A blood bath of skills. Get kills with skills… Wait a minute..

What up Jimmies?! Rei here with another review for the Wii. People still play that? YES! And this game is seriously under-rated and underappreciated.

Developed by Platinum Games and Published by SEGA, MadWorld is a classic beat’em with a violent twist. Let’s get to the details…

Story- The story is rather nice. You play a man named Jack Clayman, voice by Steve Blum. It takes place in fiction city similar to New York. One day, someone released a virus that was killing everyone slowly. The antidote? Kill everyone and be the only one alive to receive it. On the out start of the game, you’re thrown into a story of violence and disperse. You get hired from a TV show to participate in a brutal game. Kill your way to the top. Kill your way to get famous. As the story progresses, you’ll find out that Jack is on his own personal mission and intends to finish it. The ones that saw Jack’s skills in the beginning want you to simply entertain them, the rich, spoiled and corrupted. With that being said, the unfortunate side is, the story is rather short, five to six hours. It’s honestly a good story with a style like no other!

Graphics- Hot damn! Talk about a walking canvas. While the Wii can’t compare to the current gen’s graphics, the developers at Platinum Games did an amazing job in telling story and gameplay like this. With three colors, white, black and red, it’s enough to keep you hypnotized in the style of this game. It’s just stylish! They show the conversation with comic-book style story and graphics. Such a game could be played in any other system and no one would know the difference in them. The art design is a MUST to see. You start of in the slums and then… Little Asian Town. The level designs are fantastic! Little Asian Town and a Hollow ‘eve style castle will make you want to explore all the areas! With sure creative areas, you’ll want to have a second play through, because of missed kill and location opportunities.

Gameplay- This is the highlight of the game. The main focus in this game is to kill your opponents with the most creative and brutal way possible. Calling out a Wii game for its “jerk-off” controls is like calling a dwarf for being small. It’s not fair but you get used to it. And the motion controls are saved for the insane finishers. It’s a brawer, you punch, kick, grab, jump and fist pound. In each stage, you have a total of 30 minutes to complete, which is more than enough to do so. But Jack just isn’t just some big Jimmy. This Jimmy has a mechanical right arm that spawns a chainsaw! You get points for killing enemies. Punch them until you see a finisher move and see what happens. But that’s BORING!! The game is about getting kills with skills and you will see plenty of street signs to pull out from the ground, and RAM IT INTO THEIR HEAD, once stunned, pick them up and throw them to the nearest trash can on fire for combo bonus. Once you scored enough points, Blood Bath challenges open up. Here, you’ll die laughing and be stunned on what you’re killing! You’ll rack up points in no time. You get to impale them to hooks lying around and use more weapons that’ll bring on the pain. The boss battles are the greatest part in the game. You WILL remember these fights! Some more that others but you’ll be left with your jaw dropped. Some of the boss battles can seem a little repetitive once you know how to jerk the mote off. Also, the camera tends to molest you in the stiffest way. And the lock-on takes its time to lock-on. The game also has a multiplayer mode which involves the Blood Bath challenges to see who gets the most points. Two players only. A nice add-on to share the pain.

Sound- You’ll laugh at the announcers. They provide with one of the most clever and amusing commentary ever! Think of them as the announcers from the Japanese show, MXC Elimination. It’s one of the most craziest, vulgar and amusing thing you’ll ever hear. Much better than dicktits that’s for sure. Jack’s chainsaw arm sounds exactly like a chainsaw. And Steven Blum does a great voice performance in his voice for the character Jack. The music has some great rock and beats that will want you to get more points!

Overall- Buy it! Don’t be a Jimmy! It’s one of the rare gems that don’t get the credit for what that they deserve. It’s mad cheap and will keep you creative on your skills to kill!
