FFXIV: ARR is too popular; Square suspends sales

By: BatRastered Aug 28, 2013 | 79 Views | 2 Comments

The world is full! Now you can get a 1017 error when trying to purchase the game.

Straight from Square-Enix:

"Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, we are currently experiencing extremely long wait times for users to be able to log in and play. As a temporary measure, we will halt sales of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A REALM REBORN’s digital download products so we can accommodate all of those wishing to play. We are working to expand our server capacity in the coming days."

Well, that's interesting... looks like they've sold more copies than they can handle on the server side. I'm glad they're doing this so all of the pre-orders can hopefully get in and play until they work this out enough to continue selling.

Marvel fans get ready for your MMO.

By: dragonkiss83 May 31, 2012 | 203 Views | 2 Comments

I heard about it last year, still no release date, but we have some screens.

Last year I heard there was a Marvel MMO coming out eventually thanks to Gamasutra and got hype with almost no details.

Check this link if you want to see round 1 http://gouki.com/Story/Details/marvel-universe-mmo-will-be-free-to-play

Here is a look at alt. costumes from the Hulk (Planet Hulk) and Spider-man.

Oh look what is that almost dead center on the screen?  Deadpool!  Kind of hard to tell with the others but at the bottom that looks a lot like Northstar or even Quiksilver.  And it could just be wishful thinking, but the guy to the far left in the line with Deadpool looks Gambit like to me.  (check the source link for the screen shot, it doesn't want to cooperate here)

And no surprise there is Spider-man.

And a Hawkeye teaser from the facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/marvelheroes

With a quick look Emma Frost (White Queen), Storm, Colossus, Black Widow, Ms. Marvel, Cyclops, Thor, Captain America, Thing, Wolverine, Iron Man, and I even saw Magneto playable in the video.

So already my hype is building back up.  And E3 is so close maybe we'll see some more. Maybe a special request to check it Goukijones?

They say they are using the Unreal 3 engine. Not exactly cutting edge, but not the worse choice out there.

We will be playing as major Marvel characters, but we will be able to customize them based on their various costumes. They are including Squirrel Girl and Cable, so they are reaching into the reseres instead of just an Avenger like line up. Randomly generated environments are not my favorite, but I can overlook that.  They'll be Savage  Land, Hell's Kitchen (guess we'll see Daredevil), Midtown Manhattan, the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning  and Mutant Town.

Brian Michael Bendis is officailly on as the writer. So that is comforting, they could have tried to put any clown in the driver seat.

And with Gazillion Entertainment behind it they have the experience of Diablo and Diablo 2 behind them.  Not feeling as half-assed as I feared in the beginning.

And here is there official page http://www.marvelheroes.com/

Let's not forget the reveal trailer.

My source this time around was http://nerdreactor.com/2012/05/22/marvel-heroes-freetoplay-mmo-announced/

So there you have it.  Vote, Share, Comment, and don't be a jimmy!

Bethesda to get the full on RIGHTS to Fallout. MMO time

By: goukijones Jan 9, 2012 | 154 Views | 1 Comments

It might not be until 2013 or something, but Bethesda may have begun or is just getting started on a Fallout MMO. Read this press release about the lawsuit.

This just came over from Bethesda and I thought you Jimmys might like to read it. This letter is pretty interesting, it describes a lot of the lawsuit and turmoil over a Fallout MMO. Good news is that Bethesda owns ALL of the rights now and they can make one if they want.

Bioware Sends Out Weekend Beta Invites

By: jalexbrown Nov 10, 2011 | 93 Views | 12 Comments

With just a little over a month until release, Bioware is sending out invites for a weekend beta test - apparently a lot, too!

If you've registered with the Star Wars: The Old Republic site and said you want to be a beta tester, now would be a great time to check your inbox.  Bioware has been sending out beta invites over the last few days that will be good this weekend, November 11-13.  I got one, and a friend of mine also got one.  What are the odds if it's not a massive test?  It's mostly likely a stress test to see how the servers handle a higher load.  The game will be running off the East Coast servers and will only be available to US citizens.  (I'm not sure if you have to live in the Eastern Standard Time zone to qualify...if you've received an invite and you're in another time zone, let me know.)
