Final Fantasy XIV and my serious problem

By: goukijones Aug 18, 2010 | 4 Comments

My brain continues to argue with itself over the Final Fantasy XIV. I have so many issues here Jimmy.

First of all it's on the PC straight away for $74.99 and yes I have to get the collector's edition. If I do not get the collector's edition and really love the game and play it for years. I'll be real upset with myself. Plus I need that Onion Helm and whatever other goodies it comes with.

The Benchmark test: I recently ran the benchmark test, but before I can tell you my results let me share a few tidbits with you. I had to re-install an older version of DirectX to just run the benchmark. Wtf? Then it ran smoothly, but my score well was below the minimum. Maybe because my computer was running an older version of DirectX? My computer is brand new, I have a video card that I bought this year for like $200. It should work right?

What if it doesn't? My computer is how I work[attempt to make a living], I can't work[attempt to make a living] all morning and then have an all night pwnfest on the FF14 and run my computer for 20 hours a day. That shit will fry. Then I'll be addicted for sure by that point, with no FF14 and now no computer to work[attempt to make a living]. So that's that problem. Solution ... be prepared to upgrade.

Waiting for the PS3: Wait until March? Are you crazy? Don't forget about the Onion Helm. Oh and there's the 6 month headstart the rest of the Jimmys will get on you. This time around, I want to start at the very beggining with everyone else.

Backwards compatible PS3: I have one of those rare PS3's that is backwards compatible and is worth thousands according to Ebay. I don't really want to break that either. The current plan is to buy it for the PC and try to control myself. Then when March rolls around, buy another, yes a second PS3 just to play FF14.

I was super addicted to Final Fantasy XI and I know I will get hooked on this one fo sho. The game looks amazing, there are no words for the beauty of it. The Making of a realm vidoc series is absolutely mindboggling. When I think about the jobs and the world and the monsters. It's without a doubt I'm going to get lost with this game.

Estrada says he is getting this game. Gorilla Warbear is still playing FF11 because he was hoping for a Beta key for FF14 or to get something when FF14 comes out. Well he's gonna get something, but I don't care too much for it. Hermes’ Shoes. “Named after an elder god, all but forgotten in the modern age, these gold-tipped shoes have been crafted with the lightest of leathers, making them optimal for use by heralds and noterunners.”

We've already touched on setting up our squad and putting ourselves in different roles for crafting and fighting. This is not good, I'm already drawing charts in bed at night before I go to sleep. I can't stop thinking about which way I want my character to go.

I can't even decide if I want to be a little Jimmy(Lalafell) or an Elf Jimmy(Elezen.) I was a little Jimmy in FF11. I don't want to be a human or the big Gorilla Warbear looking thing. The elves look cool, but I don't know what job I would focus on. At least the little Jimmys look cool doing anything in the game, so I'll probably pick one of them. So then it's decided. I'll a "Lalafell" in FF14.

As far as Jobs go forget about it. I have no idea. I might just level up all different kinds at the beggining. It depends on how many friends I have and if we are actually leveling up together to go do missions and stuff. I like healing, because I don't trust anybody else doing it. I will most definitely choose a trade that will make a lot of money, like medicines or food. Consumable items are the way to go.

It's official, I'm going to pre-order the Final Fantasy XIV. I'm going to promise myself to not let it get out of hand. I can not break my PC, must survive on it until March. Lalafell healer/thief and cooking/medicine master! Look for me when the game comes out. Want to get on the same planet with me? Leave a comment and lets start the Gouki Guild! Don't be a Jimmy!

Final Fantasy XIV review for pc w/ Kevin VanOrd & Gametrailers

By: goukijones Oct 10, 2010 | 4 Comments | Updated: Apr 13, 2016

Is this game a waste of life more than any other game I've ever played. I think so. Plus Kevin VanOrd from Gamespot reads my mind. *UPDATED - Editor fucked up.

**UPDATED October 11, 2010**

I fucked up. Credit should go to Gametrailers.com for such an awesome review as well.

Here's what happened: BatRastered originally played the Gametrailers.com review for me while I listened from my computer. I ran over to watch every few seconds, but didn't pay close attention to the visuals. The other night when I wrote this story (possibly after a few drinks) I searched for Final Fantasy XIV review on youtube and came across the Kevin VanOrd video, I played the video in the background mostly just listening and Kevin pretty much says the same stuff. That's why I thought it was the same video.(And I had a few more at this point) I couldn't agree with both video anymore. Like I say below, if I wrote a review now it would be verbatim to these two videos. So check out the Gametrailers.com video review, the original PWN review of Final Fantasy XIV.

Eorzea ― The Making of a Realm #2 (English version) New video shows off wildlife.

"Simply observing the wildlife in your travels across Eorzea will be part of the fun!" That's a quote from the video below. I agree. These models look amazing. One of the things that captivated me most about Final Fantasy XI when I played was, all the animals and creatures just walking around outside the city gates. I don't know what to do about the Final Fantasy XIV ... PC or wait for the PS3? Jimmy?

Video game season draws near. Red Dead Redemption on sale. Deathsmiles Bad Ass Limited Edition. Crackdown 2 Tuesday night pwnfest. Start saving money on every new video game you buy. Don't be a Jimmy!

So You Think You Can Gather airs every Thursday LIVE on Gouki.tv. 1PM pst. All gathering/crafting level 50. Server Malboro. Learn tricks from 1 of the best on the server. This week, Unspoiled Node hopping.

As you can see if you are watching errrr skipping thru this video is that, this is a rough draft of my plan to maximize time spent while gathering from unspoiled nodes. Near the end of the video I begin to realize that just getting shards, crystals & clusters during this time is the best bet. Yeah I can swing out to the Gold ore or the Darksteel ore. I can't really figure out what else really has in value. (at least on my server) Trillium? Really? I'll probably swing out for Crawler Cocoons.

Basically it all comes down to the Clusters & stuff. People are always in need for those & they are constantly selling. Since SE wiped out a bunch of other bots last week the price on all of them as only gone up.

WTF is Thanksgiving this week? So we're probably gonna skip the show. Perhaps I'll do a special episode on Saturday. Follow me on Twitter @GoukiJones & on the Twitch as well to find out when Gouki.tv goes LIVE.

Thanks for watching.

The SE team unboxing the Final Fantasy XIV: ARR Collector's Edition.

This is for you fancy pants jimmys that can afford the Collector's Edition version of the game. Want to see what comes inside the box? Take a look!

No seriously, I'm asking you. I click exit game & my character lies down in bed & this happens ...

Back during phase 3 of the beta Jimmys were complaining that our characters wouldn't actually lay down in the bed when logging out. Well she will lay down now & then with a sudden burst be standing up at the last second again just before the screen goes black. Honestly I'd rather just save the few seconds & skip the animation of my character getting in bed. It's worthless. Don't be a Jimmy!

Thanks for watching.

Reshaping of the clothes?! Sold! And if you keep playing FF11 you get stuff.

Ok for you Jimmys out there still playing Final Fantasy XI and who intend to sill play when Final Fantasy XIV comes out there's some good news for you. When you create a character on FF14 and still have an active and connected account on FF11 you will get some flashy boots. Hermes' Shoes to be exact check it out!

Final Fantasy XIV exclusive FF11 bonus

Final Fantasy XIV exclusive FF11 bonus

BIG EXCITEMENT!! The description of the boots doesn't exactly say what they do. I would assume you move a little faster, but I don't know what anything of the FF14 lingo is yet. Here's what Square-Enix says. "Named after an elder god, all but forgotten in the modern age, these gold-tipped shoes have been crafted with the lightest of leathers, making them optimal for use by heralds and noterunners."

Also, you're FF11 monthly fee will drop from $12.95 to $7.00 as long as both accounts stay active and you aren't using a trial. The sneaky catch here is " This offer will remain in effect until January 2011"

And finally the name carry over has been explained to me. I don't like it. It's your old name and the planet you were from. So I would be Basterboi Garuda ... hmmmm that does have a nice ring to it. Maybe I should think about it. Here's how it is explained:

When prompted, upon selecting the FINAL FANTASY XI character name as the FINAL FANTASY XIV playable character name, the transferred name will be the FINAL FANTASY XI player character name + FINAL FANTASY XI world name the character resides on.

·          Example:

o         FINAL FANTASY XI Player Character Name: Destiny

o         FINAL FANTASY XI World Name: Odin

o         The resulting FINAL FANTASY XIV character name: Destiny Odin

This here rack o'nuabs discuss when the FFXIV servers will break. These idiots have know idea what they are talking about. Plus other news, like Gamescom. Uplay & Splinter Cell. FnJimmy is dumb.

So yeah, not even close with the servers crashing problem. They went down first 8AM on Saturday & again at 1:30PM. The Duty Finder has completely crashed & players can't finish quests or enter dungeons. They have a fix they say & I assume that's what they are doing now with this server downtime.

Thanks for watching.

Beating turn 2 of Coil is pretty simple. If you don't mind dealing with enrage mode & have 3 healz.

Team Gouki & [FC] TAW down turn 2 in 1 shot w/ a new strategy. Visit Gouki.com & TAW.net for more info. This aired live on Gouki.tv. Coil streams every Weds & Saturday.

Basically what's going on here is we wait until ADS gets down to 1 click & he will go into RAGE MODE. At that point he won't do anything else, but spa AOE's. So we just spam AOE heals & burn him down with DPS. Pretty easy, I was kicking myself for not trying other ways after wiping on this stupid balls for weeks.

Thanks for watching.

The latest video for FFXIV shows off some of the later dungeons in the game. They're not all dark in gloomy either. I can't wait to just queue up for random dungeons at some point.

Check out my other FFXIV stories.

1 of the more tougher fights earlier in the game, just because I think a lot of people get suprised & are not patient enough to stay focused in battle. It’s a long, but it’s easy. Check out this exclusive Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn video.

This isn't that hard, just stay alive Jimmy. Most people are just surprised by the duoble battle that takes place here, but you can do it!

Thanks for watching.
