For those of you who don't know ActRasier is a cross between Zelda II and Sim City. I was totally in love this game. ActRasier is a great example of a game that should have an Epic remake. Let's go Sqaure Enix.
This game always pops in and out of my head so I thought I'd write this story about it. ActRaiser is an old school game on the Super NES. It was developed by Quintet and published by Enix, now Square Enix. The gameplay is city management with a little bit of monster house cleaning mixed in. There's side scrolling dungeon crawling action with really cool boss fights, that is kind of like Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Then you have the Sim City aspect of the game where you develop towns and villages. You must appease your followers and they will shower you with gifts or shun you for being a nuab.
The games graphics and design were ahead of it's time I believe as I watch videos of this game now. The idea to mix these two genres together is gold itself. All of the monsters in the combat levels are different and distinct. The levels themselves offer a ton of variety from, deep dark dungeons to open sand dunes and flying through the clouds. The bosses are also really cool. I could totally see this game transitioning into a modern remake easily.
The music in the game is also another stand out. Acclaimed video game music director Yuzo Koshiro, famous for music from Streets of Rage, Ys series, old school Shinobi and other classics did the soundtrack. I could just rock out to the soundtrack. Actually I did, while uploading some videos today to youtube, I watched the entire speed run series from youtube user bigboss643. It's not him in the video playing, but he gives credit to the Jimmy who is. Check out these videos below and let me know what you think. I would totally play a God of War esque remake with some Sim City 4 city management action built it.
ActRaiser Speed Run Part 1
ActRaiser Speed Run Part 5
youtube user description: This is a speed run for ActRaiser on the Super Nintendo. I did not do this speed run. I got it from www.speeddemosarchive.com. I got it for all those ActRaiser fans out there, and non-fans alike. So please don't accuse me of copyright infringement, or plagiarism. Enjoy. - Check out the entire speed run on his channel.
Let me know what you think. Could this classic be remade into a modern day treasure?

Got my hands the new DLC for Dishonored last week. I beat it. I found some weird glitches happening. You can check out my thots here & take a look at this weird screen glitching. Prolly just the XBOX being from the nubfarm.
It’s no secret at this point. This Jimmy right here -this Jimmy trying to write out this story- is a BIG FAN of Dishonored. I got the Witches of Brigmore last week from Bethesda, shout out Bethesda. They love the FnJimmy Golden Video Review, they tell me. Sure. I had know idea what this DLC was about, I don’t have any of the other DLC & I can’t tell you too many DLC’s that I’ve liked in the past.
Swerve! This 1 is tight. You play a completely different character, one you -as the main character- actually killed in the Main Story. He was a boss. Daud. So you start out as Daud & you have to fight off the attack from the Main Story. Really sweet stuff. I think it’s a great idea & this DLC was off to a good start.
Daud has a bunch of different moves. He can summon assassin’s to fight alongside of him. (That was the first 1 I upgraded fully.) You can also improve his running, jumping, stealth just like the main character, Corvo. Daud seemed to move WAY faster than Corvo when I maxed him out. He was at least twice as fast as any guard running after him & I had him crouched! But he is the assassin class in the game. The DLC definitely gives you a nice feeling of something different & new with the differences in this playable character.
I got 2 days of gameplay out of this. Prolly a total of 8 hours. That was only playing thru once & not on the maximum difficult. So there is definitely some replay value. And I am almost fairly certain that there are multiple endings.
There are tons of new enemies as well & the DLC takes you to a new Location. BUUUUUUUUUUT the graphics aren’t that great already in Dishonored, but these weird glitches don’t help. Sometimes I would stop to look around the room cuz I thot hidden shit was flashing at me. Check out this clip.
Regardless that little glitching -like I said, it’s prolly just the Xbox- this DLC is worth it & it’s fun! Dishonored is fun! Check out my full review with Bullet Points.
Thanks for reading.

GoukiJones has been playing Bastion for the last few days. Challenged it and beat the crap out of it. Here are the notes from his time in the Wild.. as The Kid.
I’ve been taking notes sporadically the last few days, when I sat down to play the Bastion. It was about 3 sittings and according to those Jimmys over at Raptr, I spent at least 14 hours in the game. I played with Idols on as soon as I found them. I had 8 total and had them all on the last two levels. Although, I don’t think they made a difference on the last level. So here are the notes from the last few days and then I’ll get into some more details if you care to read on at that point.
And then he falls to his death.
Don’t worry the kid ain’t scared. He about to PWN everybody up in chere!
The poor kid collapses after just one drag.
I think there was just a reference to something illegal like fresh bowls. If you pop a poisonous flower, the screen gets all blurry and slowed. If you pop a second poisonous flower right after the first one the comical announcer says.
“That’s all you come to the grove for?”
Maybe I’m just out of it myself.
“Leave it to The Kid for time for stompin’ swamp weeds.”
The world map looks cools, but I wish you could zoom out or something to get a better look at the entire thing. It’s pretty sweet.
No matter what the comical announcer says, always spin the bull.
There’s these idols that are like the skulls in Halo. Turning them on adds difficulty, so far all of them (the two I have) give you a bonus to crystal gathering, which buys you upgrades. They make the enemies crazy fast, doesn’t matter to The Kid though, he still is the PWNnnst out in the Wild.
Spin the bull.
At this point I would say pick what weapons you want to use early on and stick with them. Keep maxing out their upgrades every time you stop in the Bastion. I’m using the machete and the musket. I destroyed the musket challenge the first time through. It was easy, you just gotta bunch ‘em all up Jimmy. I will say that the weapon leveling up and challenge of the game -especially with the idols on- gets better and better. I look forward to leveling up and moving on to the next stage.
Fuckin’ a restart with idols on. I ain’t no Jimmy.
This is my third time sitting down with Bastion now. The game is really starting to challenge me now. I have 6 of the 10 idols on and I’m PWNn! The Kid is fighting for his life out in the Wild.
Block. That’s my pro-tip for Bastion. Block. I’m level 5 now and two of the tonics I carry with me are for the shield. Half of the enemies will kill themselves with their own shots.
1: +100% Damage When Counter-Blocking with the Bullhead shield
2: +33% Speed While Defending
I now have 8 of the 10 Idols active for a bonus of 55% EXP. I don’t fuck around Jimmy, I PWN.
I just got the Calamity Canon in the game and something that I don’t like is, you have to pick up that new gun or new weapon any time you find one. This swaps out what you have equipped and even your tonic power if it is attached to the weapon. Now on some levels this happens and there is an armory close by so you can swap it out. I hated picking up that mortar gun, even if it was for only a second. I’m playing on super hard and as soon as I woke those sleeping birds the four of them fucked me up. Wait, I had a continue right? Yep, as soon as I stood up the birds swooped in for another gafflin’. Game over. Eventually I beat them. After I discovered block.
Calamity Canon swapped out for the Scrap Musket. Get Railed. I PWN close quarters.
Sitting down with Bastion now for the final PWNfest. I’ve had a few drinks at this point, ate a Philly cheese steak and watched two episodes of Hell’s Kitchen. Now it’s time to rail the rest of this Bastion with the idols Jimah!
I’m pretty sure I’m on my way to the last fight. Or stage. The story has been pretty good, I’m not one for watching cut scenes, but Bastion has an excellent way of telling you the story with people you meet that come back to your town(the Bastion.) I don’t intend to ruin anything for you. There’s a lot to the town as well, you can upgrade each of the buildings, which is cool. Simple things yes, but Bastion keeps it interesting around every corner with its simple RPG elements.
Right now before I go to the last stage, I’m doing all of the weapon challenges. 100% completion. I’ve only used the Musket and the Machete all the way through the game. I’m just not feeling the other weapons, there are a lot too. A cannon and a mortar, that I already mentioned. A rifle, bow and arrow, flame thrower. All very unique and would implement different gameplay strategies for how you play Bastion.
Need some more crystals Jimmy. I almost have all of my weapons maxed out. Do the challenges, you can get upgrade parts for other weapons. Make sure you have all of the idols on for max XP. Never mind that I got destroyed in there. Sad face. I’ll level up my weapons with what points I have left and will try to finish all of the challenges real quick. lol 100%.
I’m missing the first prize on the Gunslinger, the Hammer and the Spike challenges. The Spike challenge is a good one. Lets PWN this final boss. With that sad, there will be NO SPOILERS from here on out.
Once you enter this area, there is no turning back. Are you ready? - Spoiler Alert. Just kidding.
I might have just glitched the final boss. I clicked X to ride the sky way, but remembered there was a potion right there and tried to run over to grab it real quick. But the screen faded to black and I was standing up against the boss, instead of being on the ground the last two times I fought him. Now he’s just standing in the middle of the room, waiting for me stand up I guess. He's not moving, but his eyes follow me. Ha ha, the joke is on him. Anyway, not the final boss.
So yeah, he doesn't move or fight back. I just shotgun his grill right off the side. Seeyalater.
I have beaten the game. I have now unlocked ‘New Game Plus’ mode. Start over with all my XP and weapons. New idols and spirits added. Sweet. Use the Shrine for the Toughest Challenge?! You’re on buddy!
The notes stop there. Just a few things I want to mention about Bastion. Great music. I love the Zia’s song. The sound effects seem to struggle for some reason. I was clearly hitting things in front of me on the screen, but the sound was coming from the speakers behind me. That was strange.
Bastion is clever game and might just be worth your hard earned money. Do you like leveling up? Upgrading weapons? Or a second play through, challenge rooms? A deep story with a more than comical and sometimes serious narrator? Bastion has a tons of features. In the end, I really enjoyed this game. I would recommend you Buy it! I know there is nothing else you are playing right now. Infamous 2? Duke? C’mon.
Bastion kicks off Summer of Arcade and The Kid is liking the way things are going!

Yesterday Gouki checked out the new Hi Scores Bar-Arcade in Las Vegas, Nevada. Super friendly & polite staff. Craft beers & great food. 1 Street Fighter 2 Machine in a Street Fighter The Movie case. Big sad face there. No worries tho, plenty else to PWN!
Yeah I wanted to play Street Fighter The Movie the arcade. lol. BatRastered first tipped me off that that game would be available there. He must have just seen the cabinet. I had a ton of fun with SFTMta back in the day at Mary K's. Blowing up the helicopter in the background while fighting was an innovative milestone.
PrettyMiwa & I hung out for a while. I tried Paulener craft beer. It was okay, it was $6 bucks. Later on I had a bottled Virgi'ls Root Beer & that was really good. If you're a root beer fan, check it out. It was $3.25. For Lunch, PrettyMiwa got the Fish & Chips. Looked pretty standard to me. Some potato chips on the side. She said it was good & it was gone in the matter of moments. That was $12 bucks. I got the Flying Hawaiian & I had no idea what I was getting into. A spicy chicken sandwich with tons of Hawaiian sauce, some weird lettuce that Miwa said was Japanese. Of course it was. & Pineapple. It was really good. $10.00. All that with Miwa's ice tea was $36.48. Not bad, if I were in a drinking mood, it could have been over $50. I didn't try any of the special drinks. Not looking to get too railed in the middle of the afternoon anymore.
Gamers should go & check this place out. It's very welcoming. There wasn't super loud music playing constantly to where you wouldn't be able to enjoy the games. The GM Leif is also very friendly with local game clubs & is encouraging toward you having an event at Hi Scores Bar-Arcade.
I took some pictures as well. I'll include some ramblings with each 1.
There's girls there. I didn't get to talk to these 2 too much about video games, but they were very nice. Thanks for the picture girls. Our waitress however, I did get to grill about video games. She plays Sonic games on her PS3 & plays a lot of Wii. I don't know anybody still playing the bowling on Wii, but if you are. Rock on! You gotta be good as hell at that now.Read full story...

I lay my entire plan on the table for the four day phase 4 beta test of Final Fantasy XIV. This character will carry over, so it's full-on! My Goal: level 20 MRD. Level 20 GLD. Additional Job abilities. GC, FG & Bird. Get ready to rail Early Access.
Okay so here’s the plan …
I want to get to endgame as a Warrior ASAP after release. I don’t want to play MRD full time at end game tho. I just figure there are going to be a lot of nuabs playing & I need to be in a leader’s role or I’m gonna die a lot. Plus it’s easier for tanks to get into Duty Finder & I’m familiar with MRD, since I played that in the beta. With that said …
Let me just clarify a few things. I was in phase 3 of the beta, so I will get access to phase 4 of the beta this coming Friday. August 16, 2013. I’m expecting it to kick off the same time the other phases started around 2AM. Yes, I will plan accordingly that day to be awake at 2AM, PWNn!
If you have an invite to phase 4, you can start playing on Saturday. Phase 4 is open beta, but if you did not apply earlier for it, you will have to register on Saturday & wait for an email. I have no further details on this. Don’t be so late next time. Don’t be a Jimmy!
Phase 4 of the beta is capped at level 20. So you should be able to get to a Grand Company & get your Chocobo. All of that stuff isn’t hard to miss, it’s part of the main story. Once you beat Ifrit, you’ll know. Okay since we can only get to level 20, there’s going to be a lot of free time to do other things in the game. When I first played, I got to level 18 in less than 2 days. I was doing a lot running around & side quests. Not this time. Fuck side quests. I’ll run around as an Arcanist at the end of phase 4 & do Jimmy ass side quests, if I’m bored.
Main goal #1. Get to Level 15 -> Get an Airship pass. The moment I land in Gridania, I hoof it over to the Conjurer’s guild & get my CNJ up to level 2, maybe level 8 depending on how long I think it will take. The reason for this is, CNJ unlocks Cure at level 2 & Protect at level 8. Having Cure would be nice, it’ll save me GIL on potions & I’ll just have another way to heal myself in battle. Can’t rely on the nubfarm.
At this point I may stick around Gridania & get a couple of more abilities, just so I have them & later on I can test out with different builds. For example:
Feint - Level 2 Lancer: Delivers an attack with a potency of 120.
Additional Effect: Slow +20%
Keen Fury - Level 4 Lancer: Increases parry rate by 20%.
Straight Shot - Level 2 Archer: Delivers an attack with a potency of 140.
Additional Effect: Increases critical hit rate by 10%
Raging Strikes - Level 4 Archer: Increases damage dealt by 20%.
Then it’s time to get the fuck outta Gridania. I sure will miss all of those green trees. If you continue the main story quest you should be on your way to Ul’Dah now. I believe after you complete the story quests here it will be time for your first dungeon. Since you can only get to level 20, I don’t think there is a super rush to keep going with your main right now. I’ll stop & get 1 more subjob ability while I’m here.
Second Wind - Level 8 Pugilist: Instantly restores 25% of maximum HP.
Thaumaturge moves are pretty worthless for MRD at this point. So I’ll skip that class all together right now. Second Wind from the PUG is huge for the MRD, restore 25% of my HP instantly? Yes, I need that. While playing MRD during phase 3, I would drop to low health in party without warning & very fast. This could send the CNJ in your party into a panic mode & he may not be able to heal you fast enough. Having stuff like Second Wind, Cure, & Hi-potions on you are going to save your life & keep your entire party alive.
What about Gladiator? You need GLD to get to Warrior with your MRD Jimmy. I know, I know. But at this point (again because of the level 20 cap) I don’t know how big of a deal it is to rush this down. Maybe level him up quick to get Flash, but you don’t need that. You should know how to control hate during battles without needing that skil. Still tho, if I think there’s time, I’ll do it.
Now I’m gonna finish the current storyline with my main job. Get to level 20, beat Ifrit, get to a GC & get my bird. So my MRD is now level 20, now what? Now I go back to Ul’Dah & get my GLD to 20.
No crafting or gathering during phase 4 for me. I only want class levels. After I get my MRD & GLD maxed out, I’ll decide what I want to do. I’ll probably want to fool around with Arcanist. I really want to be a Bard endgame, I love everything I hear about that job. Plus, I’ve always liked playing Archer. In Final Fantasy XI I was a healer, so I’m not too excited about doing that right away in this game. White Mage style anyway, I want to see how the Arcanist is set up. I love pets!
If all of this stuff comes to light & I can complete it by the end of phase 4, I think I’ll be off to a good start. I really want to craft & gather, but if I don’t get to endgame (lvl50) early & with my FC, I’m going to get left behind & I’m not having that. Don’t be a Jimmy!
I will be on Malboro for the Final Fantasy XIV. I will have a Gouki LinkShell. I will be rolling with TAW.net as my Free Company.
