Prey 2 NOT Canceled, Just Delayed. Official Bethesda Statement

Everybody can relax. Bethesda says they want to uphold the quality of Prey 2, like with Brink and The Hunted. So Prey 2 is not cancelled, but when WILL it come out?

From Bethesda:

Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.

I'm hyped for this game. I watched a dev play through a demo last year at E3 and saw the same video at PAX. The game looks great, of course it does. The gameplay however is what I really want to get my hands on. Vertical gunplay and bounty hunting through huge futuristic cities. Yeah I like that Jimmy. We'll keep you updated on the progress and see if we can't get any new info from E3 this year.

Don't forget RAGE. That was Bethesda too... Now they're working on Dishonored as well. I do hope this delay actually improves the quality of the game and we don't get another Brink.

Bethesda seems to have gone seriously down hill. Maybe they can redeem themselves with this.

Wow the game looks pretty decent, didn't even think they were this far along in the game development.

The only game company that I saw benefited from delays is Blizzard ^^
