Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Follow Up

By: ThaBrad Nov 23, 2010 | 14 Comments

After a couple of weeks of playing, it's still as fun as the first night thanks to a couple of features from the makers of Need for Speed.

After playing a few weeks with King of Jimmys("The Ultimate Enforcer") and Erik Estrada("Online Pwner"), I've been having as much fun as I've had since I got it. One of the best features about the game is the Autolog.

"The heart of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is Autolog, which is where your journey begins every time you enter Seacrest County. Autolog is the intelligent engine at the center of our most connected Need for Speed ever, keeping you in the middle of the action both in and out of the game. Through Autolog, you’ll be able to track your career progress, Personal Best times and how they compare against your friends, check out all your captured game photos, brag about your latest accomplishments, and jump into challenges recommended by Autolog’s comparison engine based on your friends’ gameplay."

"If your mug is going to be plastered all over your friends’ walls, you better make sure that your profile picture is exactly how you want it looking. If you’ve got photos on your computer that you’d rather use, log into Autolog on the web and change up your profile picture. It’s as easy as busting your friends! Just log into hotpursuit.needforspeed.com/autolog click on Career and then look for the camera icon on the profile picture space. Simple. " Lets take a look at a Rent a Cop Jimmy..

"Trash-talking is one of the best parts of gaming. Who doesn’t enjoy beating a friends time in an event and then bragging to them about it? Well, we’ve incorporated that right into the game thanks to Autolog, but when you’re not playing, that doesn’t mean the smack can’t continue to fly! Jump on to Autolog on the Web and access your wall. From there you can write a message to all your friends, or comment on anything your friend has said! Give it a try!" Lets take a look at some of the comments on my wall..

So now that I've seen that Jimmy has beated a few of my times, I'll want to go look at those races. So after drilling down to each individual race I come up with this.

Take a look at the attempts,WOW, so as you can see this Jimmy has put a lot of hard work into trying to beat my times. So this goes back to my very first point, this game is just as addictive now as it was when it was first released. I don't recommend you go off the deep end and play hours on top of hours trying to beat someone's time like this Jimmy did, but I definately recommend checking it out if you haven't.

OMG don't be a Jimmy! Movie of 2014. When's the last time a videogame movie really worked? Now we're making video game movies about cars. Cars?! It's bullshit.

Confirmed. Jesse Pinkman does not say "Bitch" once during this moive.

Your thots?

EA press conference

By: jalexbrown Jun 14, 2010 | 4 Comments

Check out my impressions of EA's keynote speech inside.

So Microsoft's keynote was pretty disappointing; we all know it's true.  Unless you care about watching Kinect, there was very little that was interesting.  So then came EA's keynote.  Was it better than Microsoft?  For the most part, yes.

EA opened up with a new remake of Hot Pursuit.  I have to say it: I wasn't that much impressed by the demo.  It's from Criterion, and it certainly looked like it; the game really did appear to have a Burnout feel to it.  The graphics do look impressive, but I just can't get over the fact that the game looks more like a Burnout game than a Need for Speed game.  EA boasted that the game was going back to the Need for Speed roots, but I just didn't see it in the demo.

Team Gouki sat down for a few rounds of good ole fashioned cops and robbers. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit style. Bonus commentary.

ThaBrad was MIA, allegedly one of his mods was blocking him from getting online. And Cindy? Oh Cindy was having another Endless Battle with his FightStick.

Race with Gouki.com Saturday night 12/04/2010. Hot Pursuits, Interceptor and good old fashioned racing.

I know a lot of people have jumped on the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit band wagon right now. The deals from Black Friday and Cyber Monday had NFS as low as $35. Stolen.

So this Saturday night 12/04/2010 I'd like to announce a Team Gouki race fest. Be online around 8pm PST this Saturday and send me(King of Jimmys) a message or join the room. (if you can) Race with Gouki.com legends such as Cinderkin, BatRastered, xERIK ESTRADAx, ThaBrad, StAtIcX2552 and of course the world famous FNJimmy

Watch this video on youtube too unlock free DLC for everybody.

Finally we're gonna get an open world Cops and Robbers ... Don't be a Jimmy. I hope you still have a copy of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is a 2010 Jimmy Gem winner for having one of the most innovative things in gaming. The Autolog. If you missed out on this experience, that's just too bad Jimmy. Playing NFSHP online with friends is one of the closest experiences I've had to Mario Kart 64 rail fests.

I absolutely love NFSHP ever since the demo dropped. When the game actually released, I put a lot of hours into it. Legit hours too, nothing that has to do with modding like ThaBrad or Erik Estrada ... Mods heard. I only wanted to change a few games with the online world. For one I wanted an open world car chase bad. Super cops and robbers and I can run in any direction possible. Well it seems with this new DLC, my dreams have come true.

Also new in this DLC is racing with weapons. Vintage Mario Kart. A couple of new cars packs. All of these DLC's are priced at  for $6.99 (560 Microsoft Points) which is tangible, but couldn't EA just have rolled out a package or something at a discount. Oh wait, it's EA. We're lucky we don't have to pay every time we put the game into our systems. Fuckin' Jimmys.

Check out this video from the NeedforSpeed YouTube Channel.

From YouTube: THREE new pieces of DLC are coming to Need For Speed Hot Pursuit! Get Armed & Dangerous on Feb 22nd, Lamborghini Untamed on March 1st, and Porsche Unleashed on march 8th. Visit http://hotpursuit.needforspeed.com/ for all of the details.

Need a copy of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit?

Innovation that really changes the experience of games is something that a lot of developers can't get right. Here's a list of Gouki.com's most innovative things in video games from 2010.

Super Street Fighter IV - Replay channel

Watch random fights online while you cook breakfast. Sometimes even fights you've been in pop up or fights from people on you friends list. The SSF4 was a great way to learn street fighter as well.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit - The Autolog

Nothing else released this year made me want to play a game more than the Autolog. The competition of getting the fastest time on racing, or playing a cop intrigued me to no end. I'd stay up all night trying to figure out how this Jimmy (ThaBrad) got 10 seconds on some random interceptor challenge.

Fable III - Friend stats and updates

I have 0 STD's, Creasemonkey has 6. Erik Estrada has 27 kids. Man of Ponage has 22,000,000 gold. These stats would pop up constantly while you were playing. They were also in real time.

Smackdown VS Raw 2011 - Create a superstar

Where this feature has it woes, the outcome of what you can create is still amazing.

Halo Reach - menu

People do not realize how brilliant the Halo Reach menu is, that you can go through the entire menu. Check friends online, see friends armor sets, change your armor, buy armor, change your buttons, view the stats from the game, save a copy of the game. It's ridiculous. Every game should be like this.

Winners will be announced December 29th. Did we leave anything out? What's your favorite? Leave a comment below! AND don't forget to vote for your favorites in our Video Game Catalog.

Exclusive video and commentary from GoukiJones. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is the hottest racing game for the 2010 holiday season.

Criterion Games presents Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, the best selling racing game of the 2010 holiday season. Gran Turismo 5 is out. There's no competition in the racing genre. Don't worry, I think GT5 and NFSHP are two totally different games anyway. NFSHP is a fast pace action arcade racing game. GT5 is a simulator.

I got a good taste of the racing during my time with the demo and I will tell you I really enjoyed it. A couple of notes here. I thought it was weird when the demo asks for your email and if I want to sign up for the EA newsletter and receive other valuable information. No Jimmy. No thank you. There's gonna be a lot of social networking integration.

It's bad enough the most giant ad ever on the Xbox dashboard was seen today for TIDE detergent?! WTF. Maybe moms are logging in -first thing in the morning- before they do laundry to have a quick game of Halo Reach.

There are only two races in the demo. The cop chase in which you must ELIMINATE the illegal drivers. Not to be confused with running over illegal aliens. Both the cop cars are sweet and there's an intro with a sexy voice over for each car. The other race is just a race with high performance cars. No cops, which I didn't understand. Also different during this race was the licensed rock music playing. The cop chase race only had some generic "hot pursuit" music. I could care less about the music either way.

Check out my video series below. A Gouki.com exclusive.

GoukiJones NFS Hot Pursuit demo cop chase Commentary

This is my very first race. I'm railing my friend list best times. Don't be a Jimmy. It's an excellent race. Enjoy the video.

GoukiJones NFS Hot Pursuit demo casual race Commentary

This is the game when there are no cops. Just another boring racing game. That is not my background music. That is from the game. sad face? Muted!

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit meet the police

Get to know your Crown Vic and whatever this Z thing is. The voice over chick sounds hot talking about these cars. Pwn!

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit police crashing Jimmys

Just some highlight crashes from my time with the demo. This game is gonna be a lot of fun for a group of Jimmys.

Hype it up! I am hyped for this. I'm police all of the way. All this game needs is bodies flying through the windshields.

Gran Turismo 5 VS Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

By: goukijones Nov 26, 2010 | 18 Comments

So for the thanksgiving I visited with family and friends. I also brought along Gran Turismo 5 and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. Of course my friend grabbed the Gran Turismo 5 first, but what happened next is unbelievable.

I guess you can say this was an intended experiment to see what my friend thought of these two brand new racing games. Gran Turismo 5 was still in the shrink wrap when I brought it over. I had already played the crap out of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and it's no secret that I love it. They writin' stories about my record times on the internet.

My friend immediately grabbed for the Gran Turismo 5, unwrapped it and put it in his Playstation 3. Of course we had to do a system update and an install. It's the Playstation what did you expect I told him. Reports on the internet was that there is a 45+ minute install time for GT5. Luckily we were distracted by family, football, alcohol and turkey. After the install I grabbed the remote and started to look through the menus. I just wanted a quick race so I can see it. I've been waiting for such a long time for this game and the internet has been an unstoppable buzz machine about everything GT5. Well I couldn't just race, I had to do a license test first. First license braking challenge. Ok seems simple enough. The countdown begins and then I'm off down the straight away. There is a giant checkered board at the end of the track, I guess gotta stop there. No problem. Perfect. Wait what? Failed? Aw fuck. I was called for the official turkey dinner start and left the game running right where I failed to brake. I was in shock that I failed the braking test.

After the meal I headed back into the game room and found my friend all up in the Gran Turismo 5. He was still trying to get a license so we could get into a real race. After each attempt at a challenge he handed me the remote and asked if I'd like to play. I respectfully declined. Watching was more than enough for me. 30 minutes later we had a license and entered a race. I still haven't seen anything really special, the game appears to be extremely in-depth and that kind of interests me. I watched my friend do one race and then it was my turn. After playing so much Need for Speed Hot Pursuit there was nothing special about driving a shit car in GT5 at 55 MPH. I was extremely bored with that type of racing. I imagine it would get better with more gameplay and more cars unlocked, but we didn't have time for that and I really wanted him to see the other game I brought at this point.

Finally we put in the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit into his Xbox 360. Within 3 minutes he was already racing. Then as the map began to open up and he unlocked more cop and racer events, it was clear to me we had a winner. He dropped subtle hints to his wife that he needed this game asap or a divorce was imminent. The funny thing about all of this to me is that my friend never asked me once if I wanted to play the Need for Speed, like he did in-between every GT5 load screen.

Gran Turismo 5 is a simulation. A serious simulation of a race car driver who must buy his own car collection, earn his own licenses and level up like an RPG. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is a straight up arcade racer that puts you into high speed racing action right away. I don't have an official opinion on Gran Turismo 5, but I'm sure I'll play it eventually ... if I can ever get off of Need for Speed and trying to beat all of my friends times on the speed wall. Thanks for reading.

**Updated** 11/28/2010 This is at $40 right now. Save your money, I believe the price will drop again for Cyber Monday. I will update whatever price fluctuation occurs. Best racer of the year. Pwn!
