Borderlands 2 Axton the Commando build guide

By: BatRastered Mar 30, 2013 | 1 Comments

Axton has quickly moved up my list of favorite characters in BL2, his turret action skill is quite good on its own, but with the right skills and weapons you can do the work of two players by yourself.

First the Survival Tree, I'm not a big fan of this.

Build here: http://talent.87bazillion.com/2/commando.php?41030000005500010000055050130151

You can see the relative offensive weakness of this build at about 4:45 in the video I throw a turret on each side of a basic loader, and I still have to kill it myself. I don't recommend the turret without the rocket pods. :) If you had 3 more points you could get the Scorched Earth rocket pods too. So with the 11 levels coming April 2, that's what I'd suggest first. If I did this over, I'd probably go with the rockets over the longbow just for the damage boost, but mag-lock without longbow is not very useful and Battlefront (extra damage when the turret is out for all your guns and grenades) is just so damn useful that I can't really recommend either version of this build unless you get the level cap DLC and get all 3 this build falls apart.

Now the Guerilla tree, the fun starts to pick up.

This is a good damage build with decent survivability. It allows the turret to slag, which is useful and will be even better in the upcoming third play through. The turret also has rocket pods and a shield. As far as Axton himself, he gets to carry 5 extra grenades and his shield will be recharging quickly most of the time. This is a good build that will only get better with the 11 new levels, allowing you to either add longbow and battlefront or get the twin Gemini turrets. Very versatile.

Finally we get to Gunpowder. NUKE!

This build is a great all around build as well, you still get the rocket pods from Guerilla and a good amount of defense, but you get a ton of DPS both from your nuke turret (basically an awesome, rechargeable grenade) and the use of the Battlefront skill. You'll note the Kerblaster assault rifle in the video shoots a projectile that explodes, drops a grenade and explodes again. This works with all the grenade damage boost skills too so this is my current favorite high DPS build. With 11 more skill points you can reach the slag turret too (double up, at the bottom of Guerilla tree) which will make this build very useful for the third play through. Also, nuking things is fun. :)

The original Borderlands combined an interesting blend of RPG and FPS into what Gearbox called a RPS (role playing shooter). Now that the idea has been proven and Gearbox has had the opportunity to perfect their recipe with a sequel, how does it turn out?

Note: I'll try to refrain from any story spoilers in this review...

It's no secret that we here at the Gouki.com HQ have been hyped about Borderlands 2 for quite some time now. It started way back at PAX Prime 2011 when I interviewed Jeramy Cooke and we got to see a non-playable demo. We got to play a demo at E3 2012 and interviewed Jeramy again. This is all in addition to the hundreds of hours we've all put into the first game.

Borderlands 2 cast of characters

Anyway, Borderlands 2 opens up a few years after the first game has ended. The vault opening in the first game has caused a new element "Eridium" to come to the surface all over Pandora. This has lead to the spoiling of some environments with a toxic residue known as "slag". You can now find slag weapons that basically de-buff an enemy causing your other weapons to do 2x the damage while the bad guy is slagged. The discovery of all this has to lead the Hyperion corporation lead by the villainous Handsome Jack, to try and take over Pandora, exploiting it for their own profit by any means necessary... this means mostly killing off the local population. A resistance group has formed with the characters from the first game as its leaders and after being left for dead by Jack, you will join this group in their fight against Hyperion. The story is quite a massive improvement from the original game... there is more interactive dialog and the objectives are dynamic as information about the mission changes and twists in the tale are revealed.

Batman Arkham City Co-Op with the Joker trailer

By: BatRastered Jan 26, 2011 | 16 Comments

Is Batman teaming up with the Joker in the next game?

This video makes it look like the Dark Knight is getting a helping hand from the Joker in the latest adventure from Rocksteady. You can even do team moves where the Joke gives Batman a boost or Batman hurls Joker towards an inmate for a take down.

There's no official news on this yet, and this trailer was from a French site, so who knows.

I'm speculating that this is a whole different game mode, similar to the challenge mode in the first game, where you can co-op through it. I doubt this will happen in the main story. What do you think? Will we see other team-ups in this mode?

Watch me play and discuss Batman: Arkham Asylum, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Halo 3: ODST. Win Brutal Legend or Modern Warfare 2 on Gouki.com! Uncharted 2: Among Thieves!

GoukiJones discovers how to level up easily in Borderlands 2 with the Mechromancer. From the Gouki.com LIVE stream on twitch.tv/goukijones.

Apologies for the audio. The echo is from my speakers in the living room. The lag, I didn't realize that was happening during the stream. Too much PWNn I think. It gets better. Keep watching.

Anyway. It's pretty clear in the video & during the cut scenes & the credits, I'm getting EASY XP from my robot railing every RAKK in the sky. Keep this pro-tip in mind on your first playthru with YOUR Mechromancer. Don't be a Jimmy!

PonyKart another fan made game for My Little Pony

By: Aragrist Jan 26, 2012 | 4 Comments | Updated: Feb 20, 2012

This was just released today on Equestria Daily. It seems that a new game developer has thrown their hat into the creation of a freeware fan game for the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This time it's Kart Racing.

Have a look at the PreAphla design. It's a very Mario Kartish style game that currently copies the graphic style as well. Being that this is an early build of a fan made game these visuals could change dramatically over the next month or two and more closely resemble the shows visuals rather than Mario Karts visuals. Still this is impressive stuff coming from a new start up in the Indie game developers arena.

Xbox Booth E3 2013 GJ vs FNJ Exclusive Video

By: goukijones Jun 30, 2013 | 1 Comments

GoukiJones & FnJimmy talk about Microsoft at E3 2013.

I'm not super hype for the Xbox One. What does it have Dead Rising 3? Halo 5 in 2014. I'm over this 343 shit. I gave 4 a good run, I don't want to play that anymore. Destiny I'll play on PC if not, PS4, it'll be $100 cheaper. Don't be a Jimmy!

Thanks for watching.

Review Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

By: BatRastered Oct 27, 2010 | 14 Comments

A new chapter in the Starkiller saga, does it live up to the hype?

The first Force Unleashed game did not get very good reviews, and I almost didn't play it. I'm glad I gave it a chance though. It turned out to be one of my favorite Star Wars games. I'm really not sure what it is about these games that some of the mainstream press doesn't like but I've heard some mixed reviews of the sequel already.

If you've played the first game, you already know how this works. You are Starkiller (or are you his clone?), and you can smack down waves of stormtroopers with your lightsabers (yes, you are dual wielding now) blast enemies out of the sky with force lightning, push them off the side of a bridge, or, new to the sequel, Jedi mind trick them into attacking their friends or committing suicide. You can link all these talents together to produce some awesome combos. They really got the combat right with this, it is great fun to take on waves of enemies.

The baddies themselves are a little less varied than the first game, but there's more than enough here to keep you busy. Stormtroopers are your basic fodder, they are trivially easy to destroy even in large numbers which helps you pull off some cool looking moves. There are also riot troopers who can block your lightsaber attacks, but are vulnerable to force powers. Sith acolytes are strong force users who can block your force powers but are vulnerable to you saber attacks. When the level designers throw a pack of both Riot troopers and Sith acolytes at you at the same time, things finally get interesting. Add in a lumbering shielded droid that shoots carbonite into the mix, and you will be really tested.

The first Force Unleashed was a decent looking game, but it pales in comparison to the Force Unleashed II. The textures on all the enemies are much improved and the in-game cut-scenes look incredible. There are occasional pre-rendered cut scenes too, they look incredible of course. Technically, everything has been upgraded from the first game, the loading times are much improved and the menus are much simpler and easier to use. The music is exactly what you'd expect in a Star Wars game, featuring your favorites you know and love.

The game is not overly long, but it's not too short either. My first playthrough (on normal difficulty) lasted about 7 hours.

The story was one of the strongest points of the original game. I still say I like it better than any of the movie prequels. Given the ending in the original it's understandable that the story suffers a bit now as there are a few contrivances (are you or aren't you a clone?) but it still holds up pretty well. Lucasarts did leave room for another sequel with the ending this time, I guess they learned that lesson, but it does cost this story a little bit. Overall, I still enjoyed it quite a bit more than any of the prequel movies, so if your a Star Wars fan, this alone should be a selling point.

The only negative things I can really say about Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II are that the cut scenes are not skippable and the game doesn't have much replayability unless you either like going through a second time to get a different ending or to try a higher difficulty.

Verdict: Buy it.

All gamers know that controllers break down and stop working after hours upon hours of usage, but what if I told you that there was a controller out there that could handle all of that AND it was one of a kind, made just for you? Well, there is....

Gamers across all platforms have come across an ongoing problem within our hobby: CONTROLLERS BREAKING. If you’re anything like me, you’ve gone through a few dozen controllers throughout your gaming career and are SICK OF IT. That’s a lot of money that could’ve been put towards new games and even my Xbox Live subscription! However, I’ve gotten my hands on my very own Xbox Design Lab controller that I think is the solution to our problems. I know most of you are thinking that The Lab is purely for cosmetic customization, which is what it’s supposed to be, BUT I’ve found out that they can be much more than that.

Animal abuse in Madden NFL 11 commercials

By: goukijones Sep 5, 2010 | 9 Comments

The new Madden NFL 11 commercials can't be showing kids the proper way to care and love animals.

No no no it's not real animal abuse. I'm sure PETA was there during all of the filming. They are funny and full of ingenuity . There perfect lessons children should learn to decieve their parents in order to fulfill their video games habit. I remember when I was a kid, doing anything and everything I could, so I could have as much time as I wanted to test those new Game Genie codes I just got. However I do not endorse tying the dog to the treadmill while the dad stands there encouraging it. lol.

This next commercial reminded me of my childhood. Minus the torturing of animals. Good job mom, for doing such a kick ass job of supervising your kids arts and crafts session.

Just to be fair this next commercial mixes in some child neglect.

This is a sarcastic article. I really think it's just good marketing and I wanted to share these videos with Gouki.com.

What do you think of these ads?

What are some of your favorite video games commercials?
