Why does the Sony PS3 take so long to update?

The guys over at Ars beat me to my latest rant...

Credit where it's due. The guys over at ars technica's blog wrote pretty much exactly what I wanted to say about the PS3 versus the XBOX when it comes to installing updates (both system updates and game patches).

Like any serious gamer, I have both systems and I can tell you that this is one of the reasons I like to play games on the 360 more.

Usually ever time I turn on my PS3 there is a new update, in which I just tell it to shut the damn thing off after installing the update. Sometimes I just say fuck the PS3.
