Multiplayer has been announced for Batman: Arkham Origins 3 vs. 3 vs. 2.
From the description:
"An epic online showdown where every match is different. Think you can take down criminals on your own? Show them what you've got as Batman or Robin.
Want to rule the Gotham gangland and take out the Boy Wonder or Dark Knight along the way? Defend your turf and fight as elite members of The Joker or Bane gang. Don't worry, when things get dire for your gang squad, players can call in the ultimate reinforcement by summoning - and playing as -The Joker or Bane. This mode will be available at launch on October 25th."
Oh cool, Batman: Arkham Origins has multiplayer! I wasn't too excited for this game because Rocksteady (makers of the first two games in the series) wasn't making it... but now... We can roam through the city together and... wait. The multiplayer isn't connected to the game in any way, and is being made by a separate third party studio. Hey remember Splash Damage? You know, the guys who brought us that god-awful Brink mess? Well now they're making the multiplayer for Arkham Origins. Two teams of 3 players are playing what looks like a third person shooter while 2 other players get Batman and Robin.
It's hard for me to pass on a Batman game using Rocksteady's engine, but this screams rental to me. Play it, beat it, return it. That's probably why WB insisted on squezing some MP in there and just had another studio do it. Lame.
