After spending close to 200 hours (!!!) on this game, what's still interesting? Plus new info on the Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC.
When we first got our hands on this game we played through it in co-op, beating the game around level 34. The second play through gave a greater challenge and allowed us to max our characters out at level 50 (the highest level until the new DLC comes out) but we stopped and didn't beat the second play through. We thought we were done and had seen everthing the game had to offer. WRONG.
Starting with the release of the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC (see our review), we returned to planet Pandora (no relation to Avatar). While the Zombie expansion provided some new sights and enemies, we again quit playing once it was pwned.
Next came the Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot expansion (review here). This gave us a bank to hold weapons (finally!) and gave you a nice arena to test out any new weapons you've found towards the end of the game on enemies actually at your level. While this DLC was not without problems (purple text on orange backround for one) it did open up a whole new reason to keep playing... finding newer guns and mods and testing them out with different charcter skill tree builds. So now I can still play even for just to kill a few minutes by searching for loot, it is strangely addicting, but you should see some of these guns, Jimmy! Pwnn! When more time is available (not much since Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 dropped) I like to search for loot, change up my character's skill points and test out the different builds to see what works best.
I think I've spent a lot of time in this game and know all there is to know and have seen all there is to see (again) then I see someone post something like this and realize that some people must've played this game 3x as much as I have... Insane. This game is a cult classic for sure.
I'm looking forward to the new DLC "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx" which will supposedly raise the level cap and pit us against even stronger, armored enemies. (Sounds alot like Broken Steel for Fallout 3, which was my favorite DLC of last year.) They're sure to fall against some of the equipment I have now, but, being an "armory" I expect new weapons and gear!
Update: We still don't know what the max level will be, but it will be at least 61 as evidenced by this new achievment:
