Nintendo's Press Conference
The Nintendo press conference was pretty solid for the most part and the 3DS looks amazing after seeing Kid Icerus Uprising, at first I was like I'm not going to get a new one, I just got the DS Lite. Now I cant wait to get my hands on one. The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword looks just like Twillight Princess but with more items and more motion feature with the motion plus. Kirby's Epic Yarn is like Yoshi's Island with more interaction with the levels. During the start of Donkey Kong Country Returns it was funny that the crowd started cheering for the returning 2D gameplay so you know it's good. And the return of Goldeneye I'm looking forward to that one yes and Metroid The Other M. So now I'm going to see hoe Sony conference is going to be so peace.
Nintendo stood it's grow again for another year!
Nintendo's press conference 2010 was something to look forward to.
With some nintendo news under rap, what can you expect for the company?
Well, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, Kirby: Epic Yarn, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Metriod: Other M, Donkey Kong Country: Returns, GoldenEye 007, Kid Icarus: UpRising and Epic Mickey!
Nintendo started the key note with a demo of Zelda and finished with the NEW 3DS! The Wii is maintaining its speed with games, and with it's handheld.
I was hoping that they would talk about the Wii HD/2, but I can only dream.
The new Zelda was demoed and it was a great start. They talked about bring back classics and that's what they did! All the game showed at the conference were unique and different! From the Kirby game to the Zelda one, they stand out like the hall mark of Nintendo.
The 3DS seems a bit bigger and the top screen to. I'm wondering if that will pixalate the original games being played with the 3DS. Even so, Nintendo did not mention the Vitallity sensor... Oh well.
With majority of these game being released this hoilday season and a few next year, Nintendo plans to bank on us. SOLD!!
My impressions of Nintendo's keynote inside.
Okay, so I already posted a story about the Zelda announcement that headed Nintendo's keynote. Since I already talked about that, I'll invite you jump to that article instead of me having to talk about it again. So please, feel free to go read it and then come back - but please come back, because otherwise you will miss some incredible announcements.
You back? Okay, Good.
After Skyward Sword, Nintendo immediately went on to show a trailer for Mario Sports Mix. I'm not a big fan of the Mario sports games of the past - but being on the Wii and having a mixture of sports in the same game, this actually looks pretty awesome. There was a nice mix of sports including soccer, basketball, and volleyball. And while Mario Sports Mix wasn't quite jaw-dropping, it was still a really nice announcement just the same. Mario Sports Mix will be out in 2011.
Should I skip Wii Party? If you take Mario Party and replace the Mario characters with Miis, then you've got Wii Party. I just don't get it. But oh well, I'm not going to dwell on it.
Just Dance 2...pass.
Next was a trailer for Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. The trailer looked amazing. This is classic JRPG that I've been wanting on the DS. I'm really pumped about this game - a lot more than I expected to be prior to Nintendo's keynote. I'm just...wow, this is going to be amazing. If you're a Golden Sun fan, or just a JRPG fan in general, then you have to check this game out. It will be out during the holiday season of 2010.
Goldeneye 007 Wii was the next announcement. Now, I must say: the trailer - it looked like utter crap. The visuals here were beyond disappointing, and the gameplay didn't really look like anything all that amazing. Anyone that has played a Wii first-person shooter will already know that this probably won't end up very well, but still...it's Goldeneye, so it's definitely going to be a big deal for a lot of people. It comes out during the holiday season of 2010.
Warren Spector came out to commentate on an Epic Mickey demo. At first I was pretty skeptical; the beginning of the demo looked pretty lame. But then Mickey jumped into a movie screen, and it went into a side-scrolling level themed after the Steamboat Willy cartoon - complete with black and white visuals. At that point I was interested, but I really wish that the whole game was going to be 2D platforming; the 3D areas still looked like boring garbage.
The trailer for Kirby's Epic Yarn was...well, I'm not really sure what to say about it. It's not my cup of tea - I can say that much for certain. I think that the art style is charming enough to some people, but I just wasn't feeling it. A Kirby fan might be into this; since I'm not a Kerby fan, I can't say much about this - except that it comes out in the fall of 2010.
There was a new trailer for Metroid: Other M that makes it look even better than it did last year. The action looks to be amazingly smooth and fresh. I think Metroid: Other M has a lot of potential to be amazing. Team Ninja and Nintendo together - at first I was pretty skeptical, but now that I've seen more of it in action, I think it could just blow a lot of people's minds. And the best part is the release date: August 31 of this year.
And then...and then...oh man, I think I'm going to faint! Donkey...Kong...Country...Returns! They showed off a trailer of this game, and I immediately had a nostaligic geek-out moment. I literally jumped out of my chair in excitement. The premise is that they're basically taking Donkey Kong Country and giving it the New Super Mario Brothers Wii treatment - and let me tell you something: it looks amazing! As hard as it is for me to believe, this announcement totally owned Nintendo's keynote for me hands-down. And it's coming out this year!!! I'm...*passes out*
Nintendo revealed what Project Nora really was - Kid Icarus Uprising. This is going to be a 3DS game. The trailer looked really intriguing and fun. And if the trailer gameplay is really any indication, then the 3DS is capable of some truly amazing graphics - because these looked almost like Wii graphics; I kid you not. I'm...well, this could be really good. I'm paying attention Nintendo; wow me.
The end of the keynote was the announcement of the actual Nintendo 3DS. The whole "3D without glasses" concept was a bit overplayed, and unfortunately watching the keynotes on television offer you no way to see how this will actually look. But we know that all you care about is the games, and Nintendo chose to focus on the third-party with a crapload of fantastic third-party titles in development: DJ Hero 3D, Kingdom Hearts 3DS, Saint's Row 3DS, Madden and FIFA for 3DS, Resident Evil 3DS, Batman 3DS, Assassin's Creed: Lost Legacy, Ridge Racer 3DS, and...Metal Gear Solid 3DS(!!!). Nintendo wasn't telling us anything about these games besides the fact that they're in development, but that's undeniably an amazing lineup of third-party games. The only first-party that Nintendo mentioned was the aforementioned Kid Icarus Uprising and Nintendogs + Cats. If Nintendo can keep a strong focus on the third-party, than the 3DS could end up being a real winner.
So Nintendo's conference was amazing - no need to tell you that. Nintendo basically made all of the announcements that we've been speculating about for the last two or three years. Bravo Nintendo.
Nintendo names and shows the new Zelda during their keynote.
The first thing on Nintendo's stage this morning: Zelda - and the name of the new Zelda title: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Not the greatest name in my book, but oh well - how's it look?
Skyward Sword appears to have Link as an adult, but wait - am I seeing cel-shading? Why yes, I think I am! Skyward Sword has a more realistic look than Wind Waker, but it's still laced with a cel-shaded look that I find to personally be quite unappealing. I don't know; you'll have to judge the look for yourself, but as of yet I've not found any official screenshots.
The game uses the Wii Motion Plus and seems to have true one-to-one motion for sword fights. The one-to-one combat ends up being a critical part of the gameplay, because enemies will be required to be hit from certain angles at times in order to defeat them. I admit that the gameplay looks to have some really cool aspects, and it really does look like Nintendo has evolved Zelda and made something that combines Zelda and the Wii perfectly.
Skyward Sword; one-to-one fighting; a little bit of cel-shading (ugh). This is the next Zelda.

EDIT: Miyamoto just confirmed that Skyward Sword will not be out in 2010; it will come out some time in 2011.

If it’s not one thing it’s another. Gouki.com is very excited for attending E3 as a member of the media for the very first time.
12:15am Day 0 of E3 2010. Today I woke up with an extremely heavy head. I rolled downstairs and got into a taxi and explained to the driver that I must get to the convention center as soon as possible. I just poured a little/lot of Jack into a can of coke I’m drinking. I watched the Microsoft press conference today from the E3 media lounge. The signal was really hard to get a hold of and I actually saw less than half of it. What I got from what I saw is … Cut anything will pwn!. Half of the Microsoft press conference involved games that require me to stand up and not hold anything, just flail myself in different ways at the screen. The animal one (Kenictmals) does look interesting to me. If I could just turn on a rhino to hang out on my TV and if I waived my hands at it to have in ram the screen or do some flips. I still say a real tiger should have come out and attacked the little girl. Halo Reach, again. Yes yes, I want to play I will be at the store, in line, before midnight waiting for it to be released. Don’t be a Jimmy.
Did I tell you about how fnjimmy pissed himself. I throw my hand up. Because telling this story is so absurd to me. The story is all facts and I have a hard time telling it truthfully. Have another drink. At dinner we ate a Irish bar on Figueroa St. in downtown L.A. Jimmy had two beers. Jimmy pissed right before we left the bar. Two blocks later the man is bent over in what he exclaims is excruciating pain.
Real time break. Jimmy was just bent over in my room picking his feet. I kicked the man out. Stay tuned for the continuation of the pee pants story. I apologize.
Let’s talk about games. Have another drink walk around. 12:39 in the hotel room. Wtf. More CG for The Old Republic. New Need for Speed is Burnout 3. Ubisoft’s press conference sounded terrible. I was watching the A-Team. Sounds like I made the right decision. Looked at the Activsion pwnfest that was taking place inside the Staples center and shook my fist! I said to myself I’m gonna get shit faced when they let me in there. Day 1! Very excited to play some new games. What is up with Marvel vs Capcom 3 Jimmy?!

Smaller brick, and your face can't be removed.
Hey guys! The Gouki Team went out to eat a pizza joint when Major Nelson was there to show off Mircosoft's new Xbox 360 Slim! With the attention attached to him, I was able to ask Albert Panello a few question about the new Xbox 360 Slim.
Rei: Can you swap faceplates on the new 360 Slim?
Albert Panello: No. You won't be about to swap out for new faceplates.
R: Are there anyother color than black they you are making?
A: Not right now. We're going with black for now.
What I also noticed is that the power brick is smaller and the 360 Slim is 14% smaller than the original.
But check out the pictures and badass video, here, only on Gouki.com!
My impressions of the Ubisoft keynote speech.
When Ubisoft started out their keynote, I wasn't quite sure what I was watching. I thought maybe I'd changed the channel and turned on the Stoner's Channel - but I hadn't; Ubisoft was just showing off Children of Eden, a super-trippy game that is supposed to be (I think) the spiritual successor to Rez. I might have been impressed, but I can't tell, because I had no idea what I was seeing. It was trippy - I'll give it that - but all I saw was some guy wailing his arms around and colorful blocks doing crazy things. I don't know about this Ubisoft; I mean, it was cool on the PS2, but really?
Next they showed Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood with a demo that looked amazing. Mind you I've never played either of the first two Assassin's Creed games, but this demo automatically made me want this game to come out already. There was just something about it that was so cool looking. In my opinion it seemed to have a bit of a Prince of Persia feel to it with the acrobatics and combat, but that's certainly nothing bad at all.
Then they showed Shaun White Skateboarding, which - okay, I really like the concept of this game; I think it sounds really cool to skate around and change the world. I think this has the potential to be the next-gen version of what a really cool Tony Hawk game could have been. To be completely honest I'm quite excited about this game, and that's saying a lot since I don't care much about skateboarding games.
Battle tag - what? That's not a video game at all. I'm not even really sure what to say about this - but I can only assume that you wouldn't care about it if I knew how to explain it. Where is the 'video' part of video game here?
Innergy? Wait a minute - where have I seen this before? Oh, I know...this was the Vitality Sensor that Nintendo showed off last year. Yes, that's right; you put it on your finger and it reads your vital information. Mind you it doesn't look there's any real game here. Where the battle tag crap lacked the 'video' part of video game, this lacks the 'game' part of video game. Okay, so moving on...
Next Ubisoft showed a couple Kinect games. One was Motion Sports, which dare I say is Wii Sports for the 360. I literally saw nothing here that impressed me, and nothing really that looked new at all. I'm not sure why Ubisoft expects anyone to care about this, especially since Microsoft had a nearly identical game they showed during their keynote speech. I'll pass.
Ugh, another fitness game?! They already showed off Your Shape: Fitness Evolved during the Microsoft keynote, but apparently they thought it was good enough to show again. Well guess what - they were wrong. In fact it wasn't worth showing off the first time. Next.
There was a little video for Raving Rabbids Travel in Time. None of this video was gameplay, so I'm having a hard time figuring out what kind of game this is. It's exclusively for the Wii, so my expectations are next to nil. But to be fair, I can't really say anything for certain, because all they showed was a gameplay-free trailer.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - this is what everyone wanted to see. And I'm glad to say that it didn't disappoint. There was a demo that looks freaking amazing. I really can't wait for this game to come out! I wasn't the least bit interested in this game before, but after seeing it in demo form...wow. There's a nice mixture of stealth and action. The graphics looked amazing, and this isn't even the final build. Just wow. The demo left me speechless.
They showed a demo of Driver: San Francisco next. I'm just...well, I remember the old Driver games; they weren't that great. Driver was a series that I was fine with being gone. I felt no need to see it brought back. But since it is being brought back, it looks...meh. You drive around doing cool chase scenes. It's pretty much what you'd expect, and it doesn't look like it offers much more than what you'd expect. This might be the perfect type of game for someone, but not me.
They showed a trailer of a game that is being called Project: Dust right now. The trailer doesn't really tell you much about the game, so I'm not sure of much about it. The premise was certainly interesting; it appears to be about some ancient civilization trying to survive or something of that nature. I'm not sure what genre of game this will be, but I think that if the gameplay can match the premise, it might just end up being pretty good.
Rayman has been gone for a while, so I'm surprised that we got to see Rayman: Origins. There's something you must know about this game if you didn't see the gameplay: it's freaking cute as hell, but that's not at all a bad thing. It really does look like it's a very charming game, and I think it looks like it could be one of those games that is just pure fun, which is something I've been wanting for a while.
ManiaPlanet isn't a game at all; it's a platform to allow people to make their own games. TrackMania is something that has been out for a while, and it's been quite popular. Now it's being branched out into a whole platform that will have TrackMania, ShooterMania, and QuestMania (racing, FPS, and RPG accordingly). This has that whole LittleBigPlanet feel to it where it's focusing on the gamers as creators. The problem I have with this is that most of us aren't game designers, and I don't want to have to sift through loads of crap from artistic wannabes to find one gem.
Apparently there's a Michael Jackson game of some sort. I don't know; some people came out and danced to Beat It. Whatever. Just Dance: Michael Jackson? Meh. I'd rather not Just Dance if it's all the same to Ubisoft.
Yeah, Ubisoft's keynote was just horrible. There were a few interesting games, and a few great looking games, but...there was just too much that disappointed me. I'm feeling that Ubisoft is becoming one of the major advocates of casual gaming. With things like Innergy in the pipeline, I'm just...I can't get behind Ubisoft on this. Terrible. Tsk, tsk.
Check out my impressions of EA's keynote speech inside.
So Microsoft's keynote was pretty disappointing; we all know it's true. Unless you care about watching Kinect, there was very little that was interesting. So then came EA's keynote. Was it better than Microsoft? For the most part, yes.
EA opened up with a new remake of Hot Pursuit. I have to say it: I wasn't that much impressed by the demo. It's from Criterion, and it certainly looked like it; the game really did appear to have a Burnout feel to it. The graphics do look impressive, but I just can't get over the fact that the game looks more like a Burnout game than a Need for Speed game. EA boasted that the game was going back to the Need for Speed roots, but I just didn't see it in the demo.

Well thats it at lease the guys over at EA did excellent with Star Wars: TOR.
Well alright we kick things of with Microsoft Kinect all I can say is its controller free, you can work out with it's exercise program and anything else the Wii can also do. Gears of War 3 has 4 player co-op and now you can play a girl, woopie. Then there was Metal Gear solid for the xbox, looks amazing. The C.O.D. black ops its looks no different then Modern Warfare 2. And the big SHOCKER is the new Xbox 360 smaller, sleek looking, black, and with built in wi-fi and 250gb hdd. Well thats it at lease the guys over at EA did excellent with Star Wars: TOR. I don't play at all of any PC games but this one I can't wait to play it. Alright thats all see you jimmyas tomorrow for Day 1, peace.
During Microsoft's conference, they announced a new 360 model.
Okay, so Microsoft's E3 conference was admittedly pretty weak. But there was a highlight moment - at least for some - at the end of their conference. Microsoft announced a new 360 SKU - a 360 with a redesigned case and built-in WiFi. The new 360 SKU will supposedly release at $300, probably phasing out the old Elite models. There is one other big deal here, and this one some might consider HUGE: the new 360 SKU will be released this week! I'm a bit surprised that the retailers were able to keep the news under wraps for so long, but I guess keeping it a secret paid off; surprise is rampant, and I'm sure that consumer interest in the 360 has just been respawned.
Keep checking out Gouki to get the most up-to-date news on everything E3 2010!
...there isn't anything I want to say right now...
Well here is what I am looking forward to E3. This story will be short for the fact that there isn't anything I want to say right now but I hope to see alot of surprices over there one in my mind is Kindom Hearts 3, I think now is a good time for Sony to pull this one out of their hats, I don't really care about this new magic wand type controller, they need to start thinking more original ideals. Nintendo got the Other M which is made by the people who made the Ninja Gaiden series. That's all I'm going to say so hopfully my story after E3 will be one or two Holy Shitballs this is going to be a great game, but will see after next week peace.
