't seen before. This was to demonstrates the destructible environments of the game, the loud sounds and Agent 47 sneaking around some more. When he makes it to the end of the hallway/building there's a cop there. No trouble here though, the cop is facing the opposite way and doesn't see Agent 47(or give a shit about the huge helicopter attack that just went down.) Agent 47 sneaks up on cop and chokes the shit out of him. Then he puts on the cops uniform as a disguise. He then walks right out onto the ledge where the chopper is like no problem. A little ridiculous if you ask me.
No cause for alarm from the helicopter, he must not have known there was a fellow officer on that top floor. Agent 47 causally walks across the roof top as the helicopter hovers over head. He sneaks into this stoners apartment where they are growing massive amounts of weed. One of the pot heads is so stoned he Agent 47 is just hilarious, just like this demo. Then some real cops bust into the room and Agent 47 takes them out with some hand to hand combat. Nothing you haven't seen before.
He walks out into the hallway and takes the elevator downstairs right into a mini police command center set up in this hotel lobby. The room was full of cops. The game slows down as you walk pass people and they seem to notice something about you. But nothing happened in this demo, just slow down. There's all these guns and grenades on the table and it looks like he can pick them up. I'm thinking okay big shoot out coming here. Nope. He picks up a donut instead just as another cop calls him out. Agent 47 has his back is to the cop and the cop thinks Agent 47 is somebody else and is just talking to him. Agent 47 never turns around and the cop eventually gets distracted and leaves. This entire time the screen said "Push X to put the donut down." I can only imagine that if he did put the donut down and turned around the cop would have realized Agent 47 was not who he thought he was and a big shoot out would have occurred. But nothing I saw in this entire demo led me to really believe something that cool would happen.
The demo ended and according to my actual notes while watching the play through below, I found it interesting. Although I believe this entire Demo was just set up for press, the game looked like it has potential. Hitman Absolution came off to me as a Batman Arkham Asylum clone. Nothing you haven't seen before.

FnJimmy and BatRastered head to Hollywood to see what's up with the new Transformers MMO currently in development.
Team Gouki was invited to a party for the new Transformers MMO - Transformers Universe, to be launched some time in 2012. The party was at the same time as the Sony press conference, so GoukiJones couldn't attend. FnJimmy and I watched a stream of the Sony conference and showed up fashionably late to the party. We were told there was free booze.

Given that E3 takes place at the LACC right in the heart of downtown L.A., attending a party in Hollywood meant a $30 cab ride (each way). This meant we had to have a bunch of free booze and hors d'oeuvres to make up for the trip. FnJimmy of course wouldn't eat anything because it had ingredients, so I made sure he got his fill of cleverly named drinks (there was an Autobotini and I can't really remember any other names as I had a dozen gin and tonics). I, on the other hand dined on lamb meatballs, mushroom flatbread pizza, and feta cheese stuffed pastry.
Oh yeah, the game... Well we didn't see anything of the game except for a teaser of a generic robot and the "2012" date. You can see it in FnJimmy's video here (warning, drunken rambling ahead):
There was a station set up to make your own transformer, unfortunately the customizations were somewhat limited because only the first three items in each section were unlocked. This meant that there were only 24 possible different combinations to choose, so everyone's looked pretty similar. FnJimmy and I printed ours out on expensive photo paper anyway.
We didn't see anything like this...
We were entertained by the band "Black Cherry" from the UK. They were awesome, I even spent some time talking to them between sets. FnJimmy was hit on by an attractive British girl because of his shirt. No action taken on his part. I don't actually remember this, so it's a good thing I tweeted it to remind me later. After we'd had enough (which is to say, the band was done playing and the food was done being served) we finished our last drinks and headed back to the hotel, ready to kick off E3 with a massive hangover. Good thing we got some real breakfast the next day and not an egg salad sandwich... JIMMY!
Yes this is a real game for the Wii. Watch the video over my shoulder. It's ridiculous and absurd. I will never play this game again in my life.
I really don't have more to say about this game. The video will for sure speak for itself. Flush it!
E3 2011 Centipede Infestation FnJimmy's official take

Team Gouki visited with Reverge Labs/Autumn Games at E3 2011 to see Skullgirls. An independent 2D fighter with great ambition. Now picked up by Konami - A new challenger has entered! Check out our exlcusive coverage.
Skullgirls was on my schedule as the last thing on the final day of E3. I knew I had one of the best things saved for last and I couldn't wait to actually see this game in person. But a whole 28 hour period before I stopped by this little corner in the Konami booth, FnJimmy and BatRastered played Skullgirls. Here's FnJimmy's official take, moments after playing Skullgirls for the very first time ever.

Then I finally rolled up the following day a little early for my last appointment. Also spending all that time before hand in the Square booth, depleted my flask and totally had me in the mood for a fighting game. I was greeted by Alex and he was cool. He knew about the game enough and was constantly taking notes. I was then introduced to Ian Cox a designer at Reverge Labs. He interrupted two Jimmys that were playing on 1 of the 2 Skullgirls set ups in the Konami booth, kicked them off. Then Ian and I stepped up to play. You notice badass nice custom fight sticks, completely decked out with the Skullgirls. They were from Arcade in a box. Check out this picture I snapped while they we're packing up.
So we began to play. We did 3V3. First cool thing about Skullgirls is you can do 3V3 2V2 1V1 OR 1V2 1V3 2V3 and the scales adjust your health and damage, depending on how many are on your team. The game looks amazing, I'm not going to even talk about that. Check out this Off Screen footage I captured while FnJimmy and BatRastered played again.
E3 2011 Skullgirls Off Screen
Skullgirls has a classic Street Fighter 6 button control setup and fighting style. Add in the MvC style swapping plus super chains and you got some craziness on your hands. Only 3 characters were playable at the show. I played with Cerebella most of the time, she's a grappler, like Zangief. Like how FnJimmy likes his women. Another cool innovation in Skullgirls is the non jumping 360. Ian explained, if you hit bottom 5 points of the fight stick while circling for a 360 motion, the character will lock to the ground and not jump. I thought that was very smart. There's tech throws and something like a alpha counter/snap back, but more on that later. Skullgirls has a ton of depth to it.
Ian would show me chain combos and it reminded me a lot of Street Fighter 3 style button chains. Nothing crazy and out of control fast like MvC3. The pace of the game looked well balanced, but I didn't really get to see any of the mixed size team matches. That's also an interesting idea.
All in all this is something to get hype for. It's coming to XBLA and PSN, so it's not going to be more than $20 hopefully around $15. At $15 I strongly encourage fighting game fans to give this game a try. This is gonna be in competition at EVO 2012. Don't be a Jimmy!

E3 was cool but much didn't blow me away. What really got me wide-eyed was more info on one of my favorite franchises , the SSX series.
SSX is the Tony Hawk of Snowboarding games and has always been incredibly fun. Initially I was hyped when the new SSX: Deadly Decents was announced but a bit worried. The short trailer didn't have the same ridiculous over-the-top fun flare SSX fans are used to. Instead it had a more serious look. Luckily with the information slowly coming out of the blogs and what was shown at E3 has put a big smile on my face.
Deadly decents does look a bit more armored but the movements and gameplay still has a awesome SSX feel. What they added to the game which is a big step ahead is that they have been using maping data from NASA. "Mountain Man" takes actual lattitude and longitude data to mimic real-life mountains. Also they made a great choice by picking obscure mountains. Instead of picking the big famous ones people always go to (Like Aspen and Taho) they went big and got places in Siberia, Alaska , Himelayas and much more.
The 3 major game modes are Racing, Trick-it and Surviving. Self explanatory especially if you have played the older games. Racing is whoever gets down the mountain fastest, Trick-it is the gory of SSX, doing ridiculous flips and combos for points and surviving is surviving the mountain, avalanches and catastrophes galore.
What was interesting was they changed the control scheme a bit while keeping the old one. The old control sceme with button combinations is still intact, but they also have similiar controls from games like Skate, where you flick the thumb-stick for combos. That sounds super badass , I may be using a combo of both.
The guy also spoke about what "Deadly Decents" really is. Kind of like a boss battle? Not only do you survive through riding the mountin but theres other stuff besides riding a snowboard. Apparently there will be some survivor-man climbing and hiking type stuff. Not too clear on it really >_<
Watching the gameplay really was the best though, seeing the game and being able to tell it is going to have some of the same flare should keep every fan happy.

Team Gouki got a chance to play the new and improved GoW3 horde mode at Microsoft's E3 2011 booth. -Updated- FnJimmy's official take on horde mode video
E3 day 3, FnJimmy and I bolted at the opening striaght to the Gears of War demo. As we were standing in line, the Microsoft guys were passing around these giant cards of what to expect in the new Horde mode.

If you can't read that (good luck) here's what we saw and played...
You start off by selecting an area to defend, we started in the hotel lobby. There are a bunch of glowing spots where you can set up fortifications such as barbed wire, turrets, and decoys. These slow down or even take out Locust as they try to make their way into the lobby, making them easy pickings for you. These fortifications aren't free, however. You need cash to set them up. You start off with a limited amount of cash, but you rack it up by killing enemies and completing any bonus objectives that pop up (these will require you to leave the relative safety of the fortified area usually, so watch out). In between rounds, you can purchase new fortifications, repair old ones, and get new weapons. Every 10th round is a boss wave... we had to fight this thing.
Unfortunately, you can't just lay down fortifications where you want, Gears has spots chosen for you. It's ok, but I expected a little better from the game that started this horde mode craze. Still, it's a lot of fun to build up your defenses and rail a bunch of Locust, especially when the big baddies come along.
We still haven't got a chance to see the campaign yet, but we did see the new limited edition Xbox 360 (with custom sounds!). Check this bad boy out...
Yeah... that's pretty sweet. I think it looks better than the Halo Reach edition. (We here at Gouki.com are especially fond of the red & black color scheme.)

Pro gamer FnJimmy goes hands-on with Skyward Sword in the Nintendo booth. Watch as he destroys the first demo and has time for another.
FnJimmy and I headed to the Nintendo booth to play some Zelda Skyward Sword. You can choose the bird riding level, a dungeon level, or a boss battle. They only give you a 10 minute demo to keep the lines moving and FnJimmy had played a little bit of the combat last year, so I encouraged him to take on the bird riding.
Most of the people in front of us had tried the bird riding too, none of them seemed able to beat it in the 10 minutes allowed. Noobs... give that Wii mote to FnJimmy and watch him do his best Fred Savage from that one movie from the 80's...
Uhhh... No, the other one...
Yeah, he may be a n00b at FPS games, but FnJimmy was born with a Nintendo controller in his hand. Okay... back to reality... Watch FnJimmy rail the birds so fast he still has time to do the dungeon level. "Good job, Jimmy!"
FnJimmy had a huge grin on his face after that and wouldn't let us leave the Nintendo booth until I had recorded his takes. So here is the offical FnJimmy hands-on impressions of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.

Exclusive Gameplay footage and interview. Gouki.com wanted to tell THQ everything about what we do with SmackDown VS Raw 2011. We've got a helluva story to tell from inside the THQ booth at E3 2011 with Dev Talk about WWE '12.
Anybody that has checked out Gouki.com certainly knows we are big fans of SmackDown VS Raw and just huge wrestling fans over all. We've successfully recreated each WWE Pay-Per-View since Survivor Series 2010 with WWE SmackDown VS Raw 2011. We have simulated over 60 matches, something we refer to as the Madden Bowl of wrestling. We film the matches before the PPV and both wrestlers are AI controlled. We have downloaded, created and edited over 100 Superstars and Divas in the game.
We know what want in WWE '12 to make that aspect of the game for us even more enjoyable. Personally I say, watching the simulated matches are sometimes just as good as watching the actual live match.
Here's what happened. I had just finished my Konami "Booth Tour" with some Canadian chick with a bunch of FAQ sheets. More on that in another story. I believe BatRastered and FnJimmy we finishing up watching Aliens. I stormed the THQ booth looking to meet people I knew actually did shit there. Neal Pabon, I talked to that guy, what up to him. The press/media counter don't give a shit about nobody without an appointment. There were no goodies and the lady gave me a business card with an FTP for their media kit, when I had just saw her hand some Jimmy the full on disc version press kit.
I stumbled back over to the WWE '12 wall to see if BatRastered and FnJimmy had arrived yet. I took a drink out the flask while less people were looking and just started to play WWE '12. The first guy that came up to me didn't seem to know much of the game. When I told him what we did with it, he didn't seem to understand or maybe he didn't care. I fucked off and tried to talk to more Jimmys in suits. I couldn't find the nuab who I suspect does the Twitter account. He's given me a few shout outs and I just wanted to say thanks. No success.
Back to the WWE '12 section where I scouted out the other possible dev working the section. At E3 you really have to dig deep and ask questions, most of the time you could just be playing with a random PR guy hired that week to demo a product for you based on a script. I definitely did not want that to happen with WWE'12, I wanted to talk to somebody seriously and share my experiences with the game and offer 1 or 2 of my 100 plus suggestions. That's when I met Jason Vandiver, his business card is official and it says Designer on it.
Jason knew what was up with the game and understood what we did with it. [Spoiler Alert] I may say things that I wasn't supposed to talk about. I hope Jason doesn't get in trouble. [/Spoiler Alert]
Jason told me that there would be 2 new create a "Something." I know, not much to go on. SDvR2011 already has a lot of create a "something." FnJimmy says it could be the create a belt. I disagree, I believe one will be something like create a show. My thought is I would love to just program 6-7 matches in a row and then just watch them as the AI played it out. You can kinda set that up now, but an easier way is needed. Create a backstage promo or something, I don't know man, the game does a lot already.
Then we played a match, I chose Albero Del Rio and he drove out on stage in a fancy car. Just like the Eddie Guerrero intro FnJimmy has attached to him in our simulations. It all looked great. Jason chose Randy Orton. I don't know how to play the game and I don't know if he thought I was full of shit at this point, but I had no clue what to do with the actual controller. I just watch this game. So he beat the shit out of me and showed me one of the coolest new features.
Super wake ups. A super wake up for example is when your oppenet is on the ground, but needs to be standing for you to do your finisher. Jason leans forward and shouts "Watch this!" The game cuts away into a taunt animation and Randy Orton slams to the ground and throws his little temper tantrum. AlBerto Del Rio who is still knocked out cold in the center of the ring, shoots to his feet and Randy Orton stands up and RKO's him. Awesome. Very smooth, going to make the end of matches way more exciting.
Jason wasn't done, he picks Alberto Del Rio up again and starts beating on him and building his super bar again. This time he showed me Randy Orton's punt. I said "Something that I'd like to see is that when you select end a match with a finisher that the AI still pins, like in WWE All Stars." Jason said not to worry that was added.
BatRastered and FnJimmy finally had arrived. I pulled FnJimmy to the side and had him play the game while I filmed this off screen footage. Now THQ probably don't want me to play this, but I don't have any other gameplay footage. Both press kits I checked only had the live action Randy Orton trailer. You can see Vintage SDvR2011 AI in this clip where Randy Orton sets up Alberto Del Rio for an announcer table smash, but the Randy Orton can't grab on to do the move and, you know what, I'm not even sure which one FnJimmy was controlling. Just watch the clip.
You can hear the guy at the end of the video offer me some HD footage on a disc, it wasn't there sorry brotha. Send me some and I want another interview. Thanks.

We wrapped it up and got four amazing contacts. We love this game franchise, SDvR series is a game that makes sense to come out every year.

The Gouki team paid a visit to Sega's booth at E3 2011 for a first look at Aliens: Colonial Marines in action.
Hot on the heels of the first official trailer for this game, Sega let us in to see an early build of Aliens: Colonial Marines being played by the Gearbox staff and hosted by non other than Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox Software.
When asked when the game takes place in the Alien universe, Pitchford stated that he considers this the "true sequel to Aliens", which brought cheers from those assembled for this demo. We soon found ourselves in Hadley's Hope searching for survivors and clues as to what happened during the events of the Aliens movie. The level of detail even in this early build was quite impressive. Fans will clearly recognize the blueprints of the building and the labs housing the face-suckers. Things quickly turn dark for our band of marines as the sounds coming from the motion tracker become more urgent. Alien xenomorphs soon begin emerging from the ceiling air vents, taking many of your squadmates out in the process. The aliens move all along the ceiling and walls as easily as the floors, and they move quickly. You will really need to have your head on a swivel if you wish to keep it attached in this game! Better yet, bring some backup; Aliens: Colonial Marines supports 4 player co-op. As Pitchford announced this feature, a second Gearbox employee joined the demo. Much like Gearbox's recent hit, Borderlands, the additional player simply popped into existence and a message appeared on the screen stating that "player 2 had joined your party". Nothing was mentioned of this, but I noticed that the second player had some custom looking artwork on their armour hinting perhaps and some level of player customization.
Most of the action was standard FPS stuff, move from point A to point B and have a firefight, but along the way the engine showed off some survival horror effects (exploding lights, face-suckers throwing themselves at the inside of their glass cage towards you with the accompanying music queue) and other events like random marines being gruesomely dealt with by the aliens. We weren't shown any items other than the motion scanner, but we did get to see a few weapons including the pulse rifle and sentry turret.
Seal the door!
After the marines had decided to take a last stand, a giant firefight broke out, culminating in the alien queen bashing through the door and ending the demo with an ominous fade to black.
For those worried that an Aliens game can't live up to the hype, let me tell you that Pitchford and his Gearbox staff were visibly excited to be making this game, and very much knew their stuff about the Aliens universe. Pitchford was shouting out movie quotes throughout the demo, and mentioned that they had the chance to work with many people and assets from the film.
In addition a version of the game will make its way to the WiiU after its launch. While we don't know specifics on the WiiU version, it is easy to imagine a motion tracker on the controller screen. Pitchford would only say that Gearbox was proud to be one of the early recipients of the developer kit for the WiiU.

Exclusive Pictures from behind closed doors. Gouki.com got the world famous treatment from 2K Games at E3 2011 and one of the games I saw demod live right in my face was XCOM. Completely different from last year. This is my new Brink!
I certainly had the privilege to see XCOM in the 2K booth this year at E3. Last year XCOM was a FPS action game, that looked like it didn't have much to offer. This year, what I saw was a completely different game. My session was hosted by a developer or producer of the game, I can't remember his name, I nubbed it up and didn't write it down or get a card from him. He reminded of Kramer, from Seinfeld. He was great. I understand that knowing his name would have helped out a lot more with this next quote.
"The game is now a lot more like Final Fantasy Tactics" He explained in reference to the party system.
I spoke to -again I can't find his name, I apologize- He told me the game may even let you send out your party to do side missions and they will level up and bring back stuff like in Final Fantasy Tactics. My mind was blown.
During the actual playable demo, that a developer was playing behind him on the Xbox 360. They showed a lot combat and explained how the looting of the aliens worked. XCOM is squad based now and very strategic, this aspect shown, reminded me of Mass Effect. You could hack alien tech and use it against them. Some alien tech completely blew buildings apart while playing. If you don't use alien tech right away in combat, you can take it back to the lab for more long term benefits. These were all very cool ideas that I was hearing. The game now has a release date of March 6th 2012, so this is the new official GoukiJones hype game. Don't worry XCOM will not be another Brink.

Batman Arkham City is going to be amazing. Catwoman gameplay is it own unique style. I can't wait to play the full on version.
I can't say much. What can I say? This is my take right after I played Batman Arkham City at E3 2011 last Wednesday.
