Every family has their own methods for arriving at closer bonds. But in a personal story about my own, I show you how video games and their diversity brought my family closer :)

It started one day when I was 4, my aunt decided to buy me my first Nintendo. Although my father worried if I wouldn't be atheletic enough by playing video games, he allowed it anyway. From that day on I played for all of my life, and as the systems grew more advanced, my younger brothers began to notice video games as well. I have 5 brothers. I myself found to like fighting games and shooters along with adventure games to be my main genres of play. 2 of my other brothers along with my dad, were drawn to sports games such as Madden Football and Fifa Soccer. My youngest brothers found tastes in Mario and Sonic, while becoming drawn to the Halo franchise and shooters. My middle brother found similar tastes to me but in addition found great affinity for the Resident Evil series, even becoming an artist in the process and being able to create his own unique undead. As time passed, even my mother found interests in simply watching us play, said that some of the video games we played were like watching a movie, and sometimes she would just sit down to watch us play :D

With more games arriving to the house, we found games that brought us to play together such as the Left 4 Dead series, Mario Party, Halo of course, and games that found new online multiplayer such as Assasin's Creed Brother Hood, and Dead Space 2. Eventually, we decided to try each other's genres and my brothers became good at fighting games such as Super Street Fighter 4 and Mortal Kombat 9. As such, because of the variety, we were all able to share different experiences with one another which in turn brought us closer.  Sometimes the one way to end an arguement was to hit the consoles and settle the score! Video games only brought us closer as newer releases and sequels of our favorite games were released. We could finish the stories of our experience and bring them to an epic conclusion of bittersweet goodbyes when we finally defeated the stories of our games.

Other video games kept us coming back for more, mostly fighting games and shooters. Within my family sometimes we would host tournaments. One of my most fondest memories was when we first got Street Fighter 4. We competed for the Ryu headband you could aquire after you pre-ordered the game at Gamestop. In a family of 8, it was a funny tournament. We fought each other barely knowing the game, learning the game's mechanics as the tournament progressed. I played as Sagat after having learned before hand online that he had a distinct advantage ;D But before long, my middle brother who had always fought against me in fighting games came to understand my fighting style and nearly eliminated me out of the tournament. In final match of the tournament, it came down to just him and I. I knew I had no choice but to switch as he knew my Sagat too well. It was now Ryu vs Ryu. In a stunning conclusion, I was able to defeat him with a strong mix up game.  And as music from 300 played in the backround, the headband was tied around my head as I rose, King Of Street Fighter 4 in my family XDXDXD

It was one of my fondest memories. Eventually each of my brothers and family members found their own victories online and against friends. In conclusion, while I find life to have many grand aspects in general, I too find video games to be one of the most inspiring creations to date, helping individuals to find confidence in themselves and even develop their own personalities as they achieve at the many tasks and fun filled environments video games have to offer. To the video game industry, I say Thank You :DDD
