In response to: i huv beat the game.
I just got this game a week ago. It was $35 retail, but I had $15 in coupons for Best Buy. Pwn. So $20 out the door. I beat it yesterday. Maybe $20 was worth about 15 hours of gameplay. I can't decide. Too many things factor in. I started the game with my character from Dragon Age Origins, which she was level 28 or so. I was destroying Darkspawn and any townsfolk that got in my way, easy peasy. During the 15 hours, I traveled back to areas I know I had already combed the shit out of and combed them again. I finished almost every side quests. A second time through, I could do it in 7 hours. $35 is expensive for 7 hours.
Never mind the cost for the moment and let my justify to you why I think it is a good game. Actually I don't know if it is a good game. I know that a certain part of my brain loves taking everything apart about that game. Like watching a roulette wheel or doing coke. I've never done coke, it's only been explained to me. I had every single character broken down with 2 sets of weapons and 2 sets of strategies. Weapons slots meticulously thought out and combined for specific attributes. I mean, my guys were so bad ass at one point, I just stopped leveling up. Fun, but not fare? No. Not challenging. I wanted more of a challenge so I stopped leveling up. After I beat the game, I went back to my last save and checked to see how many levels I could have gone up right before the main boss if I wanted to. 4, I could have gone up 4 levels. I railed The Mother, 4 levels below my max.
Dragon Age Origins is a dungeon crawler. Irrelevant. You have to do quests too. The only problem is, is that there are some factors that may occur which could bug the game out. For example I was crawling this dungeon killing anything and everything I came across, loot and move on. In one particular dungeon in the middle of nowhere I run into this merchant Jimmy. He was way out of his element, because Darkspawn is everywhere. I checked his wares, it was bullshit. So I killed him, looted him and moved on. Way later on, I save some random broad on the trails and she says that she would help recruit merchants for our home town. All I had to do was get the merchants to come visit her in our hometown. One of the guys I had to recruit and the only guy actually, was that Jimmy in the Darkspawn cave that is still probably lying there with his head chopped off. So after I figured that out, I knew the quest was fucked. Wait there's more ... right before the end of the game in my home town. I run pass the merchant stands and sure enough that Jimmy who got his head chopped off is standing there. I thought, ok cool. I can finish that quest. Nope he just talks to me, doesn't even have anything to sell. I guess I did take everything back in the cave. Glitchy Glitchy Glitchtly.
I broke the game a few times, having to go back to save point or restart my Xbox. The game is weird, but that's what I like about. Some random walls are just invisible and there's hidden shit behind them. There's really no consistency to anything about the game. There's no gay stuff really in Awakening. Although your mage buddy Anders is really gay. Overall I wish there was more of a Challenge here. Dragon Age Origins gave me a run for my money, well over 100 hours.
Dragon Age Origins Awakening
Rent it - or get it on Deals Jimmy. I don't think Dragon Age Origins Awakening is worth full retail.
