Exclusive Pictures & Report from the Sony PS Vita Miami Event

By: goukijones Jan 19, 2012 | 204 Views | 3 Comments

While in Miami this week, I got to check out the PlayStation Vita event on South Beach. The event runs for the next 30 days or so and you get a bite to eat while you check out the PS Vita - Hands on. Plus there's a raffle for some amazing stuff.

Sony don't send me fuck all about any of their events. Luckily I just happened to be in town when a friend of mine tipped me off to a PlayStation Vita event happening right here on South Beach. My only question ... "Do they have Ultimate?" The answer is no. Even though, I've already seen and played the Vita since way back at E3 and at PAX and at CES, I still figured I show go an check it out. I'll tell the story with pictures.

There were a lot of Jimmys there. The line stretched down the street. Sony Jimmys passed out some sweet PS Vita shirts to everyone in line. We arrived late of course. Gotta keep it gangsta. My buddy who tipped me off had already been and line and yes, I just cut in front of everyone behind him and acted like I belonged there. What are these PS fanboys going to do I thought. J/K :)

This nuab is showing me what he won in the raffle. A PS Vita can cooler. Later on these were scattered all over the room and anyone could just pick one up. He was thrilled though as you can see. Shout to ZNinja21.

The raffle was electronic and completely rigged obviously. No I don't know for reals. But we must have had 14 codes to enter between all of us and only collected that can cooler. Nubfarm!

I don't know what this place is during NON-PS Vita events, but they had some card tables and big soft chairs to sit in and try out the PS Vita. A ton of different games were available in different systems all over the room. There were plenty of PS Vita's to go around. (No Ultimate, I mentioned that right?)

I got my energy/tea drink or whatever they were passing out. They also had giant pizzas with tons of giants toppings, but I passed on that. Who serves greasy ass pizza during a hand held video game event. Sony? Disgustingness all over the place. I grabbed a seat and began my demo time. I didn't know WTF was going on.

I played the AR fighting game and this shouldn't be a surprise, but I had no idea how to control or exactly what to do. I'm still getting used the idea of having to move the system around to see what's happening. Sometimes the characters would walk out of view and well I didn't know what was going one.

I found the date and time stamp. WTF.

No clue what I'm doing in that picture above. I played some ModNation Racers, but I'd rather be playing some Mario Kart 7. I'm not interested in MNR at all anymore. The AR fighting game AKA Reality Fighters, looked pretty cool to be honest and isn't a bad idea, but I'm afraid this game may not get the attention it deserves. Not quite EVO material.

Uncharted 3 was there and that's the best thing going for the Vita right now. It may just sell a system to me.

The screen is huge and Uncharted looks just as good as it's PS3 brother.

Also set up was the PlayStation 3 3D TV display. I'm so undecided about this.

I fuckin' hate non-inverted controls and changing it to how I want always confuses me. Vertical inverted? Camera horizontal inverted? What do I want? Why isn't it just inverted or not. WTF Naughty dog?

Look at this Reh-tard in the glasses. 3D is still unacceptable.

As a special bonus there was just a camera machine set up to take pictures of you and your friends. Or just yourself if you're a loner.

Like I said, I don't know what the deal was with these cameras, but it was cool to get pictures to remember the event. Especially if you didn't have a cute Japanese girl with you taking pictures. Don't be a Jimmy.

Who wouldn’t cosplay?

OF course you would! Anime and video games find a good median of this arts. Anime Convention are your answer for this! While South Florida gets some of the best convention it can create with the fans, there’s a new one that is coming right around the corner. That is Florida Super Con(FLC)!

A convention usually cover Comic Book, anime, Video Games, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi. This one is no exception. From the broad range of Comic Book artist like, Jose Delbo, Tommy Castillo, and Jason Latour just to name a few.

FSC will have live musical performance from Less than Jake, Robbed by a Flute(personal favorite), S.S. Hanami and many more.

Also incredible appearance of the Soup Nazi this year! That’s right! The Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, Larry Thomas, also known for his role on, but not limited to, Austin Powers, Postal, A Fist Full of Quarters, Spaced Out, and The Warehouse job. Also, for a special guest appearance, the man with a badass name, Richard RoundTree! Also known as Shaft! Can YA dig it?
And one of my personal favorite guest, Yaya Han. With over nine years of cosplaying experience, you’ll look up to her skills and have the desire to cosplay yourself.

Each day will have multiple events such as FSC Karaoke, Cosplay meet up, anime viewing rooms, a MASSIVE exhibition room, photo shooting, video games, guest panel, and a whole ton more! I’m stoked, and you should too! See you there!

How are we going to mix Video games with Exxxotica, a pornstar convention?

Exxxotica Miami 2010 will take place May 14th-16th in Miami Beach Florida. This is the fifth anniversary for Exxxotica in Miami and will be held once again at the Miami Beach Convention. Gouki.com is looking forward to attending the show to see what these girls know about video games. Video games are huge and so is porn. I'm interested in finding out if these girls are playing any video games, Wii Fit? Halo: Reach? Super Street Fighter IV? Watch the video below for a taste of Exxxotica. I know you are asking yourselves 'which one of these girls do you think plays World of Warcraft?' Don't be a Jimmy. Look for our Exclusive video and pictures after the con.

Infinite Bits 2009 Review and Video

By: goukijones Nov 3, 2009 | 445 Views | 4 Comments

Infinite Bits is Miami's first ever video game convention. Check out my videos, pictures, and review.

Day 1

We arrived in the afternoon and obtained our press passes along side the Destructoid.com Jimmys. The convention was pretty slow at this point the video game nerdom had not arrived, most were probably still in school. We cruised through the vendors area which was small, but had a very nice selection. A lot of old school games and consoles. Imports too and one guy had a bunch of material from the Tokyo Game Show so that was a little treat for me. Checked out the rest of the show which was about the size of the Nintendo booth at E3. The interactive gaming museum was cool. I saw my first ever console the Intellivision that was awesome! What I loved about this area was all the TV's matched that era of the console, I have seen such old ass TV's in a long time. My first gaming TV was black and white and you turn the clicker to change the channel.

Day 2

This was the highlight day for me. All the major tournaments were going down. The only issue I had with this was it seemed that nobody cared how they were being handled. It seemed that two different groups were doing the tournaments. There were no announcements over the loud speaker of when or where a tournament was starting or that the finals were taking place. The finals should have been on the main stage or on a big screen for everyone to see! This is a video game show and this was not a highlight?! Wtf? The music on the main stage was so loud the Jimmys playing in the Gears of War 2 tournament couldn't even communicate with each other. I was annoyed as fuck during all of this. I just wanted to enjoy some pwnn ass gaming. The Street Fighter IV tournament was on 1 TV and took almost 5 hours for them to run through 18-20 Jimmys. Infinite Bits should have recognized the tournaments more and took it serious. Five years from now at Infinite Bits 2014 they should be talking about who won the tournaments in the previous years. Not trying to remember what fly by night band was playing horrible music.

Day 3

This was a snoozer. Nobody was there and I ended up spending more time at the bar. I brought a professional Madden player in to compete in the Madden tournament. The entire way to the convention he was bitching at me, why I was dragging him there on Sunday when the Dolphins play at 1:00pm. Well I didn't put two and two together until I got there and nobody was there and the Madden tournament was cancelled. Why?! Because it was a football Sunday in a football town the team played at 1:00pm. That was bad planning.

Overall Saturday was the best day. I think the convention was pretty good for the first one in Miami and for the hosts trying to do something different. More publicity was needed, every time I talk to a gamer I ask if they were at or heard of Infinite Bits and nobody knew. You gotta hit up these schools especially the ones within walking distance of the show. CampGamestops and post fliers. The website hasn't even been updated since the show. No pictures or videos, nothing. I wish the tournaments got more exposure and the music wasn't so loud. I'm looking forward to Infinite Bits 2010. Don't be a Jimmy! Check out my video and the other videos on Gouki.com from Infinite Bits 2009.
