My Wii will be usable again?!
Honestly I have sold off most of my Wii games and my mom uses it for Netflix while i randomly use it for playing GuiltyGear and Capcom vs Snk2 EO like once a month (and random TvC/brawl) Also I have't been into RPG's in like, years, but this game "The Last Story" seems like good stuff. Developed by Mistwalker, the people who brought you BlueDragon, Lost Oddysey and some other stuff.
Apparently the Release date is Janurary 27,2011 in JAPAN, America's release date isn't set yet. The game is single player AND online multiplayer( chance to use wii-speak besides on The Conduit?) So what do you guys think? I'm interested definately, IF the online play isn't fucked.

Pro gamer FnJimmy goes hands-on with Skyward Sword in the Nintendo booth. Watch as he destroys the first demo and has time for another.
FnJimmy and I headed to the Nintendo booth to play some Zelda Skyward Sword. You can choose the bird riding level, a dungeon level, or a boss battle. They only give you a 10 minute demo to keep the lines moving and FnJimmy had played a little bit of the combat last year, so I encouraged him to take on the bird riding.
Most of the people in front of us had tried the bird riding too, none of them seemed able to beat it in the 10 minutes allowed. Noobs... give that Wii mote to FnJimmy and watch him do his best Fred Savage from that one movie from the 80's...
Uhhh... No, the other one...
Yeah, he may be a n00b at FPS games, but FnJimmy was born with a Nintendo controller in his hand. Okay... back to reality... Watch FnJimmy rail the birds so fast he still has time to do the dungeon level. "Good job, Jimmy!"

A sequel that falls short of the original but still a great game.
I don't know if this has already been stated but im a HUGE tales fan. Its my favorite RPG series and of course i was hype beyond all comprehension when i heard that namco bandai was making a sequel to my favorite gamecube game. As a fan you automatically have high expectations for this game because it is a sequel to arguably the best game in the series. So how did it stand up to the greatness of its predecessor? Read on and find out.
The story in Dawn of the New World picks up approximately two years after the events of the original game. As a result of the World Regeneration of the first game, the worlds of Sylvarant and Tethe'alla have become one. However, this isn't as rosy as it all sounds - because of their inferior technology, the people of Sylvarant are oppressed by the Tethe'allans, and the Church of Martel has essentially sided with the Tethe'allans. Because of this, a renegade group known as the Vanguard has risen up to supposedly free the Sylvaranti from their oppression. The town of Palmacosta is caught in the crossfire when Lloyd Irving, the main protagonist from the first game, ravages through the town in an event called the Blood Purge. The new protagonist, Emil Castagnier, watches his parents murdered right in front of his face by the former hero.
Six months later, Emil is living with his aunt and uncle in the town of Luin, shunned by everyone else for hating Lloyd and supposedly bringing bad luck. Here, he meets up with two new characters - Marta, a girl being pursued by the Vanguard, and Tenebrae, a Centurion of the demon lord Ratatosk. In order to protect Marta, who carries Ratatosk's core around on her forehead, Emil forms a pact with Ratatosk, gaining a second personality whenever he is in danger or angry. His new quest is to seek out the eight Centurions' cores in order to awaken Ratatosk and save the world from destruction. Unfortunately, Lloyd Irving and the now sinister Vanguard are after the cores as well, each aspiring to use them for their own devices.
In the beginning, I had loads of questions. Why did Lloyd attack Palmacosta? Why is everyone looking for the Centurions' cores? Is Emil's other personality a result of possession by Ratatosk, or is it another personality deep inside of him? Everything eventually rounds out in the end, but it takes a while for the story to really get going. Plus, Emil's constant bouts of whining, apologizing, and angst grate on the nerves, though he thankfully becomes far less whiny as the story goes on. Despite these minor annoyances, I enjoyed the story a lot. The script is very well written, and there were several moments when I was laughing out loud, especially during the optional skit sequences. There's also plenty of voice acting to flesh out each main character. The story is nothing truly exceptional, but it gets the job done.
One thing often present in RPGs is a gigantic overworld to cross. In Dawn of the New World, that's not exactly the case. Instead of a large, connected world to explore, it's broken up into icons on a world map representing towns and dungeons, navigated through either a menu or point-and-click interface. While some might find this to be a step backwards, I personally was ok with it although i would have preferred the traditional overworld. The experience is a lot less open-ended, as you'll need to progress in a very linear fashion to advance the story. In towns, you'll need to mingle with NPCs for hints at your next objective, which often take you into dungeons filled with sometimes clever, but sometimes bland puzzles. Plenty of characters from the original Symphonia will drop in and out of your party as well, each receiving a fair amount of screen time. This game will take a good amount of time to complete, clocking in at 40-50 or so hours - a good length for most RPGs. The overall progression of the game - town, dungeon, boss, repeat - is very standard, but I had no complaints. I had fun, got in a few laughs, and kept coming back for more. Sometimes that's really all you need.
The music is, all in all, pretty good. You'll notice that a lot of tracks are from Symphonia, while others have been remixed, and still others are completely new. And a lot of the completely new ones are completely awesome. I really don't have much more to say about that - I listen to a lot of music, but I don't make a good critic of it. I can't explain why the music's good, just that it always seems to fit the scene.
The voice acting is pretty good. Not too many voices from the old game are back, but a lot of the replacements are pretty good . The only real problem i had was Lloyd's voice i really wish they would have brought back the original voice actor. The new voice actors are good as well. Emil's voice actor brings back nostalgia of Tales of the Abyss (and Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers), Marta's adds to her character's overwhelming cuteness (but sometimes annoying), and other new characters I haven't mentioned yet, like Richter, have voice actors that fit their personality perfectly.
Alright, those of you that already have Vesperia aren't going to like this part. The graphics aren't fantastic. It's a Wii game, what do you expect? However, that doesn't mean they're bad. They're actually pretty good. Fight scenes are pretty awesome to watch, and, best of all, the cutscenes don't have to stick to the basics of the character models.
What do I mean by that? It's simple. During normal "press A after each text bubble" scenes, each character has a few different animations they have for speaking, acting scared/embarrassed, etc. But during a lot of cutscenes, they seem to be animated almost from scratch. I still prefer the smooth cartoon like cell shading of the first one though.
This game is played solely with the Wii remote and Nunchuk. There's no option for Gamecube, Classic, or any other kind of control, but it doesn't really matter - Namco Bandai pulled off the controls almost flawlessly. There's no need to worry about forced or excessive motion control use - you'll really only use the pointer for the Sorcerer's Ring, which is a key element in several puzzles, and the occasional shake or flick for some minigames. You can move around in towns or dungeons using either the analog stick or the pointer and B button, though the former is much preferred. You initiate combat by coming in contact with monsters on the field - touching them from behind gives you the upper hand, as all monsters start out stunned. Yes, I know it's a bit dumb to be happy over this, but even if you can't see exactly what you're fighting, you should at least know when it's happening.
Combat is an absolute joy, and one of the game's high points. You are in direct control of Emil, while competent AI takes over your partners. You can move left or right in a 2D plain with only the analog stick, or hold Z and move around for a free run, which allows you to get a better positioning on your enemies. Motion controls are thankfully not forced, as attacking is handled with the A button, while Emil's Artes are used with the analog stick and B button. You can use more Artes with the D-pad or by shaking the Wii remote in a certain direction, but I never really used these - it's tough remembering the button assignments of 12 different Artes at a time. Once the Unison Gauge at the bottom of the screen is full enough, you can combine multiple party members for a Unison Attack with the C button. In short, combat is fast-paced, occasionally challenging, and a blast to play.
Outside of battle, you can assign Emil's Artes to the analog stick and B button, and customize your party with equipment and passive Skills. Most of the human characters who drop in and out of your party have fixed levels and equipment. Therefore, the rest of your party will consist primarily of monsters you can capture and train. As a Knight of Ratatosk (hence the Japanese title), Emil can form pacts with monsters, adding them to his party, and then strengthening them through battle and cooking food at Katz Guilds scattered throughout the world. You can also use Katz Guilds to accept side quests and swap monsters in and out of your party (since you can only take four with you at any given time). The monster-raising system is surprisingly deep, but whether you exploit it or not is your choice. You can take whatever you manage to accidentally stumble upon, or put some real effort into it and raise some extremely overpowered beasts. Your monsters can evolve when they get to a certain level so in that regard its just like pokemon.
Final Verdict: BUY IT
All in all, Dawn of the New World has earned its place among the Tales games. The story will get you started, the characters will drag you in, the battle system will keep you going, and everything else melds in to pull you closer to it all. It may not be what I expected, maybe not even what most of us did, but that doesn't make it worse than previous games. So i think all wii owners should give this a try tales fan or not as long as you enjoy a good RPG you should enjoy this one. Any wii owners out there? Let us know and don't be a jimmy.
I tried to play through this game and couldn't even make it through the first couple parts. I loved the story and voice acting but I had a real problem with the controls.
Don't get me wrong, this is a good game. My problem with it is that I can't seem to get the hang of the control scheme. I grew up playing Golden Eye and other analog based FPS and then stopped playing all together for about 5 years before starting up on the Wii. The idea of a point and shoot interface was always a dream of mine so when I saw this game I got excited. Unfortunately I can't seem to get around the wavy loose constantly moving screen to make any shots. I hope the fault is all on me and that my wii is just not setup properly but I fear it's not the case.
I did watch videos of the storyline on youtube and loved how they played out the story and even the voice acting was pretty good for a wii game. I like just about everything about this game except the controll system. I wish they would allow you to use the nunchuck to look around like in the old school FPS's and the directional pad on the wii-mote to move forward and strafe left and right. If you could revert to that this game would rock for an old timer like myself.
All that said I don't own the classic controller or anything to try and see if that option is available. I heard it is but I haven't checked and I never read instructions because I'm impatient to play the game.
I definitely say rent this game and give it a once over to see if you're up to the controls before putting hard earned cash down.
Graphics I give a solid 4 out of 5
The visuals for wii games are always crap compared to PS3 and Xbox 360 but in this case I feel Sega really took the time to make pleasingly realistic low res visuals that still seem to pop on my 1080p TV. I also love the evironmental interaction with walls and glass and stuff. Remember that the last FPS I played was on the Game Cube and that was a very limited piece of hardware compared to our current systems.
Audio I give a 5 out of 5
Mainly for the voice acting since I love it when a game keeps moving rather than pausing to read people's dialog. Also I just loved the music and sound effects. The audio gave it a good feature film vibe that I dig when playing action shooters.
Controls I give 1 out of 5
I say this only because I couldn't figure it out. I'm sure there are seasoned pros that picked this game up and just blew through it making head shots right and left. I just couldn't master it and it depressed me to finally have what I always wanted in a game and not be able to use it. Someday I want to sit down with a developer and have them make my vision of perfect FPS controls something that combines elements of analog and D-pad controls with the point and shoot of a light gun game. I just don't want to control my looking around with the point and shoot interface. I want them seperate.

Story for me is the most important thing. I like to read good books and watch deep films and play epic games. I love Final Fantasy VI for instance. Story means everything and this game showed me an interesting tale even though I was unable to make it that far into it or see how it played out. So since I'm basing this on what I saw I give it a 4 because I liked where it was going and also because I don't know where it went. Could of been 5 if I got to see the end but I feel a 4 is fine for what I saw.
I know this review is not much of a review and most will probably shit all over it and call me an idiot which is fine since I am. But since I didn't get far I would love to see comments telling me what I missed.
GoldenEye007 is a game developed by Eurocom and published by Activision and is a Wii exclusive that is scheduled to be released this holiday season
With the classic gameplay, all these first person shooters are trying to replicate, GoldenEye for the N64 will always imitated but never be duplicated. The story line, that wasn't afraid to deviate from the movie, single player gameplay and most importantly, the multi-player experience, will never be retold, until now!
The build I was able to play, was in the multi-player mode. Eight character you can choose from including Odd Job, the smug bastard that would throw his top hat and kill you. Yeah, he's here and that's his grenade skills! With the Will in mind, they used the classic controller on this.

The gameplay, while it may have taken a while to get use to, and the dude that was in there that played the crap out of it, is FUN! You can aim and shoot. Just put your cross hair on the guy and kill him. The level I played was a great remake of the classic, just updated to feel fresh! And they did. The new feature that is now standard in today's games, are a sprint button and aim using your iron sight. Once you get the hang of it, that guy is GONE! It's such a fun and nostalgic experience that left me wanting more.
It featured four player split screen and eight player online and features a brand new story mode It will be a must buy for the Wii and classic N64 owner.
Nyko has an amazing controller for the Wii and yes it's real. Optimal for only 3 games.
Type Pad Pro for Wii
I just had to do some research to make sure this was a real apparatus. It's true. Optimal for games like and Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter Tri. It would probably work well with your Wii browsers when you want to check Gouki.com on your Wii. Who is doing that? Is that a privilege 5 year olds get now? BTW 5 years old should not be reading this site.

Batman beat-em up game FTW!!
We only got a few minutes to play the game. Adam from developer WayForward[too far forward, for FNJImmy] was there to help us out. The game is a simple beat-em up like classic Ninja Turtles games. Batman and depending on the level/stage, Batman’s partner will be different. Theres TONS of weapons and gadgets and power-ups. You can throw each other into bad guys, you can throw bad guys and then catch and pwn them from your partner.
Here’s where it gets crazy, Adam pulls out a Nintendo DS and drops into the game on the fly with Bat-mite. First he starts healing and helping Jimmy and I, then he starts dropping classic Warner Bros. Acme anvils and 1 ton blocks onto our domes. So Bat-mite can be played as helpful or annoying. Cool ad on and the fact that he can just drop in and out is really cool. Also when you’re playing single player, second player can also jump in and out on the fly. Gotta pee, like FNJimmy piss pants? Drop out real quick and let the computer play. Hell I’ll probably have a better chance. Enough of this, watch the video featuring FNJimmy.

Seriously, giant enemy crab!!
Hey you know me. I'm much better talking into the camera with a giant grin on my face after I just played one of my most highlt exciting for games. Better this than me trying to write what I remember a week later.
Team Ninja gets there first go at the Zelda franchise.
Last night it hit the interwebs that the next main game in the Zelda series is in development and is being headed by Team Ninja. Nintendo has seen the great success this developer is having with their project Metroid: Other M and worked out a deal to also work on another of Nintendo's beloved series.
Not much info is known about the game yet. What is known is that Link is supposed to be faster, stronger and all-around more bad-ass. The elves of Kakariko village have ancient techniques stored that they will teach to Link, such as teleportation, elemental magic and using two swords at once! More information to come soon!
The language is Japanese ... either way, you know it's looking bad ass.
Metroid is one of My favorite series of all time. I tell people that Super Metroid is my favorite game of all time. I hated the Wii motion controlled(pre-set waggle) version of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. I hope this new Metroid doesn't suck. What do you think? Watch the new trailer ...
Nintendo names and shows the new Zelda during their keynote.
The first thing on Nintendo's stage this morning: Zelda - and the name of the new Zelda title: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Not the greatest name in my book, but oh well - how's it look?
Skyward Sword appears to have Link as an adult, but wait - am I seeing cel-shading? Why yes, I think I am! Skyward Sword has a more realistic look than Wind Waker, but it's still laced with a cel-shaded look that I find to personally be quite unappealing. I don't know; you'll have to judge the look for yourself, but as of yet I've not found any official screenshots.
The game uses the Wii Motion Plus and seems to have true one-to-one motion for sword fights. The one-to-one combat ends up being a critical part of the gameplay, because enemies will be required to be hit from certain angles at times in order to defeat them. I admit that the gameplay looks to have some really cool aspects, and it really does look like Nintendo has evolved Zelda and made something that combines Zelda and the Wii perfectly.
Skyward Sword; one-to-one fighting; a little bit of cel-shading (ugh). This is the next Zelda.

EDIT: Miyamoto just confirmed that Skyward Sword will not be out in 2010; it will come out some time in 2011.
A low budget Fighting game published by Sega developed by the Jimmys that made The Conduit. This is a Wii Exclusive.
This looks like it has some potential for a few rounds of combat at least. High Voltage Games also developed The Conduit another Wii Exclusive, which is kind of a cult hit now. Check out the video below and leave a comment, let me know what you think. Jimmy!
