A look at a classic martial arts game

Supreme Warrior retro Review for 3do and Sega cd: what we thought games in 2009 would look like!

One of my favorite retro games of all times was developed by a company called Digital Pictures: Supreme Warrior.  It was released in 1995 for the Us, Canada, Mexico,  Europe, and Latin America on a dual release for consoles Sega cd and 3DO.

What made this game so freaking cool is that it was a 100% full motion video action game>  If you ever played Dragon's Lair with Dirk as the playable character it is simialiar...but the controls were waaaayyyy better.  No guessing about how or where to move.......you learned through practice how to punch and kick and became one with a kung fu film!

The acting was top notch and nothing matches it yet...I mean nothing!  The backdrop of the game is ancient feudal China and you are charged with protecting one half of a powerful, mystical mask that when coupled together with its missing half will grant the wearer untold supernatural power.  Of course, an evil warlord named Fang Tu has the other half of the mask......and he also has four warlords with an elemental mask of water, fire, wind, and earth for you to defeat first.  Each warlord has underlings you must beat before going on to the elemental warlord.  Once defeated you gain their mask and subsequently their power, which you definitely will need to defeat Fang Tu.  Many of the actors are known from various martial arts movies and the story, filming, locations and props look big budget and kung fu movie quality. At the time it was released it got mediocre reviews from the likes of EGM and other such mags.....hogwash!  This game rocked then...and it rocks now!  Check out the clips from youtube and get your azz to E-bay and buy a used 3do( you could go for a sega cd but the 3do version looked and played better and is a much cooler collectible antique system then the Sega cd).  Enjoy Jimmys!

I'd rather play this than anything else that's come out in the last 10 years.
