Super Street Fighter IV has competition again Mortal Kombat is back. People will be playing this in tournaments.
First stop of day 2 E3 2010 was the Mortal Kombat demonstration in the Warner Bros. booth. We had to wait for the first rack of nuabs to finish, because we were a little late.
As we enter the private room I noticed t-shirts draped over the chairs. Bonus!! A bad ass exclusive Mortal Kombat t-shirt, with an exposed rib cage and it says Finish Him on the back. Anyway, then I realized that the Jimmy in the front of the room was, Ed frickin Boon man! The demonstration was hosted by Ed Boon, the series creator. On the a giant projector screen Sub-Zero and Scorpion were highlighted on the character select. Right away this felt like Mortal Kombat II to me.
My boy, Ed talks about how Mortal Kombat is going back to its roots and that’s why the game name is just Mortal Kombat. Sub-Zero and Scorpion begin to fight and it looks incredible. The level was the Living Forest from Mortal Kombat II, you could see snakes and bugs crawling through the dead bodies in the back ground. Wait this super detailed and bad ass fight against two of the worlds most well know ninja lookin’ dudes. Scorpion has his chain spike … “Get over here!” Sub-Zero has his classic ice ball. Scorpion can teleport and when he does he leaves behind a cloud of smoke that looks almost just like him. Sub-Zero shoots ice at the ground, but Scorpion doesn’t slip. His foot is stuck in the ice, Sub-Zero walks up and uppercuts him in the GARILL! The fight continues and Scorpion wins … Finish Him. The testers could not pull off the fatality. NUBFARM!
Then we switched it up to the new tag team system. You get two guys and I get two guys. You can call in for assists or you can swap out at any time. The combat is totally in-depth, tons of combos and juggles. Juggle in and out with your partner. There’s a super bar kind of, it can be used for EX type moves that are larger and do more damage. Combo breaker in case you are getting your ass kicked. Oh and the max super … does like a mini fatality during the match that cuts away to bones breaking punches, sword cutting action and well just blood spilling everywhere. BatRastered says like CSI when they do the special effects, but who watches CSI? Remember that Jet Li movie with the slow motion bone breaking like wire frame or whatever … never mind. This new Mortal Kombat is amazing.
A couple of other details are that there were 26 character slots, a random slot, and a DLC slot. They didn’t take any questions, I’m sorry I don’t know if there will be DLC characters. That DLC slot made me think there might be. The title screen was Sub-Zero punching the shit out of Scorpion or vice versa, I don’t know I don’t remember, I had a few sips of whiskey already at this point and I’m having one actually right now while I’m writing this. Wait …. Watch this video.
Mafia II, a sandbox set in the 1940's.
You've played this game before. It's a thrid person sandbox with good voice acting and story and just good enough controls. The only difference is this one is set in the 1940's gangster run town of "Empire Bay". You can get your sandbox on in any one of many different flavors now, Old West, 40's gangster, 50's FBI vs Aliens, 80's Miami, 90's California, modern day New York, the futuristic "Pacific City" of Crackdown, whatever.
It's the same shit. Pick your favorite style and get that one.
An under appreciated game from back in the day is making its come back!
What up Jimmys!? Let's get right to it.
What is Deus Ex? It's a cyber-punk style, role playing hybrid, first person shooter set in the future. This is the third game in the in the series but it is a prequel to the original Deus Ex.
The build that I was shown was six hours into the game. The developer also stated that this build had unlimited ammo and infinite health. Cheater.. It shows a living, breathing world, and just whipping out a weapon, not to shoot, will alarm the civilians around you. The main character wasn’t looking too presentable. He had a trench coat. Color light brown. The developer starts walking and heads to a bar. The streets are lively and serve a purpose. People were walking some were saying important dialog to assist you on your story. Once inside the bar, he initiated a conversation with the bar tender. His face seemed half burned but the detail was real nice. There was a moral choice that made him want details extracted from him. One was aggressive and the other passive but with no answer. He choose to be passive and leave with nothing. He explored the bar more to overhear a conversation of two NPCs. They mentioned about the guy that he was looking for had lost his PDA. He searched around to find it on the bathroom floor. He hacked it and got a code to enter in the back door. Once inside, he proceeded to sneak inside. On cover, the camera goes into third person a la Gears/RainbowSix style. One guard was there so he waited till his back was turned and knocked him out. Upon knocking him out, the action goes to third person view for the stun/kill. Then he dragged the body in first person view, to the corner. Then around another corridor, two guards were dumb enough to stand with their back side to him, so they were put to sleep. The demo ended shortly after saying this part was only the stealth part. The next section would be more action oriented.
The next section started out with the main character getting out of the sewer. This time, he was in full body armor. He looks around with happens to look like a bay in New York, around Manhattan. There were a bay of bad guys securing the place and he quickly took cover and started to make his way to the far right. The developer started to say that you can beat the whole game without killing anyone but this was not the case here. His body suit was powered up so he picked up a crate and pulled it out if its fence placement to reveal a hole. He went in. Now there was a small room in front of him. He then activated his x-ray vision to see a good radius of the bad guys. He snuck inside via the window and killed the dude dumb enough to be sleeping on the job. He deactivated the alarm system and proceeded to head out to the opposed side. He takes cover behind some crates and spots a dude. The bad guy is on top of the crate. He takes out his silencer and head shots the back of his head. He then super jumps on top to spot two more Jimmies talking about getting paid and what not. Again, he jumps down to execute both of them. He makes his way to the back of the bay and avoids a good amount of guards. He then climbs a later and heads to the right to view a glass top with two guards exchanging Pokemon cards. Kidding, they’re just talking. He jumps down to break the glass and kills them. That room was filled with bad guys and he took them out. Cheater… Then a big boss (?) mechanical creature broke through the wall like the Kool-aid man. He ran behind some wooden boxes and the thing’s heavy machine guns destroyed them all. He saw a conveniently placed rocket launcher around a suit case. The weapons were customizable because, not only did he say so but, the rocket launcher had a heat seeker feature that made the fight rather quick. It then goes into a cinematic cutscene of him jumping out of a wall. He lands alright and then being confronted with an even taller guy than himself. He force pushed the crap out of him and changed his hand into a Gatling gun and was about to shoot when the scene goes black. Wooooo!!!
I honestly had mixed feelings about the game. It seems to borrow elements from other genres, even though the game series is longer than the others. But Square Enix’s hand is definitely in this. The cutscenes are AMAZING! Insane detail to it. I could even count the hair on the dude’s chin! Something to look forward to!
In a secret kitchen hidden inside the Los Angeles convention center we watch a demo of XCOM with studio director Martin Slater.
Xcom is a classic computer game, that what I think most of the Jimmys that made the original Bioshock are trying to remake. So for me, this is a no-brainer. I loved the first Bioshock, I think it is one of the best games of all time. So we sit down right in the front of the room and take a swig from my soda bottle, Jimmy! Wink wink. Martin Slater was standing up front, BatRastered and I quickly introduced ourselves and exchanged business cards. Martin was totally laid back and knew a lot about the preview we were watching, he guided us through.
I have seen this video before, or clips of it or something. It’s not bad. The graphics seem very rough and you can tell it’s an early build. The setting is like Bioshock on land, during the day. The game is very ominous with various things scurrying about trying to give you a scare. Black blobs of static electricity to be honest. The action scene takes place inside a house where the black static blobs are attacking a family and you need to go in and kill everything. When it’s time to leave a giant alien rectangular cube appears and turns into a donut looking object.*see video* At this point the donut looking object begins blasting away and sucking up debris all around you. The demo ends with you escaping.
I want to play this game, there is no doubt. I think it’s going to be very deep. The world map was shown for a few moments during the demo and you could clearly see that your options for different things to do at this point across the United States.Read full story...
Sneak peek at the PSN exclusive zombie shooter.
If you played Smash TV (or Zombie Apocalypse on XBLA) you know what to expect.
Wolves and bigger wolves get whipped and stabbed...
I had a chance to play Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for a short while at Konami's E3 booth. The game brings Castlevania into the current generation with a play style similar to the God of War series. The whip action controls well and throwing daggers is quick and easy. The only enemies I got to fight were werewolves and larger werewolves that were in turn ridden by the smaller ones. Weird. You can pull off some neat combos with the different whip attacks and you can unlock new moves as you progress through the game. The cutscenes are skippable but they do feature the voice of Patrick Stewart. Whatever, this being a Kojima game, I can see some of these scenes being on the long side, so as long as I can skip, I'm happy.
Take a look at me playing Castlevania at E3.
I get like 47 seconds with Josh Sawyer, before we're told to stop filming. Don't worry I'll tell you more about our conversation.
Fallout New Vegas looks just like Fallout 3, so graphics aren't the issue here. Controls felt the same to me; it was very easy to jump back into it. Josh Sawyer is the game’s Project Director and he was there to answer all of my questions and walk me through a quick experience in Fallout New Vegas. As I grab the controller I start to punch and fight the first guy I see. I didn’t know that I was in a casino at this point and I had no weapons. I was raiped by security and was quickly dead. Josh sighed and told me to hit load, we have to start all over again. So here we go from the beginning of the press demo.
The game loads up just in-side Las Vegas on the strip. Doesn’t look anything like the Vegas I know, but I understand that 200 years in the future it should look completely different. They’re always blowing shit up in Las Vegas. I can’t remember clearly what happened next, I began to walk around the city and I saw someone I wanted to punch again. Before Josh could stop me I had already decked the Ceaser’s Legion security guard and then I died again. Ok, push start and load the last game. Josh at this point wanted to strangle me for sure.
Now we head right over to the casino, so he could show me the gambling. Table games and slot machines and if you win too much, the casino will boot you out. Cool. Now I want to go shoot some Jimmys.
So we load up a mission. Typical Fallout 3 mission style. Go talk to this Jimmy, go to this spot, go find this Jimmy, go shoot these Jimmys, pick up the thing, return the thing, talk to the Jimmy that originally gave you the mission and mission complete. Watch the video. It’s Fallout New Vegas from E3 2010 with Josh Sawyer.
This is the first time I have ever played Marvel vs Capcom 3. 67 hit combo! BERNER!!
First stop at E3 2010 was Marvel vs Capcom 3. Check out my immediate reaction and watch my first match ever of Marvel Vs Capcom 3. Exclusive video.
Let’s start coming up!
With the Electronic Entertainment Expo, E3, right around the corner, let’s start speculating about what we’re going to hear about our favorite developers from the press conference.
Sony Now, if Sony lets Kevin Butler and Jack Tretton talk on stage, it would be insane! I enjoy Sony for being the middle man in this. They want motion control with Move, and support the gaming community, but they always slip at the last minute. If you can recall from last year, they were going to announce the PSP Go with Gran Turismo, and Little Big Planet PSP but was leaked via their Core episode four days prior their showing! That wasn’t the best move on my behalf, and the screen shots that they are releasing for KillZone 3 are, in my opinion, dumb. Why not wait for E3 and reveal your games and show of to the other companies?! Maybe I don’t see the business side to it. What I hope to see at this year’s E3 is The Last Guaridan, Gran Turismo 5, Infamous 2 or Sly Cooper 4, Final Fantasy XIV, Metal Gear Solid; Raiden/Peace Walker, SOCOM 4, Little Big Planet 2, Kingdom Hearts 3/Birth by Sleep, and God of War; Ghost of Sparta. If they demonstrate like they did two years ago with Little Big Planet, and bring the same style with Little Big Planet 2, they’ll win for creativity. I’m also expecting some strong partnerships with their only rental service like cable, or maybe the PSP2!
Microsoft One of the heavy hitters at the last few E3s. With everyone jumping on the motion controls band wagon, Project Natal will be no exception. Natal will have half of the conference, right after they tell you how much their online blows everyone out of the water. Natal will be interesting. Maybe they’ll release a PSP/DS style handled. You can dream right? Come on, don’t you want to play Gears 3 standing? Waving your hands in the air? Which leads me to the games! Let’s see if they show some trailer/gameplay to Gears of War 3, Fable 3, Halo Reach, Natal and…. Wait, what else do they have?!? Naw, but I’m sure they’re going to gave a mention to the Zune, all three of you, and more Natal features. Zzzz…
P.S. Watch this video to see Kevin Butler, KB, make fun of Project Natal.
Nintendo Last but not least, Nintendo. Let’s hear that they have games this year too. Last year was a fantastic year, compared to the previous years, so this year, they better whip it out. With the new hardware already out of the bag, the DS3D will be the talk of the show. I would honestly like to see some software for Nintendo than anything else. Golden Sun DS, Kirby(for any Wii or DSi/3D), Zelda, Metriod: Other M, Pikmn 3, F-Zero, Kid Icarus, Pokemon Black & White, Sonic Colors, Star Fox, Epic Mickey and any crazy secret game they always do. I just hope that it won’t be a sleeper from two years ago.
Third Parties These developers whore themselves out and they make money on the games we will, and, buy. Not going to the specifics on which developers I want to see show off their junk, but more important the games. Call of Duty; Black Ops, Marvel Vs. CAPCOM 3, Batman; Arkham Asylum 2, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon; Future Solider, King of Fighter XIII, Dead Space 2, Crysis 2, Castlevania; Lord of Shadow, Star Wars(All 30 of them) Naruto; Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, and Rock Band 3.
I’m sure the games, demonstration and events will be a year to remember. After all, it’s the year to stroke your hands for real gameplay. Motion control style!
And KB once again.
A couple of jimmys got a behind closed doors demo of 2K's new squad based 3rd person shooter...
Spec Ops: The Line was demoed for us today, here's some initial thoughts.
The game takes place in near-future Dubai that has been covered meters deep in sand and nearly abandoned. The unique setting provides some great opportunities for spectacular level design. We only saw half a level, so I can't say if the game will live up to that promise, but the visuals I did see were quite good especially considering that this was a very early build (The Line is scheduled for a 2011 release). With the arterial spatter and the corpses being devoured by crows, this is an M-rated title for sure.
The sand plays an important role, as it allows you to use the environment to your advantage, either by destroying a wall and dumping tons of sand (tons!) on your enemies or blowing up a window allowing sand into the building you are trying to find a way out of and using said sand as stairs.
You play as the captain and roll with two jimmys beside you that you can issue commands to, but the AI seems to do pretty well on its own already. This is where the biggest dissapointment came in; even though this is a squad based shooter, there will be no co-op in the campaign. (Though there will be a separate co-op "experience" that the developers were not ready to take the wraps off of yet.) Seriously though, I know not every game can be co-op through the story, but a squad based shooter is just such a natural fit for that, I guess I just expect it now and am dissapointed when I don't see it.
Stay tuned as this game gets closer to release, I see some potential here if the multiplayer comes through.

If it’s not one thing it’s another. Gouki.com is very excited for attending E3 as a member of the media for the very first time.
12:15am Day 0 of E3 2010. Today I woke up with an extremely heavy head. I rolled downstairs and got into a taxi and explained to the driver that I must get to the convention center as soon as possible. I just poured a little/lot of Jack into a can of coke I’m drinking. I watched the Microsoft press conference today from the E3 media lounge. The signal was really hard to get a hold of and I actually saw less than half of it. What I got from what I saw is … Cut anything will pwn!. Half of the Microsoft press conference involved games that require me to stand up and not hold anything, just flail myself in different ways at the screen. The animal one (Kenictmals) does look interesting to me. If I could just turn on a rhino to hang out on my TV and if I waived my hands at it to have in ram the screen or do some flips. I still say a real tiger should have come out and attacked the little girl. Halo Reach, again. Yes yes, I want to play I will be at the store, in line, before midnight waiting for it to be released. Don’t be a Jimmy.
Did I tell you about how fnjimmy pissed himself. I throw my hand up. Because telling this story is so absurd to me. The story is all facts and I have a hard time telling it truthfully. Have another drink. At dinner we ate a Irish bar on Figueroa St. in downtown L.A. Jimmy had two beers. Jimmy pissed right before we left the bar. Two blocks later the man is bent over in what he exclaims is excruciating pain.
Real time break. Jimmy was just bent over in my room picking his feet. I kicked the man out. Stay tuned for the continuation of the pee pants story. I apologize.
Let’s talk about games. Have another drink walk around. 12:39 in the hotel room. Wtf. More CG for The Old Republic. New Need for Speed is Burnout 3. Ubisoft’s press conference sounded terrible. I was watching the A-Team. Sounds like I made the right decision. Looked at the Activsion pwnfest that was taking place inside the Staples center and shook my fist! I said to myself I’m gonna get shit faced when they let me in there. Day 1! Very excited to play some new games. What is up with Marvel vs Capcom 3 Jimmy?!

BatRastered quote of the day: Network fail.
This story is about me playing WWE Stars at E3 2010
Ok today I tried out WWE All Stars over at E3 and it is still in production so all they had is John Cena and The Rock, now when there finished it will have a lot of wrestlers from what I believe is from the 2000's, 90's and 80's. Some people hate it so far but u got to understand like I said before it is still in the works but to me it's going to be good for what it is. The fighting is basic and easy to pick up I did not know what I was doing but I figured it out as I played the game. I'm thinking that the announcers will say different things over and over again. And I'm hoping they get the crowd to interact in some way. Now I agree that the animation looks retarded but it still be fun as hell.
