SFxT Giveaway - Heihachi and Akuma: The Iron Fists of Death

By: sNsKid Feb 26, 2012 | 9 Comments

Akuma and Heihachi make plans to kick ass. Whether it be each other's ass or the rest of the Street Fighter X Tekken roster is still undecided.

Street Fighter X Tekken is a game I never thought I'd ever see (in an official capacity anyway). There's no denying that I've always wondered what it would be like if Akuma and Heihachi met. What's most intriguing to me about the pairing of Akuma and Heihachi is how different and similar they are. Sure Heihachi may look silly (see below) and love to make himself laugh, but he's just as much the power hungry remoreless ass kicker that Akuma is. We're talking about someone who threw his own son over a cliff just because he didn't want a pansy for a son. (I still question why he adopted Lee, but that is neither here nor there.)

Akuma lives for the fight and he just doesn't have a rat's ass to give if you have a problem with it. That includes his master and his brother. Akuma beatdown Gouken so bad this fool was in a coma until Ryu grew up. I'd love to see Oni Akuma taunting Heihachi because he can't seem to get the devil gene away from Kazuya and Jin. What would be even better is if Akuma helped the king of iron fist learn some dark hadou.

Regardless of what the outcome of their initial meeting is, one would be hard-pressed denying what their combined efforts could accomplish. They would totally be The Iron Fists of Death.

R.I.P. Gouri Daisuke. You were the one and only voice of Heihachi and Edgemaster.

Potential Street Fighter X Tekken Team: Vega & Steve Fox.

By: Arthvader Feb 9, 2012 | 7 Comments

Here are my reasons of why I'll most likely use these characters in SFXT.

I took a long good look at the roster for some time now and realized I could do good with the following two characters:

Vega from Street Fighter,

and Steve Fox from Tekken.

Let me explain Vega first, as I have more history involving this narcissistic madman from Spain. I remember, a long time ago, back when I used to play Street Fighter  II on the SNES, He would always be one of the few opponents I would always have problems dealing with, no matter what character I used. He always was moving one step ahead of me, taking advantage of the situation. Eventually, when I finally defeated him,I felt a sense of relief. I gave him an 8/10 on the difficulty meter on that version.

Fast Forward a couple years later. Street Fighter Alpha 3 was out on consoles. I played it with a friend every time we meet up to have some fun. this was probably the first time I got to try Vega, although I wasn't much fond of using him, remembering all of what I had to deal with back in Street Fighter II. Much to my expectations, I was messing up a lot, which ended up with many defeats using Vega (Gen is my Main in the Alpha series since 2). Since then, when I had the chance, I would go and practice using Vega whenever my friend brought it over.

When the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection came out on the PS2 back in 2004, I rented it, and played alot of Hyper Street Fighter 2. Through this port, This is were I finally started embracing the use of charge characters, as Vega would finally be an asset for me to use. After running through the game multiple times, each time using a different version of Vega (Champion edition, Turbo, Super, & Super Turbo), Vega had become a powerhouse for me. I later bought the anniversary edition when it came out on the Xbox a year later.

Moving on to 2009, when I finally got my Xbox 360, I purchased Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and put my Vega skills to the test in online battles. This is where I truly used Vega as a main, and not a secondary, and I ended up putting in many victories, both in ranked battles, and in friendly competitions with my online buddies. His unique style of attacks, evasive moves, and the Flying Barcelona Attack were key parts in my play style.

As you can see, I definitely had a lot of history with Vega, both annoying and great. As for why I would like to use him in Street Fighter X Tekken: He's a main in previous street fighter games, and i would like to apply my experience to him in this game.

When it come to Steve Fox, I might not have as much history with him as I did with Vega, but I'm still have my experiences with him. The first time I tried using him was in Tekken 4, in which he made his debut. Unlike any of the other characters in the roster, Steve Fox doesn't kick (that's right, he doesn't kick, unless you get him to do a jump kick in the air). Instead, like any boxer, he would bob and weave, dodging any attacks depending on the situation, as well as giving him opportunities to use other attacks as moves around. I took the time to getting used to him, and he eventually became one of my more frequently used characters in the series.

With Tekken 5, Steve pretty much stayed the same way, although he suddenly became a secondary, just because of the fact that I started picking up on Law (who i was familiar with in previous Tekken games), and Eddy (who truly had returned, not counting the unlockable version of him in Tekken 4). Here, I learned more about using him with each fight that I went through. It wasn't an easy road, but in the end, he still proved to be a favorite for me.

When it comes to Tekken 6, Steve Fox is one of the many characters I use, alongside Lars, Bob (Which I don't know why I started picking him up), and Mokujin (random style, possible reason for picking up Bob, seeing as how every two out of three battles, I end up with Bob style). Just like the other games he was in, Steve's ability to dodge and weave through his opponent's attack proved very useful. That and the ability to pull some tricky highs and lows makes him a fierce contender.

That's pretty much my history with Steve Fox. In the end, I see much potential in using Steve in Street Fighter X Tekken. I have a feeling, since he won't be kicking, I see him having the kick buttons either being different punches (just like Dudley), or his unique evasive options. can't wait to pick him up.

Well, That's pretty much the reasons why I would use Vega and Steve Fox as a team in Street Fighter X Tekken. two unique characters with a twist. I can't wait for this game to come out in March.

First 21:07 mins w/ Street Fighter X Tekken

By: goukijones Mar 5, 2012 | 2 Comments

Watch me get destroyed online. Watch how broken the online is. It'll be patched soon. Something is definitely wrong with the sound. A quick look at the generic team story lines. King trials. Poison's wonderful man breasts. Shout out to Capcom!

I've played the Street Fighter X Tekken since I made the video above. I'm enjoying it. I'm learning a lot with Hugo and King. I really like King. Some of the moves in the game are very unique. King has up forward and M for like a rising knee kick. It's pretty sweet and it chains four times in a 6 hit combo. Hugo has down, neutral, down and M for a rising knee. Yeah, I love it.

Keep an eye on the live stream twitch.tv/goukijones for a lot of training and special events this week.

If you'd like to play against any of Team Gouki, on PS3 or Xbox, leave a comment below. Don't be a Jimmy!

Sf x Tekken team combos including Sagat and Hwoarang! -UPDATED-

By: iorilamia Jun 7, 2011 | 2 Comments

A video taken from E3, showing Hwo, Sagat and character select screen. Also other videos from Capcom Unity.

Hwoarang is my favorite Tekken character so when they did his teaser reveal, my hype exploded (also since Juri is my main, the possibility of having both of them is delightful!). http://www.youtube.com/user/GamingTrendVideos2 has been awesome enough to get a vid of him in action a long with Sagat, enjoy.

So what do you think? It's cool that they implemented his Flamingo Stance. Unfortunately the guy playing just got...destroyed and didn'[t do much of anything cool. But Hwo looks like hes having really good pokes in this game and his jump properties look just like Juri's , lol.

Sagat on the other hand is looking like Sagat. The King lives on ;)

(Yea I know there are 2 videos. At my friend's house, no matter what browser I choose this keeps happening)

_______________________________________________________________________________________

UPDATE: http://www.youtube.com/user/CapcomUnityVideos Uploaded 2 new videos with awesome team combos, inlcuding Sagat, Julia, Cammy and Hwo.

April 6th 2012 will go down in history has one of the most intense nights in our brief Street Fighter X Tekken history. Check out these 3 clips from that PWNn evening. Don't be a Jimmy!

The most brilliant match of the night comes real early in the tournament. FnJimmy is on a rampage. BatRastered gives him credit for not losing in scramble battles. Then GoukiJones and Choke rail them both with a 50 hit combo. FnJimmy says his best line ever in his entire life. "The G is for gook."

FnJimmy doesn't block. He has no idea how SFxT works. He's terrible at video games. Choke calls out GoukiJones for losing his mind. Team Tossas pull it out at the end.

It's gotten way out of control at this point. The final match in the Scramble tournament at FnJimmy loses his mind. GoukiJones hits 2 unblocked supers. BatRastered yells out homoerotic slurs. Choke applauds while FnJimmy will be leaving a loser once again. Don't be a Jimmy! Inchiban suki.

Street Fighter on the 3DS, New Super Street Fighter IV DLC, Darkstalkers IV teased, More SSF4 characters to come? AND STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN!!

Outside while we waited in line we were so lucky to be entertained by some bad ass Street Fighter Cosplay.

Juri and Chun Li cosplay

And check out this Gouki!!

FNJimmy as Gouki SDCC 2010 Capcom booth

Here's how I remember it ... Ono-chin got right into talking about the new DLC for Super Street Fighter IV which is just new/old costumes. For example the Chun Li Alpha sweat pants are back. Blanka has some seriously ridiculous looking shit on. You can find better pictures on the net, but this is a picture I took.

Super Street Fighter IV DLC

I may recall things out of order. At one point Ono-chin teases about Darkstalkers again. He asks everyone to pull out some money and hold it up in the air. He took a picture and told everyone that he was going to show it to the head Jimmys in charge back in Japan. "See people are ready to pay for Darkstalkers." He joked. I hope you follow Ono-chin on twitter he has one of the best accounts. @yoshi_onochin

Then there was talk of the Super Street Fighter IV 3DS version. Which looks amazing and I won't play. There isn't much for me to comment on here. What about the Super Street Fighter IV arcade release? I don't know who is saying what and what we are exactly talking about on stage, because I know like two words in Japanese so I think I can speak it. What am I talking about here ... I believe that Ono-chin was hinting that  NEW characters will be in the arcade release. Which if this is true, it only means that another inevitable Street Fighter IV will be coming to the home consoles sometime. It's inevitable.

One of the characters already announced is Birdie. j/k

Then on the screen in front of the room the words "Here comes a new challenger!" pops up and the lights go out.

Then from out of nowhere a crazy man in the back of the room is screaming in Japanese. Throwing copies of Tekken 6 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 across the room. Aiming for Jimmys dressed in Street Fighter costumes. The lights come on and my eyes jump over to the goofy white guy who starts translating the Japanese. Oh it's Harada, the Tekken Jimmy and his translator that pronounced EVO "EV-VO" Nubfarm!

Ono-chin VS Harada

So yes, Ono and Harada are good friends. Their shenanigans went on for over 45 minutes at EVO earlier this month. They are both very theatrical as well. They both dressed the same with the robes although Ono claimed he just woke up late. I don't know what these crazy Japanese guys are up to. They do make incredible games. And then Ono-chin announced Street Fighter X Tekken. Yes "X!" It means cross, I think. He continued to blow everybody's mind and said he had a playable copy of Street Fighter X Tekken. Just watch my video below. Prepare to be amazed.

Did you notice RYU almost has an expression like "C'mon really?" When he sees Kazuya. Kazuya makes a face too, but RYU thinks this is a joke. The graphics are beautiful and the tag partner element is always a crazy gameplay design. Ono insisted that this was a live play, but I'm just saying it could have been a video. As set up as everything was there were still on stage. Either way we won't be seeing this game probably for a couple of years. Expect the next serious update E3 2010 E3 2011. Now play me in Super Street Fighter IV!!

New costume packs, gems, and colors coming soon, also patch fixes and tournament support for gem selection.

On April 3, we will see the free color packs as DLC. This will add some new colors to the customize colors palette. I still have no idea why this is DLC and not just turned on from the beginning. At the same time new "swap" costumes will be introduced. For a buck each you can see your favorite SF character dressed as a Tekken character or vice-versa. If you want the whole set, you can buy the full SF set for $13 and the full Tekken set for $13, for a total of $26. That's one expensive costume pack! (These are just alternate outfits, not new characters)

Shortly after April 3 (no exact date) there will be a tournament support update. This will be a title update not DLC, so you'll get this automatically. This update includes some fixes to the online code (audio issues, etc) and a way to choose your gem set from the character selection menu.

A few weeks later, another title update will include new gems, more slots to store your favorite gem sets, and a replay analyzer.

Finally, soon after the PS Vita version of SFxT ships, the 12 new characters will be available as paid DLC for $20 (1600 MSP). The new characters are: Blanka, Sakura, Guy, Cody, Elena, Dudley, Alisa, Bryan, Christie, Jack, Lars and Lei.

The summary from Capcom:

FREE
Nine new gem packs totaling 60+ new gems
Replay analyzer
Tournament support for gem selection
Three new quick combo pre-sets
Three additional gem loadout slots
Three new color packs with four colors each

PAID
Swap Costumes - $1.00 (80 MSP) each or in two $13.00 (1040 MSP) Street Fighter and/or Tekken packs
DLC characters - $20.00 (1600 MSP) for all 12 new fighters

To make things more official Capcom has released actual gameplay footage for Street Fighter X Tekken. It does look weird, look at those crazy JP dinosaurs.

Street Fighter X Tekken Gameplay Trailer

New trailers uploaded this morning, think you know who they are?

and...

I don't really play Tekken but the gloves and colors in the first video for sure seem like Lili. The boots in the second one are a dead giveaway for Gief. Anyone have any other ideas? Unfortunately I really have no interest in these characters so this reveal was really dull for me. Still waiting on Juri and Elena ;) What do you guys think of the new teasers and who do you still want in?

Street Fighter X Tekken Pandora gameplay video

By: BatRastered Sep 14, 2011 | 10 Comments | Updated: Sep 14, 2011

Pandora is basically SFxT's version of X-Factor. Plus new characters.

You have to sacrifice your partner to activate Pandora, which could be cool. There is also a 4 player simultaneous 2v2 mode.

I can't keep track of what characters have or have not been officially announced or just rumored but oh yeah, Rolento is going to be my main!

GoukiJones Blithering Blathering about his experience with SFxT so far. Are the stages beautiful or a just a beautiful distraction? Is it possible that the Tekken characters themselves are the best thing about this game? Will gems be banned at EVO?

SFxT The Good, The Bad, and the Gutter Trash. Review from GoukiJones.

Street Fighter X Tekken has 19 Street Fighters including Street Fighter Alpha classic Rolento, Street Fighter III's big German Hugo and his partner in crime from back in the Final Fight days, Poison. It's a man baby. Tekken has 19 characters as well, but I'm sorry I can't tell you from which Tekken game in the series they come from. I played the crap out of Tekken 2, one of my favorite games of all time, I had it memorized completely, I knew the 10 hits for every character and King was my favorite. That's all I got to say about my history with Tekken.

Let me begin with the Tekken characters in SFxT. The Tekken characters are my favorite part of the game. I wanted to try Poison of course. I didn't like using her or him. My bad. Rolento I banned personally because FGC was already saying he was top tier and over-powered. So I figured I didn't want use a character that EVERYONE else was going to be using. King was in for sure, I love the grappling. King and Hugo that was my Dream Team when I first saw the entire roster. Hugo is one of my guys in SFIII I liked to use and he is another grappler so I figured they would be cool together. I used Hugo for the first day and dropped him. I switched to Lili who I now I officially second main. Does that make sense? [smh] I tried to use Hugo again after I saw some PWNn with him at a tournament. I couldn't replicate a thing I saw in that tournament. So back to Lili.

Playing with King is super fun. Although Tekken vintage 10 hit combos are absent -I don't know why- King still has a lot grabs and his super can be modified. Remember his chain throwing? Yeah there's only one option for that during his super. He also has a rising knee, which is up-forward and medium kick. Timed properly you can chain some amazing combos. He has unblockable grabs whether your opponent is standing our crouching also a Moonsault that is super slow, but could be a good mix-up. With Lili I'm still learning her basics and what to do with her. I enjoy learning these new characters and  the "Street Fighter style" Tekken characters came out really nice.

As far as the Street Fighter characters go, it's a lot like SF4. If somebody was really good with Abel in SF4, they will be really good with Abel in SFxT. That aspect of the game doesn't thrill me at all, because I am terrible at SF4 and don't play it. Cammy is my main, but she is "free" most of the time. I tried Guile once in SFxT, but again, I don't like him in SF4 and I don't like him in SFxT. So in Street Fighter X Tekken I use two Tekken characters. King and Lili.

Playing online sucks. More so if you're a 360 user. Xbox 360 straight up does not have the same features as the PS3. Local co-op does not work on the Xbox 360. Local co-op or couch play is when you and your buddy play together online, at the same time, in the same room, on the same Xbox 360. Something we've experienced since Halo 2. Capcom has said 2 things about this.

1:

"PS3 version: It is possible to mix and match online and offline players for scramble battles and pair play battles. Two local players can play on the same PS3 using 1 PSN ID, and play against other players online.

360 version: It is NOT possible to mix and match online and offline players for scramble battles and pair play battles. So you either have to have all players be offline and local (so 4 players, 1 Xbox) or have all the players be online (4 players, 4 Xboxes)."

Source.

2:

"Unfortunately, due to time and resource issues, we weren’t able to get that feature into the Xbox 360 version and we apologize to those players who were looking forward to it. "

Source.

I don't know which of the 2 are worse. "It is NOT possible to mix and match online and offline players." Halo 2.

The second reason says they just didn't have enough time. Nothing to do with not knowing how. I'll tell you one thing, Capcom had plenty of time and the know how of how to put a bunch of extra content on the disk that they would entend to charge us for later. So the online co-op plus the 5 exclusive characters, make the PS3 version VERY different from the Xbox version. Xbox users got gaffled this time.

Okay you don't have any friends and just play online by yourself. WARNING: the sound cuts in and out during some fights online. I noticed this when I first got it out of the box and played it for 21:07 minutes. It's a bigger deal then some might think. There are plenty of sound cues in fighting games. All of the sudden a fireball is floating across the screen. Yeah yeah, you can SEE IT, but have you SEEN some of the levels in SFxT? More on that below. So the sound issue is a little frustrating. Connection otherwise seems to be fine for the most part, unless you are fighting Arthvader.

At home with a group of friends is another story. Street Fighter X Tekken shines with 4 people in the same room, teamed up and fighting against each other. Minus the 100+ timeout endings, just waiting to be tagged in is extremely thrilling. We've played quite a few hours like this. During our most recent session we tried the scramble battle. What the fuck is happening during this? It's super fun and I could only hope that all Capcom fighting games in the future have a similar mode. Scramble mode is 2v2, everybody in at the same time. Just like a Tornado Tag Team match for my WWE marks. Or if you're old (also like me) like Ryu & Ken VS Bison from the alpha days, but Bison has a partner too. This a great group/party fighting game.

There are still a few things I don't like about SFxT. A lot of this game comes off as experimental. Like Capcom just wanted to try out a bunch of different things to see how the FGC would react. The stages for example are extravagant. A little too extravagant. If you thought UMvC3 backgrounds were flashy and have too much going on, the SFxT stages are far more out of control. In Ultimate I feel some sort of separation from the stages and my characters. In SFxT, the graphics, lighting and 3D characters in a 2D/3D environment blend perfectly. A little too perfectly. (winkface) There are some stages that we have already completely banned. The Pandora stage, with the colliding mammoths in the background -Which makes a noise when they hit, remember I mentioned noise cues earlier? You can't hear the jets flying by on Shield heli-carrier.- in round 3 on the Pandora level, Jacks and armored trucks and T-Rex's is flying around all through the background. It's bananaz. Yeah, I can't deal with that. Pit Stop 69 is also banned. By round 3 on that stage it's so dark you can't even see some characters. BatRastered says "All I see is black."

Some of our favorite levels are the Half Pipe. Can anyone tell me who the four Bison girls are on that bill board? That's a pretty simple level, the colors are normal and there isn't a bunch shit distracting you in the background. Mishima Estate makes noise, but this is because your character is stepping on roof tiles. This is actually pretty cool, stepping sound effects on different types of flooring is a cool feature for fighting games. Quick shout out to the Mad Gear Hideout. So I can stop talking about the stages, I'd like to just say to Capcom that we need more options for more laid back levels. Nothing happens on the training stage I know, but what happened to the grass fields or the sky scrapper roof tops? Keep some of them simple.

Gems what the fuck? Seriously? I didn't know what the FGC was going to think of this. My rule is, if you make something for your game and it's banned at EVO and other FGC tournaments, then you fail. It's a waste and nobody will care. It will kill your game. Like Mortal Kombat. Which I'm surprised enough people are still playing it for it to get a nod at EVO. Back to the gems deal and EVO. If the gems aren't allowed at EVO then they will have failed. The least I can see EVO doing is allowing people to choose gems from the default list. All the special edition and DLC gems will not be allowed. Which will still fall under my category of FAIL.

The gems are cool and I like the idea of having a little strategy there. Ono said this also brings to the table that Ryu VS Ryu could be completely different because of gem selection. Yeah that's a great idea ... for Darkstalkers. J/K. I mentioned earlier, SFxT could be full of experiments. The gems just aren't practical.

Now that I've blithered and blathered for some time about my experience with SFxT this last couple of weeks, lets get down to brass tacks.

  • Street Fighter X Tekken looks amazing.
  • Plays a lot like Street Fighter IV.
  • Has something very unique with the Tekken characters fighting styles in Street Fighter type gameplay.
  • Great features such as 4 people playing at the same time in a 2v2 tag situation or a 2v2 4 characters on the screen at once.
  • Tons of great characters and even more to come with DLC.

So don't be a mad when I give Street Fighter X Tekken Rent it! Especially if your only option is to get it for Xbox 360. Playstation has 5 more characters and you can play locally with your son, friend or for some of you extremely lucky Jimmys, your girlfriend/wife. So it could possibly be a Buy it! on PS3. But still, hard to tell if this game will be around next year errr what I want to say is EVO 2013. Ultimate will, SFIV will.

Try it before you buy it.
