Today was a blur, I had a huge breakfast and from there on out everything was a mess. So I shall try and recall some of the today's highlights.
Almost immediately from leaving the hotel we run into the cat man. Some Jimmy on his way to PAX with those mechanical brain wave cat ears on. He didn't have a pass either. Then he was out of batteries and he went into panic mode over his ears. He warned us that he was a weirdo and that he too, was on his way to PAX. I told him I didn't even realize he was there with his cat like reflexes.
Then some other random Jimmy shoots out from the parking lot and stops the catman. This was all happening very fast. So I stepped in up a notch, trying to get away from the cat man ASAP. Thank you random Jimmy. Seconds later the cat man runs to catch up with us. BatRastered asked, what did that guy want? Did he want drugs? The cat man mumbled something and then ran ahead of us.
First we had an interview with the Marvel Heroes guys. Marvel Heroes lead director is the same guy that made Diablo II. So yes, this game looks just like Diablo. This game is 100% free. Although we couldn't figure out how they planned to make money with it. From what I understood, they're going to sell costume pieces. All the XP and and characters are free to use.
We're chilling in the executive suite in the Hyatt. This Jimmy is coming in and telling us they can't do anything. The TV has been broke for a month. This is the same guy I just Twat about earlier. Oh I can't be making any sense. Back to PAX.
FnJimmy demanded that we head to the Nintendo booth to see what was new with the Wii-U. We found Project P-100, BatRastered claimed this game was playable at E3 as well. That means FnJimmy and I both missed this? I don't think so. Colors, beautiful colors. It's from the same Jimmys that made Veiwutiful Joe. There were at least 20 different little characters running around on the screen in brilliant detail. The city, stages and bosses were also wonderful to look at. There was a tank that would fire like an old 50's cartoon cannon, sucking in, puffing out and blasting. Imagine Pikmin meets a super heroes team-up game.
Then we played AirMech, wtf this game? I don't know. There's like 40 little pictures on the screen you can click. You are some kind of Mech that can transform into a plane and a robot. There is some sort of multiplayer aspect, but I didn't get to test that because I was booted out the game almost immediately. It froze the game up for everyone. I heard one the hosts of the booth on the other side say:
"Oh somebody probably crashed their computer."
I peaked my head through the TV setup and told him, yeah that was me. He laughed. I was still sitting there with a locked up screen and no sound coming out of the headset. I eventually got to play the tutorial, since there was no way for me to join back into a local game. Really? Demo this for sure before you buy it.
Mark of the Ninja is a new game from the same Jimmys that brought you Shank. It looks a lot like Shank. You are a Ninja in a sort of MetroidVania type game. Hiding in the shadows and doing stealth kills. Everything about this game looks like fun. I love this style. Easy sale. BTW, it comes out next week if you've nver heard of it.
Then we stopped by the handheld lounge and let me tell you, this was deadest place of the show. There was no music, no game noise, no chatter. Just some nuab passing out stickers for some PAX game. There was no energy at all. Why wasn't there any Mario Kart screaming and yelling going on? There's was at least 40 people camped out on giant beanbags playing on handheald. Dead silence. FnJimmy played the Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. I think it looks cool. I loved that GameCube game.
Swung through the Metal Gear Rising booth, if you pre-order the game, you would get an exclusive PAX MGR t-shirt. Got 3 t-shirts. Pre-orders canceled from phone. Don't be a Jimmy!
We rushed our Nvidia meeting. I was going to get to play Sim City finally. Well we got there and another group was waiting too. So we had to share our time(I mean we imposed on their time) with them. All we got was some Jimmy rambling on about computer specs for a good 10-12 minutes. I had no idea what anyone was talking about. I just want to play Sim City. That didn't happen. We need to get up to the XCOM panel early so we can get in. Shout outs to 2K's PR team for helping us out. Got to sit second row. Unfortunately, I found the panel pretty boring. I was fighting to stay awake at some points. The panel was about stuff that didn't make it into the game. Some of it was entertaining and fun, but I still don't know how the bases work in the fuckin' game and I'm dying to know. Probablly won't figure any of that out until the game is in my hand. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
We was out after that. I got a couple of Cosplay pics today and 2 videos of FnJimmy. I'll post those later this week.
