Can you escape with the loot?!
Vigor, developed by Bohemia Interactive, is a new extraction shooter game that initially brought me a lot of frustration. During my first few attempts, I would often end up dead and empty-handed. However, I eventually realized that going into the game without any weapons at all was a better strategy. I would select a location that allowed for quick entry and exit, and then choose a random exit to make a swift getaway.
This approach generally worked well for me, except for one unfortunate encounter where someone was camping the exit with a shotgun. Even though I was fast, this player must have gone straight to the nearest exit and patiently waited for any unsuspecting victims. It became clear to me at that moment that successfully extracting with valuable loot would require a specific kind of camping and defensive playstyle.
In the next map, I decided to adopt a much more cautious approach. I spent around 30 minutes crawling on the ground to avoid detection and reach the extraction point safely. While I have no problem with shooting on PC, my movement skills are not as refined. However, Vigor supports controllers, which I found to be great for better maneuverability. So, I would use the controller for looting and tracking other players, and when it was time to engage in combat, I would put it down and switch to my mouse for more precise aiming. This strategy eventually helped me achieve a top-ranking position in the game.
Vigor also incorporates some base building mechanics, but it could be compared more to games like Clash of Clans rather than traditional first-person shooters. Upgrading certain aspects of your in-game house, like electricity, takes time. Additionally, each subsequent upgrade requires even more time. Some items may take up to 7 days or longer to complete. However, there is an in-game currency that you can earn while playing, which can be used to speed up these upgrades. The currency can also be spent on purchasing blueprints for weapons and clothing and buying buffs before matches. Therefore, there is an element of pay-to-win or pay-to-progress faster in Vigor. Pay-to-LOOT!
