The highly acclaimed fighting series adds 12 new legends to the robust Marvel vs. Capcom® 3 line-up, bringing the total overall roster of characters up to 50. This includes zombie-slayer Frank West on the Capcom side and cosmic defender Rocket Raccoon from the Marvel Universe. The new character options also include Phoenix Wright, Vergil, Nemesis, Strider and Firebrand from Capcom and Nova, Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider and Hawkeye from Marvel.

In addition to new characters, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 features a host of enhancements and features to improve the game’s balance and online functionality. One of the biggest additions to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the fan-requested Spectator Mode, which allows fighters to watch live online matches together.

Also, available as free downloadable content after launch, Heroes and Heralds is a new single player and multiplayer team-based mode where you unlock brand-new abilities with upgrade cards, customize your favorite character with new powers and compete in groups as either Heroes defending Earth from Galactus or as one of Galactus’ Heralds.

Ultimate MvC3 - PlayStation Vita gameplay

By: BatRastered Feb 2, 2012 | 1 Comments

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 arrives on PlayStation Vita, with all the modes and characters from the console version, plus new unique functionality.

I don't see anything new or noteworthy in this video, other than the fact that they wasted half the frame by putting it in a PS Vita border. Then again I don't play the full-on version so maybe somebody is impressed by this... GoukiJones says he wants a PS Vita just to play this and Uncharted.

It should work the same right? PS Vita is a strong machine ... so it should look good too. Right? I don't know, I haven't been able to get hands on anywhere I've actually played a PS Vita.

I have said this in the past though. Uncharted Vita (or whatever it's called) and Ultimate Marvel on the Vita are the only two games I'm interested in. I was just out of town for a week (it felt like a month) and I wish had a handheld version of Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 with me. I'm addicted to it at home.

Oh god, here's where I completely contradict myself. I haven't even beaten Uncharted 3 yet. Honestly it's not that good, ask around. And I don't really play Ultimate that much, maybe like twice a week with very few practice sessions mixed in. I played the PS Vita again last week in Miami. I played it two weeks ago at CES. I played it at E3 and at PAX last year. It is a nice machine. $250 is a lot to ask from me right now. I got hosting and cell phones and other bad habits I NEED to have.

Forget about the price. I would use it. I say that now and then maybe after a week I would forget about it. Because I'm not on the road a lot and I have the console versions in the other room. I would definitely want it for traveling. Remember I don't ever go out of the house.

Can you imagine EVO this year for a second. Everyone is going to have a PS Vita with UMvC3. They gonna be blowing up the WiFi. There are some really cool features in this mobile version. With that said, UMvC3 should work just the same as the console version right. Unless you just can't play the game with out a fight stick. I still think that you can get a lot of practice and help stay fresh with the game, again if you can't play on a console or without a stick. Plus everyone else you're fighting against will also be using a PS Vita. Until some crazy white dude in his parents basement someday figures out how to hack in a fight stick into a PS Vita. Until then, well then you're fucked.

Check out the features in this video below and then let me know your takes in the comments below. Don't be a Jimmy!

Spectator and sharing modes over wi-fi sounds cool. The question remains, where do I plug in my fight stick? Jimmy?

From Capcom:

New screenshots are now available from the PlayStation Vita version of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

The handheld edition of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will feature online and local multiplayer, touchscreen functionality, NEAR and everything you would find in the PS3 version. In addition, the PS Vita version includes a Spectator Mode and Replay function that allows players to watch or share exciting matches over wi-fi. PS Vita exclusive Gold Herald color options are also available for the characters. As an integrated option, gamers can use the PS Vita as the “Ultimate Controller” to play the PS3 version of the game.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 takes the epic battle to all new heights with 12 new characters from the Marvel and Capcom universes, a refined fighting system, eight new stages and new modes. As a launch title for the PlayStation Vita system, the game will be available alongside the PS Vita First Edition bundle on February 15, 2012. The regular launch date for the system is February 22, 2012.
