Dead or Alive came out in September, but unfortunately right after Borderlands 2. So I did try it for a few hours, but that had been it until today.
Dead or Alive has returned to the Playstaion for the first time in over a decade. And it has been since 2005 for the Xbox users. I've been a fan from the begging of the series and have enjoyed every game, except the handhelds. Naturally I was very excited to get the new one. And thanks to Gouki.com I was able to have a copy pre-ordered. Sadly when I first got it I was so hooked on Borderlands 2 I only played for a few hours. So I waited to do a review until I at least finished the story mode.
When you first jump in to story mode you get a short video of Bayman then it jumps to Zack training with the new MMA girl Mila. You enter that fight and are given a training mission. Not really what I was expecting, but I thought it would be okay. Back to Bayman and a mysterious ninja tears through his team. You get some more videos and the game is looking great as always. More videos. Then you get to a fight between Bass and Rig on the oil rig. Creative right? Another training mission. That is already old. Tutorials belong in their own section if you ask me. Another video, But then you finally get to the timeline screen and the game is ready to start. Kind of.
The timeline adds points as you make it through the story and you can go back and re-watch video or play a fight again if you missed the bonus mission. Kasumi is selected for you and you get three fights each with a bonus mission. Now I'm kind of annoyed with the missions being tacked on to the matches, And not getting to select my character sucks. Then you get a new chapter, three fights .... rinse ande repeat. The story starts to jump back and forth and you often end up on the other side of a fight that you already did. I made it up to Bass, chapter 8 I think, and then I decided to give it a rest. Playing through the story you unlock Akira and Sarah.
So when I picked it back up I was playing as Bass. Who has a very unnatural obsession with his daughter. And he comes out as a masked wrestler "Mr Strong". Still stuck in the same pattern. And it makes it hard to get familair with a character when you only get to do three fights then switch. Jan Lee wind the tournament but the story is not done. You eventually get to fight as Kasumi against Alpha-152. But the story is still not over. When you get to your final fights the character transforms as you fight. It still doesn't feel like a boss fight though. After everything is over you get a few of those this isn't over scenes so they can set up DoA 6.
As usual the levels are destructible and have areas you can knock people off, but they have added these more action sequences where the level kind of attacks you. One of the best examples is a war scene where incomming fire can hit you or your oponent when triggered. There was stuff like cars that could run you over in the last game, but they wanted it to be bigger. But I feel like it pulls you out of the game and sometimes takes takes way to long to get back to the fight.
You have your standard online and offline fights, including survival mode, arcade, time attack. And I've noticed some lag while playing offline and that bothered me. But going online some of the matches are pretty much unplayable.
You have costumes that you unlock by playing as a character in the offline modes. And of course there are DLC costumes like the one above for Hayabusa. Sadly many of them so far are just old costumes or are new but boring. Add being extremly over-priced and they get worse. The fist pack was free, but the new ones come out in groups of 3 or you can buy that weeks full bunde for $13. There are 3 of these already and the game is only a little over a month old. So if you are going for it to be complete it is going to be expensive.
I feel like the game isn't as fluid as usual, but it could just be being rusty from playing nothing but Borderlands 2. Overall you get the feeling that something is off. And it hasn't gone away. As much as I wanted to love the game I feel let down. It could just be that my expectations were to high, but I just can't give the game a buy it. If you are a huge fan you'll want it anyway, if not you will be better off renting it first.

Raychul Moore, long time friend of Gouki.com recently visited San Diego Comic-Con. She has a few great stories to tell from the event. From random Jimmys hating on the Booker DeWitt gender swap & of course the 12 year nuabs I mentioned.
Me? I don't know how I feel about the gender swap stuff, but that's 1 of her gimmicks & that's fine. She's easily the most popular girl I know who is doing that. A little weird yeah, but she makes it work. My only thing is like the Drake, she did Drake from Uncharted a few years back. She had on the same thing he did, long sleeve shirt & jeans. That's definitely more of a personal thing, she wasn't trying to appeal to any sex there. What am I talking about at this point? The Booker DeWitt was definitely sexier, but she explains why in the video below. Plus there's the whole story about the 12 year olds & Cammy's butt.
Thanks for watching. Who are your favorite nerd girls? Leave her name in the comments for me. ;-)

This game is still in development by Mane6 but they started putting out a lot of updates to their progress and on top of that they released a new video showing other characters.
Now of course I'm sure most will look at this and say what the hell are you posting about this girl crap? But trust me, this game actually plays well and is fun. I watch a livestream demo and got to see actual real time game play and considering this is a fan game made by a new developement team with no prior games I'd say they have some skills in the design and gameplay department. This may be a group to watch for in the future when they decided to make other games.
The game itself is freeware and I'm guessing it will be available on Windows PC's and maybe Mac's. Console versions would require getting a proper license from Hasbro. A free app version could show up on the iPhone and Android OS's.
Here's a scene from a livestream preview with the creators of the game. They talk and demo some of the features.

This is a game that I am recommending to you.
Rage 2 has been the first new game that I’ve played in a while that I really enjoyed. I wasn’t expecting much, but the trailers for the game were getting me hype to play. I did not like the first Rage and I don’t recommend it. It felt very linear to me and I don’t mix well with hallway-esque gameplay. Rage 2 however, is very different, it’s a beautifully open world.
How open is it?! Well for some examples; I beat the game without even going to one region on the map. I then found 2 other towns after I had beaten the game. I love that the game is that open. To be honest I was WAAAY over powered going into the final battle. I wasn’t expecting it to be the end, but it was. It was a little lackluster too for the final boss, not very challenging. If I were to play through this game again, I would definitely raise the difficulty setting. I played it on HARD and it was Too Easy….Read full story...

Here's something completely unexpected from E3 2019.
This game was certainly a surprise. Long have I waited and many have I tried, but none have compared to the classic Final Fantasy Tactics. I’ve played so many tactics games looking for the same feel as the original FFT, but I never found it. Final Fantasy Tactics on the Gameboy Advance are also good games, but not the exact same. Then during E3 The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics was shown.Read full story...

Have you ever wanted to battle it out as some of the biggest names in the Square Enix roster?
Final Fantasy has been an icon for many gamers world wide, we have put countless hours into the games, and we still come back for more. Dissidia 012 is a prequel to the previous PSP game, and it will let you fight as your favorite characters.
Need I say more?
Ok how about this.
and I guess this wouldn't hurt..
The game will be here March 22, so what do you need to know?
The roster? Ok. The Original cast, Warrior of Light (Final Fantasy), Firion (FF2), Onion Knight (FF3), Cecil Harvey (FF4), Bartz Klauser (FF5), Terra Branford (FF6), Cloud Strife (FF7), Squall Leonhart (FF8), Zidane Tribal (FF9), Tidus (FF10), Shantotto (FF11), Cosmos (Dissidia), Garland (Final Fantasy), The Emporer (FF2), Cloud of Darkness (FF3), Golbez (FF4), Exdeath (FF5), Kefka Palazzo (FF6), Sephiroth (FF7), Ultimecia (FF8), Kuja (FF9), Jecht (FF10), Gabranth (FF12), Chaos (Final Fantasy). Pretty good right?
But then you add a few new ones, Kain Highwind (FF4), Gilgamesh (FF5), Tifa Lockhart (FF7), Laguna Loire (FF8), Yuna (FF10), Prishe (FF11), Vaan (FF12), Lighning (FF13) and how about add Aerith as a support character if you play the demo.
You get a Fighter an a Single Player Story mode, so it's got plenty to offer.
I wish it was on the PS3, but the PSP will do just fine.
Will you be picking it up? Who will you play as first? Don't be a Jimmy.
Just how did Akuma reach his current level of absolute power? What training method did he use? What event triggered his ascension beyond his already powerful Shin Akuma form??..
Clouds loomed over the night sky. A thunderstorm was approaching. The starry night sky and moonlit earth turned to darkness and shadows. There, in the middle of a grassy field having been dispersed by a powerful Sekia Kuretsuha (an emotion of powerful dark energy known as The Satsui No Hado), stood Akuma in thought. His eyes glowing red with power. Images of his battle with Gouken passed through his mind. His brother had obtained the Power Of Nothingness. Able now to neutralize any energy based or special attack, returning it to it's source, rendering it harmless. Akuma and Gouken have always been near equal in fighting ability, one specializing in offense while the other in defense. But if Gouken could make special attacks useless while still using his, Akuma would need to find a new weapon of offense.Read full story...

Originally released back in 1998 in the Arcades, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a hardcore fighting game based on the original manga Stardust Crusaders. It’s finally being re-released for everyone’s enjoyment on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Is it worth your money?
If you were a fighting game fan back in the late 90’s going to the Arcades you may have heard of and played JoJo’s Venture or the later renamed JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Although if you were like me then you never got a chance to play it because either your arcade didn’t have it or you were hooked on Street Fighter III and Marvel vs Capcom games. Unfortunately the latter was the case for many of us and we missed out on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Even after the game was ported to the PS1 and Dreamcast many gamers had no clue this game existed. Capcom has given us the opportunity to play this golden gem from the CPS-3 era on the PS3 and Xbox 360 with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD.
The story of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD (JoJo HD) is based on the 3rd story arc of the original Manga commonly known as Stardust Crusaders. Following a teenager named Jotaro Kujo who develops “Bizarre” supernatural powers known as the “Stand”. Jotaro learns from his grandfather Joseph Joestar of the relation of the “Stand” with their bloodline and of the ancestral enemy of his family, a vampire by the name Dio Brando. Jotaro then embarks on a quest to save his mother and to defeat the evil Dio. JoJo’s HD explains the story of all 22 characters through the games story mode (Arcade).Read full story...

After a while being away from Gouki.com I have returned to find a challenge, I must somehow choose a team from a roster of the stars of Street Fighter and Tekken. Wish me luck.
The death of my pc has kept me from being able to post on here since November, but with a Laptop ready to go I return to the site to do some catching up, and what do I find? Gouki.com has another kickass giveaway going on. And this time it was for Street Fighter X Tekken. All it takes is write a story about the team you want to play as, easy right. Wrong. As I look over the roster I realize that a team of two characters just isn't big enough.
The truth is from the Tekken side I have a few favorites, Jin and Kazuya are at the top of the list but you can't overlook Yoshimitsu or King.
If they had the right Jin He'ld be on the team for sure.
I just couldn't decide. So I decided to check out the Street Fighter side. And it just made things worse. Ibuki felt like a sure thing, at first.
But as I looked at the list there were just to many great characters to choose from. Akuma (Gouki) is always high on the list
And you just can't over look Cammy...
This just keeps getting more complicated. I'm sure all use them all in various combinations until I find the right mix, but I still have to start somewhere. So I just keep watching videos and reminiscing about all the fun I've had with them in the past. And then it hit me. What better team could I start with? How was it not obvious from the start?
Poison and Juri! Juri is one of the craziest female characters to ever put the digital beatdown on anyone. And Poison can throw down with the best of them with the added bonus of distracting your opponent as the wonder if she's packing heat. The quest was over! For now at least. Until I have a chance to try the characters out and really get into the mechanics of the game (including how much I suck with various characters) I can't be sure what my final team will be, but I do have a place to start.
Best of luck to all of you who enter. And remember don't be a Jimmy!
And just for the Jimmys...

The first DLC released for Borderlands 2 is a whole new class to play with, is the Mechromancer worth your time?
If you pre-ordered Borderlands 2 (from select retailers) you got the Premiere club for free, this gave you a few start-of-game weapons, but more importantly gives you free access to the first DLC, a new class called the Mechromancer. If you didn't pre-order, this DLC costs $9.99 (800 MSP).

Goldsmith I think is 1 of the fastest & cheapest ways to level up a Disciple of the Hand in Final Fantasy XIV. Raw materials are cheap & can be turned into very expensive items. All you need is patience & knowledge of your crafter catalog
I had to move right away because I didn't like that guys ass in my shot in the video. lol.
You can see I'm only synthing with HQ raw Silver Ore. This already gives me a boost of quality. Almost half. I do this because you can collect cheap Silver Ore for a few a days. Then when you have a stack you start to craft. (I know I keep saying this, but it's 1 of my favorite strategies.)
Don't even try to get crazy with any of my crafting techniques until you have Tricks of Trade & Careful Synthesis. I live by those 2 while crafting & they are constantly used.
Step 1: Pop Inner Quiet. ESPECIALLY if you have Rumination. (Carpenter level 15)
Step 2: Look to see if Tricks of the Trade is available.
Step 3: Use Steady Hand.
Step 4: Use Standard Touch. Stop to get any Tricks of Trades that pop up.
Step 5: Use Master's Mend when you are down to 10 Durability. Watch for Tricks of the Trade.
At this point everything depends on how much CP you have left. Use Steady hand if you can, even if you only have enough for 1 Standard Touch afterwards. Remember Tricks of the Trade can pop up anytime & you might get 2 shots. Or get just enough CP to use Standard Touch of Basic Touch.
You can always use Rumination at the end if you need just a little more CP, it's a great back up.
Final Step: Use Careful Synthesis to finish the synth. If you know Careful Synthesis & Basic Synthesis will both get the job done in less than 2 turns, USE CAREFUL SYNTHESIS in finish. IT'S Guaranteed.
Hope you make a lot of HQ & Gil. Good luck.
Thanks for reading. Don't be a Jimmy.

One of the most talked about games at E3 2019.
Gearbox Software is such a great company with Borderlands. Borderlands has been one of my favorite franchises since the release almost 10 years ago. Speaking of almost ten years ago, how about a BRAND NEW Borderlands 2 DLC, a game released 7 years ago. An entire new adventure that links Borderlands 2 to Borderlands 3. Check out the trailer.
Now about Borderlands 3… It’s amazing! Everything looks like what you would expect from a AAA company releasing their flagship game at the end of a console cycle. Similar to how Borderlands 2 was released. Anyway… doesn’t matter. Borderlands 3 is already in contention for Game Of The Year and it’s not even out yet!Read full story...
