Akuma - The man, The myth, The legend

a look into the man we call akuma/gouki.

Akuma is one of the most feared fighters in all of gaming and with good reason. I still remember seeing him for the first time on the 3DO (remember that system?) dashing in out of the darkness to kill bison and challange you to fight. Ever since then akuma has been quite possibly the most deadly warrior in all of fighting game history and here is a look into the man, the myth, the legend.

Akuma (known Gouki in Japan) trained under Goutetsu along with his brother, Gouken. Goutetsu taught them Ansatsuken (Assassin Fist), which is a mixture of karate, judo, and koppo. As the brothers progressed under Goutetsu's teachings, a dispute arose on the true nature of Ansatsuken and the path to master it. Gouken, unable to accept the violent nature of Ansatsuken, left Goutetsu to begin his own dojo. Akuma continued Goutetsu's teachings and vowed to use Ansatsuken as it was intended.

In order to learn Shun Goku Satsu, Akuma embraced the principle of Satsui no Hadou or (The Surge of the Intent to Murder/Murderous Intent). Through Satsui no Hadou, Akuma was forced to give up any compassion he held towards other human beings. In addition, Akuma realized his limits as a martial artist could be expanded, and left Goutetsu's guidance to train alone on an island (Gokuento).  

His return marked the end for Goutetsu... Akuma demonstrated his strength by killing his former master with Shun Goku Satsu. Goutetsu fell with an inner joy, realizing his pupil was attempting to master Ansatsuken. Akuma removed the beaded necklace from Goutetsu's neck and placed it around his own. The following day Akuma challenged and fought his brother. With Gouken gaining the upper hand, Akuma was eventually struck down. Akuma requested death in defeat, however his brother was unable to kill his own kin. Akuma, sensing weakness, mocked Gouken and struck with Shun Goku Satsu. The dojo was filled with a burst of white light and Gouken was killed. Ken saw the flash as he was returning from the U.S. Martial Arts tournament. Rushing to the dojo to find it in shambles and his master dead, an enraged Ken ran into the surrounding woods searching for the killer. Akuma easily defeated Ken and disappeared. Gouken's other student Ryu soon learned of his master's death and began to search for Akuma.

Akuma first fought Ryu at his island, Gokuento, and discovered the potential within him. He destroyed the island and told Ryu to come back when he had embraced the killing intent. However, Ryu rejected it. Akuma now practices to be prepared for a battle with Ryu. He also killed Bison during the SF2 series, the only official result of that game.  

Akuma fights only to test his strength and his opponent's. This means that he will only fight opponents that will provide a challenge, hence his refusal to fight unworthy challengers under any circumstances. Akuma will only kill opponents who are as strong as he, which is why he stopped his fight with Gen after realizing that he was ill. While Akuma killed his brother and his teacher, he did so in the confines of the code of the warrior, where the field of battle does not distinguish between friend and foe. Akuma believes he committed no transgression whatsoever. Also, with the exception of Gouken and Goutetsu, Akuma usually only fights those who challenge him instead of picking fights.

"Akuma" means "Demon" in Japanese. The kanji on the back of his uniform is called "ten." It can mean "sky," "heaven," or "beyond human." Akuma also has a few alternate, more powerful incarnations of himself including: Shin Akuma, Cyber Akuma and Oni Akuma.

Akuma is one of the first Street Fighter characters to really say "evil," besides good old M. Bison of course. Akuma's moves are of course based off of Ken's & Ryu's, which makes sense considering the storyline. In the later of the series, the manner is which he performs his moves became more and more different from Ryu & Ken... cooler maybe? Heh heh. Well, if you didn't know, Akuma adds in a certain "badass factor" to pretty much anything he does. He is an all around badass karate dude, if not THE badass karate dude.

I loved Akuma's 2nd Impact/3rd Strike appearance & fighting style, but honestly his SF4 incarnation disappointed me a bit... he's a bit too "monstrous-looking" in that game and his super moves just don't have the same pop. I think Akuma has looked his best in 2D form. In any case, he's surely one of my all time favorite fighting game characters (and I know I'm not the only one). Finally, Akuma's appearance in MVC3 looks downright epic... potentially his best... incarnation... ever.

First Fallout: New Vegas DLC Exclusive for Xbox 360

360 gets first dibs.

Fallout New Vegas is releasing  tomorrow in the United States. Today,News coming from Bethesda that the first DLC pack will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. No word on when or what this DLC will be, but there will be more news on that in the coming weeks.

Don’t worry PlayStation players, they plan on having more DLC packs in the future, so you will get some too.

So after you spend hours and hours and hours and hours... doing everything there is to do in Fallout:NV don’t worry. There will be plenty of DLC options coming in the future.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 review

What the trade in value on this game right now?!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 = MUA2 for you rehtards! Ok this game is unbelievable. Considering I was just playing that amazing Batman game last week. This is an absolutely terrible super hero game. It's just a beat 'em up, plain and simple and simple it is! The first time I played through it on Super Heroic which is the hardest difficulty you can select. The game did not challenge me at all! I beat it very quickly. I unlocked super ultimate hard. At this point I understood the game and the controls. I take any character that can fly or swing and just fly over the entire level to the boss fights. Ridiculous!

There are other "elements" the developers probably referred to, but they do NOT A GODDAMN THING for the game play. The puzzles are flat out dumb. All of them are just dragging something around on the ground to activate a switch. Who the fuck is testing this game? You have to realize, it's a complete waste of time and is not necessary for this game. Worthless! Fuck. Then there's the dialogue choices. It makes me laugh when I think about how stupid this is. The characters sound so repetitive. None of the choices matter other than to level your characters personality up and get an achievement. In the game characters talk to you, but your character doesn't speak you just select a text, but in the cut scenes everyone one speaks! I can't believe they didn't take the time to have everyone talk to each other, that would have been cool and more a reason for me to select good or evil with some characters. A good Juggernaut and an evil Captain America.

The story starts out leading up to civil war where Captain America goes undergound to fight Ironman and the U.S. Government. A cool story in the comics. About half way through the game that storyline ends and the horrible design of the game just goes into hyper drive.  No Hulk fight?! Maybe they did that in the first game, I don't know I couldn't get through the first two levels it was terrible. You just fight robots and dudes dressed in all black for the entire game. Some of the boss fights are cool, but fighting Yellow Jacket is not a highlight of the game for me.

A splash of my piss has better graphics than this game. Wolverine's claws just push the crates around, I have to switch to Penance and punch the boxes. WTF is a Penance?! Gambit has a giant nose! 

I didn't like the first Marvel Alliance game. I had to play this one and I really did force myself at time. Now I can say with confidence that I have played one for worst games of all time. Some Jimmy in Los Angeles approved this as being a good game. This same Jimmy thought the leveling up system in the game was cool, but didn't realize you could just do auto level up and it doesn't actually matter. Wolverine, Deadpool, Juggernaut and Jean Grey just raip the shit out of the game. I destroyed this game and I did not have a super great time.

 My final verdict:

FUCK IT! 

Jimmy!

Level 50 gathering is all about crystals, spiritbonding & getting stuff you actually need. Most importantly (as always) don't waste any time gathering Jimmy! Wanna know my GPH on crystals? Here's how in this video.

I spend the first half of this video working on -figuring out- spiritbonding. What I think it's coming down is jewelry only. I can try something like what I do with the Warrior. I have a completely different set for that, that is only just to turn into materia. I think I can do the same thing with the gathering, but I haven't tested to see what kind of a drop that would be in my perception. Nobody give a fuck about gathering ... 

In the second half of the video I race myself to see how many crystals & shards I can get in 30 mins. It was about 200 each if I recall. You can watch the video & see just how I did it.

FFXIV ARR Ifrit: Lord Of Inferno Battle Guide

A short Ifrit guide describing all of his moves and how to deal with them.

If you're new to MMO's or Final Fantasy this guide will breakdown the first boss you take on in game, Ifrit. Although he is the first major battle he does prove quite a challenge for beginners and will easily punish you if your party is reckless.

After a lengthy cut scene you will be thrown into the arena to take on the fire demon himself.
Bare in mind that as he is the first boss and your team mates may not understand the mechanics of the battles yet and may make the odd mistake, its always good to go over the battle plan before the fight, people will thank you for it.

SSF4:AE My Yun and Yang Analysis (UPDATE)

So, Bl34tm4n on youtube has uploaded tons of decent quality yun and yang videos (link here http://www.youtube.com/user/Bl34tm4n) After watching all his yun and yang vids i put together my own analysis and comparisons on the chars. What do you guys think? Leave a Comment below :D

(btw I dont know much about fei,gen or rufus, which basically make up alot of yun and yangs movelist, so please make your own comparions and stuff too )

UPDATE: even though yun has a better super, yangs slashes hit multiple times(even if its just one) during his super, applying more chip. also yangs teleport recovery is similiar to juri's? YANG CAN PUNISH BLANKA BALLS WITH U2. he can also punish blanka balls with ex slashes and ex teleport is decent on wakeup. Yun can EX AA into rush. palm atacks can be cancelled. Yang has sweet shoes. Even though Yangs U1 has like no reach (pretty much kara grab range?) it goes through fireballs :D

Starting with Yun, holy shit I can see how Daigo got 16,000BP and an 89% win rate in one day. (who the fuck knows what he has now....btw he has YET to make a ryu play card, it's been 100% yun)

-Yun's Dive Kicks are extremely good, annoying,and applying tons of pressure( they are noticibly slower than rufus's). Also yun can follow the dive kicks up with pretty good pokes and some specials. Also to make it even more Rufus like, yun can dive kick into target combo into FULL ULTRA 1. It's a easy combo thats going to destroy people. yet, since it is such a ridiculous combo, their is scaling to it, so it isnt too ridiculous, but pretty ridiculous. Divekick,lp lp, lk rush non counterhit took off 25% of chuns health.

-Yun's shoulder attack(similiar to Guy's) is much better. Damage is similiar but Guy's is incredibly slow when it is not EX, while Yun's comes out at pretty good speeds. And it is SAFE on block. Low LK(or maybe just LK) to LK shoulder is a sneaky little combo.

-genei-jin and palm attack. People tried to make the excuse that an overpowered genei-jin would be ok because it is hard to build meter, epsecially with how important ex moves and fadc are in this game. Well not when Yun's palm attack builds hefty meter like no other. It not only builds meter fast but it is safe from a distance and has major priority concerning people trying to stop you AND cancels out projectiles. The super only lasts about 10 seconds though.

The Genei-Jin is pretty much like the 3s version. Honestly it is much better than Juri's FSE for easily noticable reasons. First genei-jin has super freeze and comes out rather fast. You will see many yuns dive kick into normal combos and do the super even while the opponent is blocking, simply because you can continue to rush them down right afterwards and ultimately score an overhead or low hit into massive combo. Yun's pokes are also way more effective than Juri's in this state. Also juri cannot do atack combos into her fse and conintue a combo or apply pressure. Also, the lk -> lk shoulder combo i mentioned above, can sucessfully link into super and a continued combo (fucking balls)

Dashing punch even when its not ex(possible FP version) travels incredibly fast and almost full screen, can be a great suprise atack. On block the atack seems like juri's dive kick. only thing you can safely do is block if your opponent blocks it, most likely your poke will loose, BUT, after a blocked one you can super freeze with your super and apply the pressure.

Yun's anti air goes retarted high.

overhead is fucking smooth, just like in 3s.

YANG!  (BEST LOOKING FOCUS ATACK EVER! mantis style bitches)

divekicks on both characters do not break armor. and are not overheads.

Well, the backdash and palm atack are seemingly the same. But his jumping seems to travel further.

divekick not as safe as Yuns on block, OR it could be that yun has better folow-up normals.

comand grab. gotta be in that ASS for the command grab, like, super close for that shit to work. (same for yun)

Rolling attack into anti air.  But it travels very fast across the screen rolling(likes Gens roll) but into a AA, seems extremely sucessful vs fireballs. but the most unsafe thing ever. Also the rolling atack can be linked into slashes or just nothing, not sure if you can grab after, could be a nice mixup.

Slashes. Yangs LP slashes work great in little combos and are safe. really similiar to fei's punch combos and hit confirming from 1,2,3.

Seiei Enbu.  Hm...seems like yun's normals work alot better than yangs. Yang doesn't seem to have the same gaurenteed combo's as his broha.

Big disadvantage after U2 is blocked, yang kinda stands their for like 2 seconds.

sweep seems just like ken's

teleportdash- flashy and fast, travels alot further than ibuki's and is more confusing, looks fun.

 

 

I like Yang better but, Yun seems to have more pressure and alot of pro's are preferring him, blah (even in 3S)

With the right cross class abilities you can manipulate HQ items 3-4 levels ahead of you. You can make a ton of money while leveling up. Read my biggest crafting secrets right now. Watch exclusive video of my techniques in always get HQ items.

I'm buying HQ raw materials & HQing them into more HQ materials. Any material that stacks to 99 is my favorite to level up on. For example. I'll make HQ Dew Thread from HQ Diremite Web I purchased at the market place. There's always some random Jimmy that post a couple real cheap. I buy those until I have a stack of like 60+ & I'm ready to craft. 

Here's a look at what I think our the most important crafting cross class abilities in FFXIV. 

#1 Tricks of the Trade (Alchemy)
It randomly gives you 20CP back. You get this to pop 5 times, that's 100 CP back. Spend that extra CP on another Master's Mend & get 3 more chances. 

#2 Careful Synthesis (Weaver)
Guaranteed. This ability guarantees progress. It'll get yuu slightly less progress than Basic Synthesis, but you can figure out what that number is going to be right away & decide where & how to use this ability. Plan you entire synth around Careful Synthesis being the last thing you do.

#3 Rumination (Carpenter)
This ability also gives you CP back & does not cost any durability.
           "Removes Inner Quiet effect and restores CP proportional to the number of times control was increased."
Turn on Inner Quiet immediately. Wait for a chance to use Tricks of the Trade & move on. Watch any of my crafting videos for this technique.

#4 Hasty Touch (Culinarian)
This move will improve quality with no CP. BUT it's 50/50. I'm not sure if Steady Hand effects this ability. Either way, it is the 4th best ability to choose from. Imagine you're down to 17CP & 20 Durability. Use Hasty Touch for the hell of it. It's a free chance to increase quality.

#5 Rapid Synthesis (Armorer)
Just like Hasty Touch, this ability is 50/50. I really don't know what to say about this ability. It might get you out of a jam if you ever miscalculate a synth or make a mistake. It rushes down progress at 250%.

#6 Waste Not (Leatherworker)
This cost 56CP. I don't like anything that costs CP because I only want to use that for Basic Touch.

#7 Manipulation (Goldsmith)
This cost 88CP! Can't use this, Master's Mend & get 3 or more Basic Touchs off.  It just doesn't work. I can't afford that CP.

#8 Ingenuity (Blacksmith)
             "Lowers recipe level to current level for the next five steps."
I'm already HQing stuff 4-5 levels ahead of me. You can't do stuff 10 levels ahead of you, so why would you ever need this?
