New Gouki.com site features

Here's the low down on the new story creation flow if you want to post stories on Gouki.com.

First of all, you still need to read the FAQ. Get your tags right, make an interesting title that describes what's going on in the story, and mostly don't be a Jimmy.

When you go to create a story, you'll now be presented with some preset options for story type: Blog, Review, Preview, News, Deals, or Video. Choose the one that most represents the story you are writing. Choose "Blog" if you story doesn't fit into any of the others. If you choose Review, you'll be presented with an additional drop down box to fill out with your final review score (Buy It, Rent It, or Flush It). Choose one, don't be a Jimmy and tell me how much you hate a game and then tell me it's "rentable", pick the one that you truly feel is right.

If you want to save your story but don't want to publish it yet, perhaps because you've got to take a shit or something, you can do that now. Hit the "Save & continue editing" button. Your story will be saved (assuming there are no errors, you still have to fill out the basics first as it won't save a blank story) but not shown to anyone. To find it again if you've navigated away, click the stories tab and follow the "View my New stories" link on the top right hand side.

Once you're ready to show the world your masterpiece, click the "Save & Publish" button. Your story will be sent to the pending queue, also accessible from the right side of the stories page. Only registered users of the site will be able to see the pending queue so your story is not quite public yet. The moderators will approve your story and send it to the front page if it meets all the criteria in the FAQ (you've read that, right?). Otherwise, your story may end up in the failed stories list (again, you can click the link at the top right of the stories page). Failed stories will be deleted after a few days, but you can visit that page for examples of what not to do. We'll do our best to help you get your story from pending to approved, but if it's junk or spam or just to hard to fix, it will end up in the failed list, so make sure you've read that FAQ.

Now that your story is on the front page where it belongs, you'll notice that the story type now precedes the title along with the word "Community". This is to distinguish content written by the staff of Gouki.com from the content created by the users.

We've also streamlined the catalog pages a bit, hopefully people will notice the hype and rating vote system a bit more.

There are more changes to come, feel free to leave comments and suggestions here. We're always looking to improve the site.
