Community My 2010 Gaming Resolutions

Peek inside to see what sort of gaming resolutions I've set for 2010 (and fear not, there's no cheesy 1900x1200 jokes in here).

Is it really 2010 already?  I can't believe another whole year flew by with me failing to make a single resolution; I guess I can look on the bright side: if I didn't make any resolutions, I kept all of them.  So I decided that for 2010, I'm going to make a few resolutions, but being the gamer that I am, I decided to make all my resolutions gaming-related.

My first resolution is simple: pick up Final Fantasy XIII on day one.  I've been excited for this game since the day I picked up Final Fantasy XII for the PS2, because - and let's be honest here - we can always rest assured there will be another Final Fantasy.  This is really the series that single-handedly got me back into gaming after a period of absence from the hobby, and since then I've always hyped up the next Final Fantasy release.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, did I mention that another goal of mine is to go another year without playing an MMO.  I did World of Warcraft for a bit in '08, but I quit in '09; it wasn't a resolution of mine, or even a goal...I just got bored with it.  But in the time that I've spent away from World of Warcraft, I've realized that I want to avoid any MMO game like the plague.  I lost too much of '08 to World of Warcraft, so here's to another year of keeping my life in tact.  (I guess a few people are wondering what connection this has to Final Fantasy; do a quick little Google for Final Fantasy XIV if you still don't know.)

My other resolution for this year is to actually beat some of the games I buy.  Last year was a great year for me in terms of buying games, but it was a horrible year for me in terms of playing them.  Why does it seem that I have shelves lined with games that I haven't even started yet?  Aside from my obligatory purchase of Final Fantasy XIII (and maybe Mass Effect 2...it looks very promising), I'm setting a goal for 2010 to not buy any games until I've beaten some of my backlog of games.  Maybe I'll finally get around to playing some of those PS1 games this year if I hold out on buying any more games for a while.

So there you have it, folks: my 2010 gaming resolutions.  I made it through this whole article without cracking a single joke about 1900x1200, a little bit surprising if I do say so myself.  In any case, I think that 2010 may be my best year in a while in terms of gaming.  I'm getting a new Final Fantasy, I'm getting to keep my social life - assuming that the new Final Fantasy doesn't eat it away for a while - and I'm going to complete a bunch of games that I haven't even gotten around to playing yet.  I hope everyone has some great resolutions for 2010 - feel free to discuss them below - and I hope that everyone is able to stick to them until January 1 of 2011 rolls around.  In the meantime, I guess there's only one thing I can say:

Happy 2010 to all the readers of Gouki!
