Red Dead Redemption Review

I finally beat it, have you seen my horse's ass?

Red Dead Redemption is a great game... There are already enough GTA on horseback references out there, so you probably know what you're getting into. But the game is so much more than that. The gunplay in RDR is way smoother than GTA, and not just because of the dead-eye system (a sort of bullet time effect that slows down time and allows you to mark targets to hit). I love all the guns in this game and the cover system works great.

The voice acting is superb and all the cutscenes are worth watching as they are not just well voiced, but well scripted and well animated. This would make a great movie, but it makes an even better video game.

It took me about 20 hours to beat it, and I did very little in the way of side-missions. So you will definitely get your money's worth here. Of course, you should still check our latest deals to see if you can get it cheaper... Just sayin'. As if that wasn't enough, you get an awesome multiplayer experience as well. In the free-roam mode, you and up to 15 other jimmies can just roam around the game world and do whatever... kill each other, posse up and take down some bandits, commit various crimes and run from the law. It's great. Plus there was a recent DLC that added some multiplayer missions that you and some friends can do together... Some of these are real tough, lots of bandits triying to kill you. I've put another 10+ hours into the multiplayer and I feel I've barely scratched the surface.

Verdict: This is an early contender for game of the year... BUY IT
