New Total War: Shogun 2 video - This new gameplay demonstration video shows the developers confidence and the challenging AI.

The developers in the video are English and quite entertaining.
The game looks pretty exciting, but I don't play PC games. I would give this a try on a console, no doubt. Where is Halo Wars 2?

The Conduit Review

By: reipuerto Feb 11, 2011 | 8 Comments

Late to the party but early to the finality…

What up Jimmies? Rei here with another exciting review.  This time, The Conduit, developed by High Voltage Software and published by SEGA. But wait, you might be saying, “You Jimmy! That’s a 2009 game! Way to be late!” Well, no. Now is the perfect time to bring more hype to the squeal. Developers at High Voltage Software are an amazing team. More famously known for The Conduit, for the Wii, and soon to be sequel, The Conduit 2. They’re a small time company with a fantastic engine for the Wii. So let’s begin.

Story- You start off as an agent for the government that fights the good fight and lives for apple pie. But you soon find out(Not a spoiler) that you’re working for the wrong cause. You initially work for the “Trust”  group and you’re out to stop a “terrorist” attack. But you find out that the “terrorists” are actually the good guys trying to stop the “Trust” for an alien invasion, really. It’s not bad but not original. Although the story keeps it easy, you won’t get lost in any over the top plot twist. But since there IS a SEQUEL coming out, the ending to the first one is rather short. It leaves with a cliffhanger, which leads to the second one. Like I said, the story won’t win any awards.

Gameplay- This is where the meat is! Since this is a First Person Shooter on a motion controller system, it makes sense that it works… And does it!! There’s an initial learning curve, but once you get over the hump, you’ll be blasting away headshots and alien’s faces off! Smooth controls give you a sense of control of where your shots go. To shoot, point and press B. You can throw grenades by a flick of the nun-chuck. To reload, you press right on the D-pad. As you play the game, your suit gets upgraded to better your chances in victory! To melee, just thrust the Wii-mote forward. Weapons run from the standard to the ‘where’s the ammo to THIS gun?! I’m whooping numbs with one shot!! ’ Majority of the weapons have a primary fire and secondary fire. Some weapons even use motion control to control the direction of the shot! In all honestly, High Voltage Software developed the control style to just about ANYONE! There’s an option to reset the button layout. So it’s a good setup with functional controls for whooping numbs.

Graphic-  I’m not big on graphics, but this game shines as an EARLY Xbox 360 game. With that being said, you’re getting one of the most impressive engines on the Wii. Very well light and shading effects, awesome depth of field and good use of texture. Only down side, the game leads you from one gun fight to another in corridors. It’s not a bad thing, but you’ll see some similar level design and not appreciating the effects that comes with it.

Sound- The human’s weapon sound good. It’s no surround sound but it gets its point across. But the alien’s weapons all sound like they came from a Mattel toy

*Online- (Yes, it gets its own heading) It’s really fun! Like I said before, you’ll be blasting friend and foe with ease, once you get over the hump. Online offers 12 players killfeast on ‘Free-for-all’, but also offered  team base game modes. It has a match making system that will find you in a good position, to me at least. You could use friend codes but you don’t have to, if you don’t want to.  It has seven different maps and 15 weapons and Wii-Speak support, you’re ready to talk smack to those little Jimmies running around going crazy!

Over all- Buy it! The story mode will take you around seven to eight hours to complete and you can play online to further the experience!

*Jimmy Notes(Just in case you skipped straight to the bottom)

Pros;

  • Great controls
  • Great visual effects
  • Awesome online (to this day!)

Cons;

  • Bland level design
  • Could’ve used better story

And don’t forget to check out our previous story on this game and it’s squeal too!

Gouki.com got a hands on demonstration of the new Limited Edition Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight Stick at the $21,000 Tournament in Las Vegas. Based off the vintage arcade style, this fight stick is priced to sell and comes with 3 Mortal Kombat Games.

Gouki.com was at the $21,000 Mortal Kombat tournament this weekend in Las Vegas and we got some hands on time with the new Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight Stick. Developed by PDP and designed to take you back to the golden age of arcades, this fight stick looks like it was ripped right out of an arcade cabinet from the 90's. Original tweet.

Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight Stick

This Fight Stick has a memory foam underside, how cool is that? It feels great, the buttons click away just like your Mad Catz FightSticks, but what I really like about this stick is the actual joystick. Old school arcade favorite for me. This is an exclusive fight stick and is limited to only 6000 units. You also get Mortal Kombat 1, 2 and 3 DLC codes. Only 6000 made, $130, a fight stick and 3 Mortal Kombat games. If you're planning on being a tournament player or you just don't have a fight stick yet, this is Deals Jimmy! Pre-order now.

BioShock Infinite Pro-Tips & Review

By: goukijones May 8, 2013 | 1 Comments

GoukiJones shares his secrets to playing BioShock Infinite on Hard. Also gives his take on whether you should, Buy, Rent or Flush it!

BioShock Infinite Pro-Tips:

  1. Use Possess. Wait for that enemy to die or kill himself. Hit the next enemy with Possess, wait for him to die or kill himself. Do this until everyone is dead.
  2. Out of Ammo, Salts or in need of Health? Just wait for Elizabeth to throw it to you. She'll even toss you Rockets. What? She hasn't tossed you anything in a while? You could be fucked, try back tracking a little & have her hide in a different area, she'll keep throwing you stuff.
  3. Level up whatever guns you like using most. You can't level up every gun. Stick with what works. Side note: Upgrades (other than additional ammo) seemed worthless anyway. For a 1999 achievement you can't even use vending machines. That makes me think the guns are even more irrelevant.
If you need more help, check this out.

Get that guide on sale: $23.11

BioShock didn't leave me with any great memories. I think Tomb Raider was way more fun to play. BioShock Infinite really missed out on the Big Daddy hunts. Yeah there are the Handymen to battle, but those fight were whack & there's only like 4-5 of them.

There's no reason to back track in the game. It's very straight forward.

Combat was bland as well. The guns didn't feel great & weren't very fun to shoot. Plus I was just possessing most of the Jimmys & letting them do all the work. I didn't use much of the other Salt power things either. Elizabeth was cool & I love how she HELPS you. Her AI was great, unfortunately the AI of the Jimmys you were fighting against wasn't too great. Maybe they should have saved some for them. Bad guys pretty much just shot back from where ever they were. I never saw anything smart. & the Handyman were Zzzzzzz, like I said, he would just rush you down, so you just run away, turn around & shoot. Big disappointment.

You could beat this game on hard fairly quickly & with not much of a challenge. Fighting the ghosts was the toughest battle for me. But then I adapted to that soon enough & that wasn't challenging either.

I like the Skyhook stuff, that's 1 of the coolest was to get around in any game that I've seen in a while. Doesn't do much for the rest of the game tho. I didn't like BioShock Infinite, but I don't hate it either. You should Rent it.

Final character story trailer released along with all 4 character skill trees.

Borderlands.com also released all the the character skill trees.  You can put the points in and build out your character and see what all the different perks and moves are.  I love that this is available now, this should certainly help me decide which character I want to choose.  FL4K lookin' good in that trailer tho!

My 2010 Gaming Resolutions

By: jalexbrown Jan 6, 2010 | 5 Comments

Peek inside to see what sort of gaming resolutions I've set for 2010 (and fear not, there's no cheesy 1900x1200 jokes in here).

Is it really 2010 already?  I can't believe another whole year flew by with me failing to make a single resolution; I guess I can look on the bright side: if I didn't make any resolutions, I kept all of them.  So I decided that for 2010, I'm going to make a few resolutions, but being the gamer that I am, I decided to make all my resolutions gaming-related.

My first resolution is simple: pick up Final Fantasy XIII on day one.  I've been excited for this game since the day I picked up Final Fantasy XII for the PS2, because - and let's be honest here - we can always rest assured there will be another Final Fantasy.  This is really the series that single-handedly got me back into gaming after a period of absence from the hobby, and since then I've always hyped up the next Final Fantasy release.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, did I mention that another goal of mine is to go another year without playing an MMO.  I did World of Warcraft for a bit in '08, but I quit in '09; it wasn't a resolution of mine, or even a goal...I just got bored with it.  But in the time that I've spent away from World of Warcraft, I've realized that I want to avoid any MMO game like the plague.  I lost too much of '08 to World of Warcraft, so here's to another year of keeping my life in tact.  (I guess a few people are wondering what connection this has to Final Fantasy; do a quick little Google for Final Fantasy XIV if you still don't know.)

My other resolution for this year is to actually beat some of the games I buy.  Last year was a great year for me in terms of buying games, but it was a horrible year for me in terms of playing them.  Why does it seem that I have shelves lined with games that I haven't even started yet?  Aside from my obligatory purchase of Final Fantasy XIII (and maybe Mass Effect 2...it looks very promising), I'm setting a goal for 2010 to not buy any games until I've beaten some of my backlog of games.  Maybe I'll finally get around to playing some of those PS1 games this year if I hold out on buying any more games for a while.

So there you have it, folks: my 2010 gaming resolutions.  I made it through this whole article without cracking a single joke about 1900x1200, a little bit surprising if I do say so myself.  In any case, I think that 2010 may be my best year in a while in terms of gaming.  I'm getting a new Final Fantasy, I'm getting to keep my social life - assuming that the new Final Fantasy doesn't eat it away for a while - and I'm going to complete a bunch of games that I haven't even gotten around to playing yet.  I hope everyone has some great resolutions for 2010 - feel free to discuss them below - and I hope that everyone is able to stick to them until January 1 of 2011 rolls around.  In the meantime, I guess there's only one thing I can say:

Happy 2010 to all the readers of Gouki!

Mark my words, this game is going to break records!

I can't express my excitement enough. Mostly because I am hype for the active combat, it's got a fast-paced FFXII vibe for me and I can't wait!

Order your copy today on PS4.

You've got to see it for yourself. Does Square Enix have a perfect blend of action and strategy? You be the judge.

Absolutely sick. This game is a remake and will not be like the original. It’s supposedly releasing in episodes and episode 1 is the entire Midgar City Quest/Mission. In the original game, Midgar was the starting area and once you left Midgar, you were out in open world.

I’ve bookmarked below where the E3 2019 Square Enix Press Conference begins to cover the mechanics of Final Fantasy VII.

Lets Talk about the Birdie and the Bees!

By: Cinderkin Nov 28, 2010 | 5 Comments

Since I've reached my 3rd Strike, I think it's time to express my feeling towards one of Gouki Jones' favorite Street Fighters.... Birdie (What a joke).

I love Street Fighter with its great cast of wacky characters, special moves, and one on one fighting. There have been some characters that have left quite a mark on the memories of gamers around the world. That is what you expect from a game with Fighters from around the world.

There is one character in particular that I want to talk about. That character would be Birdie. Why would anyone want to talk about this trash heap of a character? Well I've noticed that Gouki Jones here on Gouki.com has been constantly waiting for his return (why anyone would want him back is beyond me)

Lets start by taking a look at Birdie Himself

Birdie in Street Fighter

Birdie in Street Fighter Alpha, Alpha 2, Alpha 3

Do you see a problem here? What the heck happened to his Skin tone from Street Fighter to Alpha?

Here is a little back story for Birdie

Prior to his criminal career, Birdie was a professional wrestler, teaming with occasional rival Titanic Tim (from the Saturday Night Slam Masters series) as the "500 Million Trillion Powers." He turned to a life of crime when his wrestling career ended, doing some street fighting on the side to add to his income.

His notoriety got him invited to the first World Warrior tournament. He was suffering from a particularly nasty strain of flu, however, and lost his fight with Ryu.

Despite this setback, Birdie rose up the criminal ranks. He eventually became aware of an organization called Shadaloo and managed to use his criminal reputation to join them.

Sneaking into a Shadaloo data room, he learned about the Psycho Drive machine, not aware that M. Bison was watching him. Thinking he could use it to overthrow Bison and become lord of Shadoloo himself, he set out to find it. Bison sent Balrog to kill Birdie, but Birdie convinced Balrog to help him instead by telling him how the Psycho Drive could make them powerful. Hindered by Balrog's incompetence, however, Birdie couldn't find the Drive before it exploded.

It is likely that Birdie remained with Shadaloo until it finally collapsed, and is back on the streets.

Birdie's Win quote from Street Fighter Alpha 3

"Oh, what!? ... Before? I looked pale because I was sick!!"

I just wanted to briefly talk about Birdie and how I think he is trash and I'm glad he got his ass whooped by Abel in the new Street Fighter 4 comic series. The guy is a joke and is too stupid to realize that Dan is better than he is.

WTF @FnJimmy needs to learn about #MvC3

By: goukijones Aug 6, 2011 | 12 Comments

EVO changed my life. FnJimmy, not so much. He pretty much missed the entire event. I've been trying to explain to him, what I want to see from his team, Zero, Hulk, and Ryu. I put together this guide in hope, that FnJimmy will learn something.

Consider this the start of FnJimmy's EVO 2012 training. Don't get me wrong this is more for me, so that I can have a better challenge from the man. During EVO something happened to me, I've always loved fighting games. Hello, Gouki.com. The frickin' site is named after a Street Fighter. Maybe it's just my age, but I've felt like I can see through the game and understand what is happening. A lot better than I did 10 years ago. I switched to Phoenix recently, but if I played a serious match against you I wouldn't use her. She's so fast and really hard to get under control, especially Dark X-Factor Phoenix. Viscant was amazing at EVO and just after using Phoenix for a few days now, I realize Viscant has some amazing talent. I'd love to see how many total hours Viscant has played with Phoenix.

Sorry, this isn't about me, it's about FnJimmy. FnJimmy's MvC3 team is Zero, Hulk and Ryu. Everybody knows about Hulk's heavy punch, it goes through almost anything and the Hulk has armor, it's a real pain in the ass if you're not expecting it.

Here is a ridiculous video from YouTube user Fr6nk3nst31n.
http://www.youtube.com/user/Fr6nk3nst31n

MVC3: Mind that hitbox!

This video doesn't even show that the Hulk can still hit you with the H punch even if you hit him. This seems to happen in the air and on the ground. I have the easiest time getting through FnJimmy's Hulk with Hsien-Ko, her jumping H seems to go through the Hulk(When he's in the air only.) Also the standing H, FnJimmy doesn't seem to be able to block.

FnJimmy doesn't use some of the other moves in the Hulk repertoire, like the Gamma Wave and Gamma Tsunami. Check this out from YouTube user trag13.
http://www.youtube.com/user/trag13

MvC3: Hulk - Combo 01 - No Meter Bread & Butter!

MvC3: Hulk - Combo 02 - Hulk Crush!

Look at the fucking damage here.

MvC3: Hulk - Combo 05 - Full Metal Gamma Double!

BTW FnJimmy if you haven't seen Noah Raip, this is your competition.

Lets talk about Zero, I know Zero can destroy. Arthvader whipped the floor with me, in my one and only online match. I was so embarrassed. FnJimmy's problem here is that he has the Hulk H punch syndrome going. Everytime FnJimmy gets a clever throw on you, it's not clever first of all. He was just holding forward and smashing H.

So this Jimmy in this video below mentions MLG. I don't fully understand the difference between MLG and EVO type circuit, but isn't the FGC all the same. If MLG is offering huge prize money and competition on MvC3, then I think the pros will show up. I'm ready to go off here, because I don't care if it's EVO or MLG, but more of these events should be televised. EVO 2011 had incredible rating online and was on the air for 3 days straight almost 24 hours a day and people didn't log off until Monday morning. WTF?! That sounds like an advertisers dream. If had cash pouring out of my ass, I would first get my ass fixed and then buy a channel just to make sure EVO was live on TV. WTF G4? No show at all this year. I know it was ridiculous to have the Sessler there on commentary last year, but you still could have shown up and supported the event. What were we talking about? Zero? Fuckin' Jimmy!
http://www.youtube.com/user/FreezeCrackerFun

MVC3 - Using Zero Like A Hero (Zero Guide)

Moves that FnJimmy never does: Lighting, Dragon Punch, Buster Shot, Command Dash, Overhead, Level 3 Super, WTF? Don't go and bitch on SRK.

So I've been telling FnJimmy you have got to use that Level 3 super, it causes ridiculous damage and it could be chained with other supers and it can be X-Factored also. Oh that's too much for you to take in? How about this, it's just a simple a loop. Marvel has it's strategies, but the longer and more consistent combos you have memorized well help you PWN.

MvC3: Zero - Combo 04 - The D-Loop!

MvC3: Zero - Combo 01 - Nuts and Bolts!

As far as Ryu goes, FnJimmy you've been using Ryu since forever. Simple combos with him should be obvious and easy. Now WTF? This is my new best friend again trag13 keeping it real with his Ryu's videos.

MvC3: Ryu - Final Showdown! (100%* - No Assist, No X-Factor)

More raip, you can chain the Hurricane kick and super so easy with Ryu. Well not FnJimmy exactly.
MvC3: Ryu - Combo 02 - Simple Bread & Butter Variation

Marvel vs Capcom 3 - Ryu Combo Video
