Harmonix the folks behind music rhythm games such as Frequency, Guitar hero 1 and 2, and the Rock Band Series is looking for combat designers. Say what?

In a pleasant surprise Harmonix (Jimmies behind the Rock Band series) posted a job ad on Gamasutra looking for a Combat Designer. Stating that they are “seeking a Combat Designer to create real-time, single-player combat experiences for a brand new IP on next-generation hardware.”

What’s interesting here is that Harmonix are well known for their rhythm based games, like Frequency, Guitar Hero 1 and 2, as well as the successful Rock Band franchise.

“This is an exciting opportunity to contribute creatively to the studio and work on a project that is unlike anything Harmonix has ever done before.”

Harmonix’s John Drake recently stated that "In addition to finishing development on Rock Band Blitz and Dance Central 3, Harmonix is actively developing multiple new IPs on next generation hardware. We're looking for the best and most experienced devs out there to join us."

What are your thoughts on this? Would you be interested in a completely new IP from these guys? How do you feel about the recent Rock Band Games?
