Not quite, but EA hedges its bets during their investor conference call yesterday.
NOTE: When you see "Fiscal Year" in this story it is referring to the year ending on March 31, 2012.
EA's release to investors stated that:
We are preparing the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The launch date, while in
our fiscal year, is not yet certain. We see roughly $0.15 EPS variability between the
potential launch window
we assume that Star Wars: The Old Republic ships in the calendar year, but our guidance
range accounts for a range of ship dates within the fiscal year
Public companies must recognize any uncertainty, by law, in their investor guidance, so the above is not exactly shocking. To further this point we have this:
While we fully anticipate launching Star Wars: The Old Republic in Q2 or Q3, the low
end of our guidance range assumes the outside possibility of a January launch.
Finally, From Frank Gibeau (President of EA Games) on the conference call we have:
And finally, the biggest event of the year will be Star Wars: The Old Republic -- a jawdropping subscription-based MMO that is captivating critics and fans in the beta test. We
currently have over one million double-opt-in beta testers for the world’s first story-driven, fully
Everyone is waiting for us to announce the ship date… Sorry, but that’s not going to happen
today. We’re holding the date for two reasons – first, we don’t want to tip off the competition;
second, we want more data from the beta test to guarantee a spectacular experience at
So, we got a whole lot of nothing on the conference call yesterday. Lots of analysts are speculating that the game will slip to 2012 based on this, but if you read carefully and have listened to this type of thing in the past, this is not what they are saying, though they are acknowledging the possibility.
When do you think The Old Republic will finally ship? Leave a comment and let us know.

New trailer and info about the revival of Medal of Honor.
The New Medal of Honor game is set to be released October 13, 2010 if you don't know its going to be in Modern day ala Modern Warfare. Its also set a month before the New Call of
Duty:Black-ops is scheduled for launch no coincidence there! But here's the trailer and let us know what you think?
A decent length campaign with some truly awesome moments is marred by some terrible AI.
Crysis 2 has an interesting campaign, if you can get past the bordom of the first few levels, that is. I spent about 14 hours in the campaign, that's a pretty good length by today's standards. Certainly, you're not getting cheated like Modern Warfare 2's ridiculously short story. The story takes place on a Manhattan island that has been devistated by a plague. Little do they know, that this disaster was casued by aliens.
While I had a great time in the later levels fighting against the "Ceph" aliens, the game starts you off fighting against a private military corporation known as the "Cell". I guess they were in charge of evacuating the city or something, but I was never really sure as to why they wanted to kill me. I mean, I'm trying to save the world! I guess somebody wanted my suit? Whatever. Fighting the Cell is 50% boring and 50% terrible, glitchy AI. If they catch a glimpse of you, they start shooting, but if you're far enough away when this happens, you can just cloak and they often go back to doing what they were doing as if nothing happened. Reall good security force there, Jimmy! The dialouge they spew is equally buggy. Once, I stealth killed a Cell soldier, and one of his buddies heard it and went to investigate. I cloaked and waited for him to show up. Upon standing over his friend's corpse, he quips "must've been a false alarm." Huh?
Once the Ceph start to show up, you're in for some real action. They jump off walls and up onto roof tops to flank you and, of course, take more that a bullet or two to bring down. Unfortunately, I was a good 5 hours into the game before the good stuff happened. In fact, the demo level we saw at E3 2010 was from the second to last level of the game. Really? Really! Still, fighting a walking alien tank while being hounded by many Ceph ground troops is a lot of fun and a good challenge. Interestingly, after wiping out a large chunk of the Ceph offensive, I'm back fighting Cell again, trying to rescue someone from them and they're hell-bent on killing me again... as if I didn't just save all their asses... Yeah, the story is a little convoluted.
The graphics and sound of Crysis 2 are top-notch. I played on an XBOX 360 (in HD, but not 3D) and thought the game looked spectacular. Even better considering I didn't have to install anything to get up and running. Just pop in the disk and go. The draw distance in Crysis 2 is really incredible, which allows the sniper rifle to be very useful in many situations. The orchestral musical score, while not quite Halo standards for me, was quite good and added to the overall experience. The suit itself talks to you, telling you when you cloak or armor are turned on. This is ok at first, but it gets tiresome since those modes consume energy, you can't just leave them on which means you end up hearing that a lot. The controls are typical for a console FPS, with the addition of the shoulder buttons controlling your armor and cloak abilities and never got in the way of the action, although sometimes when close to an object I couldn't jump the way I wanted to. For some reason, the game continues to tell you how to crawl under things even towards the end of the game, I found no way to turn the hints off.
I didn't play much of the multi-player, though what I did see felt a lot like CoD style, which I hate. See goukijones' MP review later. The campaign itself has no real reason to go back and do it again. In fact, it feels a bit like Halo 2, giving you that "hey we're working on part 3" moment at the end.
- An FPS with a campaign that actually lasts more than one play session.
- Interesting fights with the alien "Ceph".
- The nano-suit is great and makes you feel like a badass.
- Upgrading the suit and swapping weapon parts (scopes, silencers, etc) doesn't pause the game or take you out of the environment at all.
- Most of the story is told in the game engine without taking you out of first-person.
- Controls are spot-on. Shooting feels right.
- Looks great. Sounds great.
- Multi-player feels like CoD. You have to rank up to get better guns, which is hard when people you play against already have them.
- Fights against human "Cell" group are boring, plagued by terrible AI and audio bugs, and just don't make sense.
- Enemy path finding is often broken, leaving bad guys stuck between objects or facing a wall.
- Too much hand-holding by the game. Press B to crouch is useful in level one, just plain annoying in level 18.
- The suit won't shut up. I hope you like hearing "cloak engaged", or "maximum armor", or "nano vision enabled", because you'll hear it a lot.
- No replay value to the campaign.
If you're into the CoD style multiplayer, you might enjoy the overall experience of this game more than I did.
Overall: Rent it

Battlefield 3 is now available for pre-order through Amazon. Also check out the new teaser trailer.
Amazon just unlocked the Pre-order for Battlefield 3. Battlefield is my preferred earth shooter. You can expect Team Gouki to be all over this when it is release sometime in the future.
That box art is probably unofficial. There is no confirmed release date. Amazon just appears to just have a filler date. Battlefield could come out this year. If there is no COD, it would be good for Battlefield to compete with Gears this holiday season.
Check out the teaser trailer.

6 minutes of mp gameplay shown at E3. Cops v Robbers.
This looks exciting. A new take on the Battlefield universe with a touch of payday mixed in. Cops & Robbers with Battlefield's trademark destructable environments.
Cops need backup and criminals need a crew. Either way teamwork is going to be essential if you're going to pull off that perfect heist or score the big time bust.
This should be awesome. I hope my GPU is ready!Read full story...
According to ME3's Facebook page, don't expect ME3 until the first quarter of 2012
We're still a month from E3, but already we've got our first major release date "adjustment" of the season. I fully expect to see a few more of these "TBA 2011" games slip into next year. This is a little dissapointing, but the last Mass Effect slipped into January too, so not entirely unexpected.
Insomniac's new trailer for Fuse delayed, name changed from Overstrike, Ted Price apologizes to fans
By: BatRastered Sep 12, 2012 | 1 Comments
At PAX, Ted Price of Insomniac games announced that Overstrike would be known as Fuse and a new trailer was coming...
It turns out we won't be getting that trailer today due to what Ted Price has called a "legal rights issue".
"During my keynote speech at PAX, I revealed the first screenshot from Fuse, our new game, with a link to this website. If you visited the site, you found a countdown clock that was scheduled to end at 6 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time on September 12th."
"We had an awesome trailer planned and finished. Unfortunately a last-minute legal-rights issue has prevented us from releasing the trailer as planned. EA is trying to obtain the necessary approvals and we hope to bring the trailer to you soon."
Here's what we do know about the game formerly known as Overstrike. From the Fuse website:
When a volatile alien energy source called Fuse falls into the wrong hands, the CIA calls in an elite contact team to retrieve it: Overstrike 9. Join up to three friends in co-op play as you deploy lethal teamwork and Fuse-powered weapons to take down the rogue paramilitary corporation behind the theft.
“LEAP” between agents during battle and combine their weapons and abilities for devastating results.
Combine the agents’ Fuse-powered weapons to trigger Fusion for greatly increased damage.
Develop agents along deep upgrade paths and discover all the possibilities for lethal teamwork.
That sounds pretty cool, a 4 player co-op, but with the ability to swap between classes if there aren't 4 people playing. An interesting take on the genre that should be great fun for a first play through but may limit replay if you've had the chance to use all the classes in one go.

Battlefield 3 was marketed well but EA are back to what they do best. Ruin the experience. This is about the whole "Exclusive DLC" promotion and why gamers are angry at EA and DICE.
Let's be honest, Battlefield 3 is one of our anticipated games this year. EA and DICE have done well to market the game and almost diminish the popularity of the new COD franchise. Battlefield 3 won the crowd at E3 with their playable demo last week, but it seems like the first real mistake from EA on BF3 has emerged and possible can hurt them badly.
Last week EA, in an attempt to encourage people in UK to pre-order the game included the "Physical Warfare Pack" as an exclusive pre-order bonus. It includes an exclusive LMG, a flash suppressor attachment and flechette ammo. Fans aren't happy about EA forcing people to buy the game before the release by offering exclusive items from 'specific' retail shops. They are basically force to get access to the full equipment arsenal. This angered the fans and the 'Boycott BF3' movement was formed by redditors. Last couple of days /r/gaming has been busy with both angry and funny posts on the whole DLC fiasco.
Even @notch, the developer of minecraft reacted to this via twitter.
"When I make a movie, it will have different exclusive scenes added to it depending on what cinema you go to. #subtle" [email protected] notch
EA responded to official "Battlefield 3" blog after the reddit thread started picking up steam. EA representative defended his position on Launch DLC for BF3 by saying that "Owning these items will give you a more varied arsenal, but it will not give you a significant advantage on the battlefield." Here's the point. Most people buy the damn game to play multiplayer. When they don't get the full package they get angry and that's understandable. EA is persistant with their stand and say "they were chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in anyway" If EA wants to encourage people to buy it why not provide everyone the equal arsenal. As always EA doesn't change their mind unless someone proves them they are wrong and embarrass them in public forums like the old BFBC days.
Yes! EA attempted the same DLC practice with "Battlefield: Bad Company" but ended up pulling back after a boycott on SarcasticGamer.com complained about the balance issues associated with exclusive weapons and equipment in a multiplayer shooter. Both @EA and @Battliefield twitter handles have been receiving much hate every hour. Most of them saying they have cancelled the pre-order. Let's hope EA pulls back this crap too like the BFBC bs.

And here comes another Need for Speed game...
EA has announced they are teaming with Black Box to bring you Need for Speed the Run for November 15 2011on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, 3DS, Wii . This time you will be racing across the country. They are running the Frostbite 2 engine and are looking to have action movie style sequences. With the popularity of movies like Fast and the Furious EA has decided they want in.
Here's the official info. http://www.ea.com/games/need-for-speed-the-run
It’s called The Run. An illicit, high-stakes race across the country. The only way to get your life back is to be the first from San Francisco to New York.
No speed limits. No rules. No allies. All you have are your driving skills and sheer determination as you battle hundreds of the world’s most notorious drivers on the country’s most dangerous roads.
In Need for Speed The Run, you’ll weave through dense urban centers, rocket down icy mountain passes and navigate narrow canyons at breakneck speeds, all the while evading a relentless police force prepared – and willing – to use lethal force to take you down.
In stores November 15th, 2011.
Still no update on when to expect this patch, but it's looking pretty massive right now. Here's a list of confirmed fixes so far, but this isn't even complete yet according to DICE. Let us know what you like and dislike about the changes in the comments!
GENERAL GAMEPLAY FIXES:
-Players should no longer take fall damage from short falls.
-Players now get up from Prone slightly faster, allowing better odds of getting away from a grenade or threat when prone.
-Fixed some situations that would unintentionally make a player unrevivable.
-Reduced the black screen fade in time on spawn. The fade is still necessary for properly streaming in loading content at spawn, but it has been substantially reduced.
-Increased the spawn protection time from 1sec to 2sec. The protection will still be immediately canceled as soon as the player moves or shoots.
-Spawn protection will no longer be canceled by the player looking around.
-Increased the speed at which a player regains accuracy when aiming after moving for a more responsive experience. Firing before fully zoomed will still result inaccurate fire.
-Increased the inaccuracy and recoil added when a player is fully suppressed.
-Shotgun Buck and Flechette rounds now have a less suppressive effect at medium to long range.
-Tweaked the damage levels of Buck and Flechette rounds to balance them with other weapons.
-Improved the suppression of the .44 magnum, .357 magnum, and the 5.8x42mm DAP88 rounds from the Type88 sniper.
-Attempting to Crouch (like Prone) will now properly interrupt Sprint.
-Increased the effectiveness of Suppression Resist Specialization.
-Parachutes now respond to turn and throttle inputs more quickly.
-Switching from primary weapons to sidearms and back now takes less time.
-Increased the effectiveness of explosive resistance.
-Tweaked bipod deploy settings so players can no longer deploy a bipod in places higher than chin level.
-The bipod should now be more reliable when deploying on top of sloped objects like cars and rocks.
-Fixed several issues with vaulting objects, especially for thin railings.
-The Knife now only takes two swipes to kill when attacking from a position where a takedown is not possible.
-CRAM weapons on Carriers now count towards stationary weapon awards.
