"The Elder Scrolls VI" Name Drop & Hidden Release Date?

Eight years later, we finally have one word.

It’s been eight years since The Elder Scrolls VI was first announced. The original teaser is so old that E3 was still a thing when it dropped. Now we have what feels like a remake of that announcement—except this time, it actually revealed the title.

The Elder Scrolls VI: Announcement.

Just kidding.

The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel.

Release date speculation currently points to 2028, though I believe a 2027 launch is still possible. This could even be the first game to launch alongside a new console generation, which makes the timeline a complete 50/50. One thing that feels certain is that Sentinel will support both current-gen and last-gen consoles.

A 2027 release could mean a few different things. Bethesda might ship an “incomplete” version of the game—just enough content to get players started. We’ve seen this approach before. They’d then continue working on the game through post-launch updates, building toward the first DLC. In that scenario, the fully realized version of the game (the one that should have launched day one) might not arrive until sometime in 2028, with the second DLC in 2030 essentially serving as the real first expansion.

Option 2: The game launches fully featured in 2028. We’re talking 100+ hours of content, brand-new gameplay systems and mechanics, and the most ambitious Elder Scrolls experience yet. Co-op so you and a friend can explore the world together. A $100 Complete Edition. Deal.
