Batman beat-em up game FTW!!
We only got a few minutes to play the game. Adam from developer WayForward[too far forward, for FNJImmy] was there to help us out. The game is a simple beat-em up like classic Ninja Turtles games. Batman and depending on the level/stage, Batman’s partner will be different. Theres TONS of weapons and gadgets and power-ups. You can throw each other into bad guys, you can throw bad guys and then catch and pwn them from your partner.
Here’s where it gets crazy, Adam pulls out a Nintendo DS and drops into the game on the fly with Bat-mite. First he starts healing and helping Jimmy and I, then he starts dropping classic Warner Bros. Acme anvils and 1 ton blocks onto our domes. So Bat-mite can be played as helpful or annoying. Cool ad on and the fact that he can just drop in and out is really cool. Also when you’re playing single player, second player can also jump in and out on the fly. Gotta pee, like FNJimmy piss pants? Drop out real quick and let the computer play. Hell I’ll probably have a better chance. Enough of this, watch the video featuring FNJimmy.
I get like 47 seconds with Josh Sawyer, before we're told to stop filming. Don't worry I'll tell you more about our conversation.
Fallout New Vegas looks just like Fallout 3, so graphics aren't the issue here. Controls felt the same to me; it was very easy to jump back into it. Josh Sawyer is the game’s Project Director and he was there to answer all of my questions and walk me through a quick experience in Fallout New Vegas. As I grab the controller I start to punch and fight the first guy I see. I didn’t know that I was in a casino at this point and I had no weapons. I was raiped by security and was quickly dead. Josh sighed and told me to hit load, we have to start all over again. So here we go from the beginning of the press demo.
The game loads up just in-side Las Vegas on the strip. Doesn’t look anything like the Vegas I know, but I understand that 200 years in the future it should look completely different. They’re always blowing shit up in Las Vegas. I can’t remember clearly what happened next, I began to walk around the city and I saw someone I wanted to punch again. Before Josh could stop me I had already decked the Ceaser’s Legion security guard and then I died again. Ok, push start and load the last game. Josh at this point wanted to strangle me for sure.
Now we head right over to the casino, so he could show me the gambling. Table games and slot machines and if you win too much, the casino will boot you out. Cool. Now I want to go shoot some Jimmys.
So we load up a mission. Typical Fallout 3 mission style. Go talk to this Jimmy, go to this spot, go find this Jimmy, go shoot these Jimmys, pick up the thing, return the thing, talk to the Jimmy that originally gave you the mission and mission complete. Here’s a 10 minute hands on demo of Brink with one of the developers walking me through.
Brink was one of the games I was looking forward most to seeing at E3. Bethesda was one of the first booths we hit up. At the time by the way, I had no idea how big of a deal Rage was. I didn’t get to see Rage and I don’t care too much. The videos I have seen make it look like a different style of Borderlands.
I want to see Brink!! We rolled right up to a free TV to play and Ed Stern was there ready to tell us everything about the game. Ed was totally cool and knew everything about the game; I was really impressed with his knowledge and his ability to talk. Ed explains the character creation in the first part of the video and then we jump into the combat. This is where I start to get away from Ed, at this point I’m ready to pwn.
Out in the field I switch to inverted controls immediately. As I’m exiting out of the menus, Ed is telling me that I can switch my buttons at any time. Watch for that part in the video. Ed is cool though, I can’t keep up with what he is saying to me, I just wanna shoot Jimmys. I got a shotgun and start lighting Jimmys up and well, I’ll let the video speak for its self. Watch it. Goukijones and I paid a visit to Valve’s meeting room at E3 to take a peek at Portal 2. The game was not playable, it was demoed as a Blu-ray video, so don't expect this to be released anytime soon. Valve has only said "some time in 2011".
Valve showed us several new pieces of Aperture Science equipment:
- Excursion Funnels are liquid tunnels that can carry you or any cubes you may need either horizontally or vertically and can be redirected through a portal.
- Aerial Fiath Plates are sections that launch you (or a storage cube) across the room in a certain direction.
- The Thermal Discouragement Beam is a laser that can either take out a turret or activate certain switches, it can be redirected through a portal or with a Weighted Pivot Cube (basically a mirrored storage cube).
- Pneumatic Diversity Vent is a tube that sucks up anything underneath it, you can as expected drop a portal underneath and use the other end of the portal to remove any obstacles in your way.
- Propulsion Gel is an orange goo that, when spread on the floor, allows you to travel much faster than usual.
- Repulsion Gel is a blue goo that you will bounce off of (much higher than a jump).
There were some funny notes in the instructional slides shown before the demos of the different equipment. You can see that the humor of the original game is very much present in the sequel, even at this early stage. Here's the text in case you can't read it in the youtube video.
Excursion Funnels – are part of an investigation into how well test subjects can solve problems while travelling through a churning funnel of liquid asbestos. Results so far have been highly informative: They cannot.
Aerial Faith Plate – are part of a larger trust experiment designed to help the enrichment center discover whether the capacity for trust is effected by being catapulted into space.
Propulsion Gel – Designed as a diet aid and marketed under the name “Propulsion Pudding”, this sweet, largely non-toxic liquid form of fiberglass insulation increased the velocity of any food that followed it through the digestive tract, leaving the body no time to absorb calories. Propulsion Pudding was pulled from the shelves when it was discovered that digestion plays several crucial roles in the eating process, such as breaking down food into small, manageable chunks before it is violently expelled from the human body.
Repulsion Gel – Apeture’s second attempt at a dietetic pudding substitute resulted in Repulsion Gel, a much sweeter, slightly less non-toxic form of fiberglass insulation that caused subsequently ingested food items to bounce off the lining of the dieter’s distended stomach and out his or her mouth. For various reasons, this was also pulled from the shelves.
Super Street Fighter IV has competition again Mortal Kombat is back. People will be playing this in tournaments.
First stop of day 2 E3 2010 was the Mortal Kombat demonstration in the Warner Bros. booth. We had to wait for the first rack of nuabs to finish, because we were a little late.
As we enter the private room I noticed t-shirts draped over the chairs. Bonus!! A bad ass exclusive Mortal Kombat t-shirt, with an exposed rib cage and it says Finish Him on the back. Anyway, then I realized that the Jimmy in the front of the room was, Ed frickin Boon man! The demonstration was hosted by Ed Boon, the series creator. On the a giant projector screen Sub-Zero and Scorpion were highlighted on the character select. Right away this felt like Mortal Kombat II to me.
My boy, Ed talks about how Mortal Kombat is going back to its roots and that’s why the game name is just Mortal Kombat. Sub-Zero and Scorpion begin to fight and it looks incredible. The level was the Living Forest from Mortal Kombat II, you could see snakes and bugs crawling through the dead bodies in the back ground. Wait this super detailed and bad ass fight against two of the worlds most well know ninja lookin’ dudes. Scorpion has his chain spike … “Get over here!” Sub-Zero has his classic ice ball. Scorpion can teleport and when he does he leaves behind a cloud of smoke that looks almost just like him. Sub-Zero shoots ice at the ground, but Scorpion doesn’t slip. His foot is stuck in the ice, Sub-Zero walks up and uppercuts him in the GARILL! The fight continues and Scorpion wins … Finish Him. The testers could not pull off the fatality. NUBFARM!
Then we switched it up to the new tag team system. You get two guys and I get two guys. You can call in for assists or you can swap out at any time. The combat is totally in-depth, tons of combos and juggles. Juggle in and out with your partner. There’s a super bar kind of, it can be used for EX type moves that are larger and do more damage. Combo breaker in case you are getting your ass kicked. Oh and the max super … does like a mini fatality during the match that cuts away to bones breaking punches, sword cutting action and well just blood spilling everywhere. BatRastered says like CSI when they do the special effects, but who watches CSI? Remember that Jet Li movie with the slow motion bone breaking like wire frame or whatever … never mind. This new Mortal Kombat is amazing.
A couple of other details are that there were 26 character slots, a random slot, and a DLC slot. They didn’t take any questions, I’m sorry I don’t know if there will be DLC characters. That DLC slot made me think there might be. The title screen was Sub-Zero punching the shit out of Scorpion or vice versa, I don’t know I don’t remember, I had a few sips of whiskey already at this point and I’m having one actually right now while I’m writing this. Wait …. Watch this video.

Games I seen at E3 on Day 2.
Yes, today was excellent on day #2, first thing we did was see the demo of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon talking about the game while 2 jimmyas play it, as the demo was going down I was thinking finally Street Fighter is definely going to have some competition again after what a decade. Still seeing the new X-ray supers we're you see the inside of the fighter who is getting their necks broken and bones breaking looks incredible and the fatalities are going to be amazing, yes it's Kombat time again.
After that it got even better I went to the Nintendo Booth to see the new Nintendo 3DS, first the line was pretty long but only took 30 mins. or so, then I said to myself I just got myself a DS Lite so how special is this model is going to be. Very special I tell you I was wondering why the Wii was doing so bad they focus everything on the 3DS not only do not need any kind of glasses the pictures you take on the 3DS also becomes 3D and there is a slider that adjustes the deapth of the 3D image, oh and by the way it also has totally new and better graphics like the new Resident Evil: Revelations it takes place around RE5 with no difference in graphics, it also looks like they will make a Zelda game with the Twillight Princess graphics look out PSP and Iphone Nintendo is hitting hard with 3DS. They also have it more than 3 colors hopfully they will have it. It comes in blue, black, red, purple, and orange no release date yet so I will keep looking.
By the end of it me and Gouki went to the Spiderman: Shattered Dimension conference and all they had was just the developer telling how the game played and the 3 dimensions that was already on it we tried but he would not release the 4th dimension to us until Comic Con in July. It looks cool and game play looks fair, but well see later when the game is finish. Tomorrow the final day of E3 well tried to wrap it up with the rest of the games until then peace out.
This story is about me playing WWE Stars at E3 2010
Ok today I tried out WWE All Stars over at E3 and it is still in production so all they had is John Cena and The Rock, now when there finished it will have a lot of wrestlers from what I believe is from the 2000's, 90's and 80's. Some people hate it so far but u got to understand like I said before it is still in the works but to me it's going to be good for what it is. The fighting is basic and easy to pick up I did not know what I was doing but I figured it out as I played the game. I'm thinking that the announcers will say different things over and over again. And I'm hoping they get the crowd to interact in some way. Now I agree that the animation looks retarded but it still be fun as hell.
A couple of jimmys got a behind closed doors demo of 2K's new squad based 3rd person shooter...
Spec Ops: The Line was demoed for us today, here's some initial thoughts.
The game takes place in near-future Dubai that has been covered meters deep in sand and nearly abandoned. The unique setting provides some great opportunities for spectacular level design. We only saw half a level, so I can't say if the game will live up to that promise, but the visuals I did see were quite good especially considering that this was a very early build (The Line is scheduled for a 2011 release). With the arterial spatter and the corpses being devoured by crows, this is an M-rated title for sure.
The sand plays an important role, as it allows you to use the environment to your advantage, either by destroying a wall and dumping tons of sand (tons!) on your enemies or blowing up a window allowing sand into the building you are trying to find a way out of and using said sand as stairs.
You play as the captain and roll with two jimmys beside you that you can issue commands to, but the AI seems to do pretty well on its own already. This is where the biggest dissapointment came in; even though this is a squad based shooter, there will be no co-op in the campaign. (Though there will be a separate co-op "experience" that the developers were not ready to take the wraps off of yet.) Seriously though, I know not every game can be co-op through the story, but a squad based shooter is just such a natural fit for that, I guess I just expect it now and am dissapointed when I don't see it.
Stay tuned as this game gets closer to release, I see some potential here if the multiplayer comes through.

Naruto Ultimate Storm... It's a mouth full alright.
E3 2010 is going with the anime style hard with Naruto.
Developer CyberConnect2 and publisher Namco Bandai Games are going ALL out in this sequel!
The story line starts with naruto coming back fromhis three year training with Jiraiya and ends with Pane.
The biggest selling point will be online mutilplayer on both, the 360, and PS3. They did not mention voice chat or DLC at the time, but lets hope for a balance fighter and deep combat!

Sengoku Basara 3 is CAPCOM answer to Tecmo Koei's Dynasty Warrior. It is an hack-and-slach game published and developer from CAPCOM.
The gameplay in the demo built was a little above normal. There are a few attacks, light, heavy, and the destroy button. It's when you pound enough guys and destroy half of Japan, you get an attack that whipes the rest of the field.
The game doesn't have online but will be released late this hoilday season, early spring for thr Playstaion 3 and Nintendo Wii.

Sony, Sony, Sony...whatever would we do without you?
Okay, so I'm going to jump right into it: Killzone 3. There was a demo of Killzone 3 that literally blew my mind. I enjoyed Killzone 2 immensely, and Killzone 3 just looks so much better - amazing. Sony was also really pushing the fact that Killzone 3 would have native 3D support and native Move support. Rather or not I care about either is still up in the air, but you can't deny that it's a great incentive and great features for the people that are demanding it. Killzone 3 will be released in February of 2011.
Sony talked about a few other games that would have native 3D support, including Mortal Kombat, Sly Collection, and Gran Turismo 5. Sony is really spending a lot of energy to push the 3D support on people, and I really believe that 3D is part of the future of Sony's business strategy.
Sony talked about the Move, including the release date and pricing. Sony Move will officially be released in the US on September 19, 2010. The controllers alone will retail for $49.99 for the controller plus $29.99 for the navigator controller. There will also be a bundle including a Move-based sports game for $99.99; the hundred dollar bundle will be packed in with a PS3 for $399.99.
Sony showed off a few Move-based games, but it wasn't as much of a focus as I expected. The first game they showed was Sorcery, which looked like it could be quite an interesting premise if it's executed as well as it looked on the stage. The move controller functionality looked really good and responsive. The game had sort of a darker Harry Potter feel to it, but at the same time it really did look like it could be a lot of fun to play. Sorcery will come out in the spring of 2011.
Next up EA showed off Tiger Woods 2011 using the Move. It looks like a more accurate version of the Wii, which I guess is good if you're in the mood for that sort of thing. The thing that I noticed that I thought was a big deal was that there was a lot of lag between the swing and the game responding to it. I wasn't quite impressed by the technology here, but it's still early, and I'm sure it'll be fixed. The Move support will be released via a downloadable update in the fall of 2010.
Next Sony showed a trailer for Heroes on the Move. This game is like an amazing mash-up of Sony's best platforming properties: Sly Cooper and Bentley, Jak and Daxter, and Rathet and Clank. The trailer looks like this could be an awesome platforming experience mashing up Sony's best-known mascots. I am pretty sure - as the name seems to imply - that this game will be fully Move-optimized, although support for traditional play is apparently unknown at this point.
Next there was God of War: Ghosts of Sparta. This looks like it will be a much-improved version of Chains of Olympus - which was in itself quite a good game. I'm pretty pumped about this game for two reasons. One: because it's nice to have a PSP game I can be excited about; two: because it looks like it's pushing the PSP to its limits. I think this will be an amazing game when it comes out in fall of 2010.

I come back in time to catch Sony talking about Little Big Planet 2. As you probably know, Little Big Planet built a great foundation and then allowed the players to build most of the experience. I have a small problem with this style of game philosophy in that most of us just aren't game designers. But for those of us that are, Media Molecule is claiming that you can now create games from different genres instead of just making platforming levels. The trailer for the game looks like there is tons of creativity going into this game, and even the levels in the box appear to be varied and unique and fun.
Sony then had Electronic Arts talk about some content on a couple upcoming games that will be exclusive to the Playstation 3. Medal of Honor will come complete with a remastered, high def version of Medal of Honor Frontlines; Dead Space 2 will come with a Move-optimized version of Dead Space Extraction. Additionally Sony announced that other games like Mafia 2 and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will also have Playstation 3 exclusive content.
And who would come on stage? Gabe Newell. Yes, that's right; Gabe Newell - the guy that talked all kinds of trash about the Playstation 3 a while back. He came out to announce that Portal 2 will come to the Playstation 3 on top of the previously known platforms. Then they showed a trailer for Portal 2 that I thought was amazing. I really want this game to come out. The game will come out sometime in 2011.
After that we got to see a new Final Fantasy XIV (yeah, that's the one that's online - no, that was Final Fantasy XI; this is the new one that's going to be online) trailer, and it looked amazing. I mean, it might not be The Old Republic amazing - but it will definitely be interesting to anyone that cares at all about Final Fantasy (like myself!).
Next was the new Gran Turismo 5 trailer. The graphics in this game look to be ground-breaking. I mean - wow. I think that there are points where I wouldn't know the difference between Gran Turismo 5 and real life; it's that amazing. I don't even care a bit about racing games, but this is something that has me blown away. And the best part - there's a release date finally: November 2. Yes, that's November 2 of 2010.
The next announcement was Infamous 2. I was a huge fan of the original Infamous; I thought it made the sandbox experience really fun and interesting, and to make things better it gave you powers to use while running around - and it was indeed a blast to play. But the trailer for Infamous 2....wow, this really looks like Sucker Punch is one-upping themselves here. Not only are the visuals here really great for a sandbox experience, but the trailer boasts what should be some really interesting gameplay additions - like being able to charge up melee weapons with lighting. It also looks like Infamous 2 will have a much more varied and interesting level design between the different districts. Infamous 2 will be out in 2011. (Oh yeah, and if you're interested then you can learn more; Infamous 2 is the cover story of the new Game Informer magazine.)
Last but not least...something I thought I'd never see again...something that I thought had just sort of fallen off the map: Twisted Metal. And this wasn't just a trailer (well there was a trailer, but it was just sort of uninteresting), but there was also a full-fledged multiplayer demo. The gameplay here - it looks something like Twisted Metal Black; the design has that dark and gritty feel to it. I've got to admit: I'd like to see Twisted Metal come back with the campy vibe of Twisted Metal 2, but that's not to imply that this is losing anything by being like Twisted Metal Black. In fact it looks great; it just looks...sort of like it blends in to all the other brown and black games we're seeing so much of lately. Oh well, it's Twisted Metal - and Twisted Metal is awesome. It will come out sometime in 2011.
