Community Guitar Hero gets the Axe Update

Just another casualty to todays economy

Do you look forward to all the Guitar Hero releases?  Sorry to break it to you but Activision has closed the studio that makes them and has confirmed that the 2011 game has been scrapped.  We have all played with one of those plastic guitars, some less sober than others, but now we have lost the series that started the trend.

And if you were looking forward to True Crime: Hong Kong I've got more bad news for you.  I'm just hoping that the trend for minimizing doesn't go on much longer because it seems that we are loosing lots of well know titles in favor of what?

here's the link if you want more info. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/09/report-activision-axing-guitar-hero-and-true-crime-freestyle-g/?icid=maing%7Cmain5%7Cdl9%7Csec1_lnk3%7C42713

Well they are making Rocksmith now, it's to be geared towards real play instead of a party atmosphere.  Way to piss off smoe fans.

Either way, Guitar Hero will be back.

Maybe somebody realized that releasing the same game every year isn't a bright idea. Hence Madden or COD and maybe even Halo now. sad face.

Thanks for posting.

Good Riddens.

and Goukijones is right, its ridiculous how repititious this shit is, barely add anything new and people STILL BUY IT...

P.S True Crime Streets of L.A was the best one, and the first one.

Wow, the better choices Activision has in mind are games like Family Guy. TV and movie focus, aren't you relieved that they aren't going to stop making crappy games based on names people will buy.

Also I guess there is a good chance we'll see Giutar Hero again, hell we're getting Duke Nukem so I guess anything is possible.

Guitar hero flooded the market and made their games worse and worse. I'm glad they're gone even if it's not for good.

The second one was my favorite, followed by GH: Metallica. Rock Band guitars feel weird for me and they never were able to pull off Hammer-Ons or Pull-Offs as nicely as Guitar Hero did. But i will agree that Guitar Hero had truly lost it's shine when Harmonix sold it to Craptivision :(

I'll admit that I never got into playing the Guitar Hero series or the True Crimes series. I did play Rick Band which I'm assuming is from the same company, which was fun due to having other people join in like if it was a party. Those were fun. It's sad though to see the gaming side go down the drain which makes me think if the other companies are looking at this and learningfrom it so they won't make the same mistakes. I guess we'll have to wait and find out.

Aragrist

Guitar Hero didn't need sequels just updated playlist via download. Same with all but the last Rock Band. The last Rock Band introduced real instrument modes where you play real guitars, keyboards and drums. That deserves an actual sequel number and a new release of software and hardware.

@ Aragrist- exactly! It made no sense to release the same game over again just with different songs, many from the same bands! Actual different instruments should have been the only sequel.

It'll come back. The music general series will always come back! Just wait a couple of years... Damn Activision for milking it to the grave..

i liked the guitar hero games, it was a different kind of game, But it has passed it's prime because they could not come up with anything new.

So they say they'll keep the online play up, but we have seen the last new dlc. I guess I'll have to pick up Rockband 3 again.

DragonKiss83

And now they have more DLC on the way again, nothing like making your own demand for a game.

I'm sure everyone will rush out to get this, what a freaking scam.

They are basically just changing the name to the game to add Pro Mode. Bunch of jimmys.
