Cars 2 for the wii... sucks.

By: Aragrist Jul 21, 2011 | 5 Comments

My son got this game for his birthday and I feel like he got ripped off.

First off why are all the game modes locked? Second why can't you race other people right out of the box?

Mario Kart doesn't make it a pain in the ass just to play multiplayer. With Cars 2 it seemed to me that the design of this game was overly complicated considering it's a kids game. When a seven year old can't get through the start screen and start a race on his own you know there's a problem. Once we messed with it for a while he was able to get to a type of multiplayer but it wasn't fun and it wasn't racing. It was training. They force you to do training courses to learn how to jump turn and do just about everything that should be natural to anyone that's ever played a game like this before. I was at target the other day and saw Mario kart for the wii and just picked it up and started playing,. The controls are way different than on the Game Cube but they are intuitive and natural and I was able to just play and have fun. Not so with Cars 2 which makes everything a chore and doesn't even have the play machanics to rival low end kart racers. At least the graphics were nice and crisp.

Definitely Flush this pile.

Graphics get a 4 out of 5

I looks like the cars movie which is all I can say is good about this game.

Audio gets a 4 out of 5

Sure the sound works nice and the voices are cool and I think may even be done by the real actors but they get repeatitive.

Controls get a 2 out of 5

Super sluggish and overly complexe for a kids game.

Story gets a 3 out of 5

It's just the Cars 2 story line from what I saw and that movie kind of sucked anyway.

My opinion-- This game was a waste of time and effort. Go get Mario Kart instead.

The Conduit 2 Review

By: reipuerto Jun 30, 2011 | 10 Comments

Will Michael Ford stop the alien invasion or be destroyed?

The sequel to one of the Wii's under-appreciated games gets a great update, story and gameplay. Published by SEGA and developed by High Voltage Software, if you own a Wii, check this out!

Story- You play as Michael Ford, who's voiced by the talented Jon St. John(Duke Nukem Jimmy!!), and it's your duty to save the world and stop John Adams from an alien invasion. This story continues right after the first one. You followed Adams through the conduit and the story unfolds with amusing and interesting twists! You land inside Atlantis and use it's conduit to travel and stop Adams, with the help of Andromeda and the new The Destroyer suit. It's a fun experience that changes the way you look at Prometheus and his “good” intentions. I won't spoil anything here but it's a fun experience that'll take you to different location form China and their Jade Warriors to the arctic tundra of Siberia! You'll travel from place to place all over the world.

Gameplay- “BOOM!! Head shot!!” Tight, fluid and fast, with it's own special sauce from High Voltage Games. It's a first person shooter that you point to the screen and destroy baddy for lunch and dinner. Each weapon has a secondary fire and can really make you feel like a super agent from the future. What I love about this series is their choices of weapons and how they implement their special fire. The regular human weapons have iron site, which works well with the tight controls. The alien's weapons have such a diverse use of fire, it makes you appreciate High Voltage Games choice of weapons and experimentation of them. One gun doesn't use ammo, so your shoots are unlimited and you can charge it to become invisible for a short while, but it'll freeze up your gun if you say in that mode. How do you fix that? Start shooting. The gun heats up when shot but cools when charged. Great balance and it's just one of the many weapons that you'll encounter, like a gun that shoots through walls. Grenades are still there and they can really help you in pressuring fights. The use of WiiMotin Plus is only used for on screen cursor if moved TOO far, which I didn't have a problem to begin with. You can even upgrade your armor suit and use those power ups to make the fight more enjoyable as the game progresses. Now, online!

Online- The game supports a whooping 14 game modes across 12 different maps and nice ranking, WITH the support of the new microphone headset, and 12 players going wild, you're truly missing out on one of the Wii's most enjoyable online experience! They even include an online mode called “Invasion Mode” which is fight to survive ways of enemies. With the addition of individual perks and team perks, you'll be surprised on how divers each match could be.

Sound- Great audio work from Jon St. John giving Ford's character more personality. It makes me feel like I'm playing as Duke Nukem at some points! But sound effects from the weapon sound great. Head shots are crunchy, and voice work from everyone else is not bad. The sound track does give some heart pounding music and tension in every boss fight, and the levels themselves are not too shabby! Bright and detailed design and color make is easy on the eyes.

Graphics- High Voltage Software know how to use the Wii. With more color pallet and distinctive level design, each stage is a new experience and sight. Granted, this is not a PS3 or Xbox360 game, so the game does look good in it's own merits. Minor graphical detail in some places but that's just nitpicking.

Overall- BUT IT! With an exciting single player experience and online one of the best, you'll be playing this with friends for hours! I'm now stroked what SEGA and High Voltage Software will have in store for the next game~

Personal opinion here, so skip to the Jimmy notes for a gist of my review.

Reviewers have stated that there is a bug in the save feature and that's NOT true. What turns me away from other editors is the lack of gameplay skills and knowledge they have. The glitch are save points that save when you die. Nope. Only if you run PAST the enemies or jump off a cliff into the next area, the game is programed to autosave in new areas, but you're suppose to defeat the enemies which contradicts the nature of the game, and go down the given path. Seriously! These reviewers, in my opinion, are lazy and just want to get their review out “FIRST”, like every comment on every page, to get more hits! Rather than enjoy a game and what it has to offer in their years of development process and be late on a review, to give a full detail on what they're trying to accomplish and deliver.

Jimmy Notes

Pros

  • Great online
  • Great design and art work
  • Tight controls
  • Awesome guns
  • Good replayability

Cons

  • Cliff hanger ending

Pro gamer FnJimmy goes hands-on with Skyward Sword in the Nintendo booth. Watch as he destroys the first demo and has time for another.

FnJimmy and I headed to the Nintendo booth to play some Zelda Skyward Sword. You can choose the bird riding level, a dungeon level, or a boss battle. They only give you a 10 minute demo to keep the lines moving and FnJimmy had played a little bit of the combat last year, so I encouraged him to take on the bird riding.

Most of the people in front of us had tried the bird riding too, none of them seemed able to beat it in the 10 minutes allowed. Noobs... give that Wii mote to FnJimmy and watch him do his best Fred Savage from that one movie from the 80's...

Uhhh... No, the other one...

That's better

Yeah, he may be a n00b at FPS games, but FnJimmy was born with a Nintendo controller in his hand. Okay... back to reality... Watch FnJimmy rail the birds so fast he still has time to do the dungeon level. "Good job, Jimmy!"

FnJimmy had a huge grin on his face after that and wouldn't let us leave the Nintendo booth until I had recorded his takes. So here is the offical FnJimmy hands-on impressions of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword releases this holiday season for the Nintendo Wii.

E3 Nintendo Press Conference Review

By: reipuerto Jun 7, 2011 | 5 Comments

My take on Nintendo's Press Conference. With pictures! ;)

Press conference starts off with link's history through out time, done by full orchestral.

Shigiro Miyamoto gets on stage and gets a translator. eShop channel for the 3DS will have the Gameboy Color; The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awaking DX and not the DX version, shame. The DS will also including a Legend of Zelda Four Sword for free! There's also a Zelda concert that'll be preforming in each region! Free sound track from Club Nintendo if you register your Zelda 3DS. Zelda will also receive a gold controller for Skyward Sword. Bundle? Then Miyamoto-san gives thanks for all these years of gaming!

Satouro Iwata comes and talks about Wii2. The crowd gets blue balls! It's schedule for coming next year, 2012. Titles shown are;

Mario Kart 3D, Star Fox 3D, New Super Mario Bros, Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion 2, and some more.

Reggie comes on stage. Shows off Mario Kart 3DS. You can now drive underwater and is schedule to be released this holiday season.

Star Fox 3DS. Uses till controls(as shown above) and 3D. Has a great feature of real face time and will be available this September and well as Mario before this year.

Kid Icarus shows of multiplayer and a Kid Icarus battle card game!

Lugi's is back in Luigi's Mansion 2! Looks funny and fun! Several new mansions!

Then some trailers are show with games to come, like: Ace combat 3D, Tetris 3D, Tekken 3D, MGS Snake Eater 3D. The eShop will also have demo's via in gamestore, and trailers, later this year. Pokemon 3D is not what we though. It's pokemon and it has spot pass so you can collect them all.

The he talks about the new name system, called WiiU, which is about you and me! The controller was only shown but it has a 6.2 screen on the controller, microphone, gyros, accelerometers, speakers, rumble, inward and outward facing cameras, and all Wii accessories work with it. Not a portable machine but an extension of the system. Has crazy possibilities. Smash Brothers was annoucced for both 3DS and WiiU!!

Official game, Lego City Story is an open ended city for both WiiU and 3DS.

EA parnership for WiiU. Reggie showing video of developers praising the Wii U, like; Peter Moore, Yves Guillemot, Danny Bilson, Ken Levine, and more.

Darksiders 2 will be at launch! Batman Arkham City! Assassin's Creed! Ghost Recon! Aliens: Colonial Marines was just shown running on Wii U at the Nintendo E3 press conference! Nintendo has Ninja Gaiden 3!

It's AMAZING! Think about it. The controller is the CONNECTION to the WiiU. The system is still separate! But this bring more questions than answers. How much will the controller be and the System be?

It's coming holiday 2012, so we still have much more to see! Let us know, down below!

Don't be a Jimmy! Lol!

A top seven list for most anticipated of E3 2011!

What up Jimmies? No one likes to read, so here's my top seven most anticipated games of E3!
