More of me just rambling about EVO from day 2. Hope you enjoy my nonsense.
I'm sitting down to write this a day later, I was there until almost 1am last night. Yesterday was another epic day at EVO.
We arrived around 11:30am and met up with Vicko, who was doing his mods in the Mad Catz booth. This Jimmy is pro status in the modding community. I'd let him touch my stick anytime. He was chillin' with Fanatiq back there probably fixing his paid, rumor is Fanatiq pounds one of the bumpers and is always wrecking the sensor. Shout out to pad players, I love it!
Vicko's pool play was at 12 Noon and he was going to represent for Gouki.com and wear our shirt while he played. Much love for that, I really appreciate that kind of support. We filmed all of his matches and I will post them on Gouki later this week. Unfortunately he didn't make it out of his pool, but he put up a helluva a fight and was very exciting to watch. I want to scream and cheer for him, but I was extremely focused on capturing his matches. I shot it off-screen and I tried my best to keep the screen in frame.
Just as Vicko finished his match, another Las Vegas local Ruin was on the main stage fighting Mame Spider. I captured this on film as well, but I'm not sure if Ruin would like me to share it. Probably not. Ruin was defeated by Mame spider in a great match. I was really proud to see Las Vegas on the main stage.
Lunch time. Trying to stand perfectly still and capture these matches was taking a toll on my frail white ass. We trekked over the Imperial Palace and ate a place called Quesadilla. They served Mexican food, if you couldn't figure that out. They also had $3 Coronas, which was way better than the $7 we were paying for beers the the day before. I had 3 chicken tacos for lunch, they were excellent. I wish I remembered the name of the hot sauce, that was the best part.
When we got back to EVO I had to pee like 3 times. Fuck me. At least my ass was dripping or even worse, bleeding. Speaking of a bleeding ass, I got to finally see My Little Pony - Fighting is Magic. For the longest time I didn't even this think this game was real. Well I finally saw it yesterday and I got some off-screen footage which I'll be posting later this week. The game was running in a 4x3 screen on a PC. It looked a little dated graphically, but from what I can tell the fighting seem to have combos and wall bounces like fighting games. I didn't get a change to play it because the Bronies playing would not share the stick. The most disgusting one of the bunch was explaining to me how the game worked. He had long dirty fingernails. That is an instant classification of disgusting. Unacceptable don't be a Jimmy! Anyway, the buttons are l, m, h, and Magic. That's about all the info I got out of it, since I couldn't play and there was nobody there to talk to about the game.
Right now live in the Gouki.com offices we're watching the Mortal Kombat top 8. I'm going to have a shot in accompany to my beer.
Fuck yeah! Feeling good now, back to my half assed memory of yesterday. So we split with BatRastered and I stayed at EVO with PrettyMiwa and Guano. I had no idea where Guano was so I was just snapping shot of the venue. I spoke to Keits for a moment, introduced myself, asked for any advice for getting a mjor tournament organized here in Las Vegas and we spoke briefly about DiveKick. Keits was super awesome. Ran over and talked to Markman realy quick. Markman is the guy in charge of getting the EVO fightsticks lost in customs. lol. Shout out to Markman.
EVO was really packed at this point and Ultmiate was coming down the quarterfinals and a lot of people were already packing into the fron to watch. Not long before it was standing room only. I got to see a match on SFxT with Mike Ross and Combofiend. Mike Ross looked awesome with his Marduk, but the girl in front of us couldn't stand still and I was bobbing and weeving just trying to watch the match.
Then I hear Guano shouting from a distance to come and sit down to watch the Marvel quarter finals. Yo we sat there for like 5 hours watching the best players in the country in some of the most exciting matches and unique teams I've ever seen. Filipino Champ is on a tear right now and I'd loved to see that Modok in the finals against his Phoenix. We got out of there around 12:30. Another great day at EVO. Now I'm gonna chill and watch the finals from home. Watching Mortal Kombat now, this game is really good, watching high level play.
Vote, Comment and Share. Don't be a Jimmy!
I haven't read over anything above. :) That's why this is a blither blathering blog. Thanks for reading.
